That's the fastest I have ever seen anyone drive a 1950s living room, complete with leather upholstery and wooden furniture. Fabulous video Ivan, classy smooth driving, you've still got it mate.
Cosigned by a longtime Coldwarmotors fan who drifted over here on Scott's referral. Just absolutely enjoying the storytelling and production quality - how lucky we are to be able to watch your marvelous exploits just as though we were visiting you in person. You humble us all sir!
I’m here because of Scott from coldwarmotors, too, and have enjoyed the sight of your beautiful Alvis, and hearing Red Triangle mentioned. Subscribed right away.
Scott from Coldwar Motors gave you a shout out... So I gave you a watch.. I know very little about european cars , but I really like the old school cars.
Almost seems like sacrilege to drive that lovely old stately home around a race track, but, it was a pleasure to watch and you did it no harm. Fantastic, as always, Ivan. You should have 100,000 subscribers with the content that you put out.
Ivan classic cars used as they should be love this channel makes me smile and a lesson to us all, live life so you can look back and feel privileged, gold dust.
Such a treat for this California car guy to see all these classic British marques NOT in a static display. p.s. For the past several weeks we've up to our gills with glorious "English Sunshine". You can have it back now!
Scott from Coldwarmotors Channel gave your channel a plugon his video today , You will pick up some more subscribers for sure great video, sweet car you have there Ivan , that wood is wicked nice inside Keep 'em coming !!
What a lively Alvis! I had a 1963 TD21 Ser II with the same engine, it was the quietest engine I have ever heard, you did well to just have a blowing exhaust, stay safe! Chris B.
Good stuff, love the black cat getting in the Alvis at the beginning. Perhaps she was hoping to do the "Pom" as well!.Remember the racing Grey Lady that Marshal drove at Goodwood.I seem to recall the A35,s had around 135bhp so,as you say,not modified at all!! Even the Academy cars later on had about 85bhp.
Beautiful, beautiful car and so quiet (until the exhaust blew). A genuine Grand Touring car, the perfect thing to drive down to the south of France in the summer with the top down and a picnic basket in the back.
One thing I noticed in vintage racing is a reluctance to carry speed through the corners. Ivan clearly doesn't have that problem. Great time and thanks for sharing.
That was a great day and good to meet you. You can’t really tell from the video how cold it was though 😂 Just thawed out! Couple of great lines in there “ lapped Nick Mason twice “ and “ beat Martin Stretton “ if you know , you know. Top man Ivan 👍😃
Pleased to see you let the cat out before the race.... Wafting round Silverstone with nothing but the ticking of the clock, until the others went past. Beautiful! That MG A buzzed a few others too.
iVAN Great show smooth and comfortable. what a way to spend an hour or two Great car and equally great driving you still got it thanks for the ride and kudos to the rest of the team Ed 40 S of Vegas
Excellent video, very much enjoyed it, the camera in the car worked really well, I remember I went to the 1957 Grand prix at Silverstone, I think Stirling Moss won it in a Vanwall. Thanks for sharing.
Wonderful! Not quite sure when I will dare to enter the Pom, (first event will be the Cotswold trial this year, I think) but hopefully not too far off... I was particularly impressed that needle of the speedo barely dropped below 85 mph on the laps, and was still reading 75 mph as you pootled through the paddock!
I thought you were going to trade paint with the green MGA when he overtook you. Great driving great video. Most exciting Tuesday I've had in a while. Keep up the good work.
Absolutely fabulous video. I know it will probably never happen but I would dearly love to meet you in person. Not real familiar with Alvis although the character Jim Prideaux drove one in the BBC/Paramount film series Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy in the 1980s. The six episode series featured Alec Guinness as George Smiley. His was a two place painted dark blue with red leather upholstery. The retired intelligence agent was working as a teacher in a private school and in one scene he is letting his boy students drive the beautiful Alvis around the playing ground -- great fun for them! Those looked like SU carburetors on the engine and the interior appointments were simply stunning. They certainly don't make them like that anymore although I understand there is a firm who has started building the Alvis once again. Keep up the GREAT WORK!!!
Ivan. Once again thank you for the ride along. What grand lady she is. You looked like you were simply driving to market. Car looks amazingly stabile in the corners and steering predictable and effortless. I was expecting much different experience. cheers!
Ivan didn't mention it, but I think the suspension and damper settings must be modified significantly. Most pre-1980s saloon cars corner on the door-handles, but this one barely heeled.
smooth as silk Ivan you are my Hero. Im sure you give up 200+ kilos or more to the others on the track and you still have it, for sure! carry on. love your channel
I heard about your " other Grey Lady " from a friend of mine who knows a lot about Alvis cars, bit sneaky !! I've also done a fair bit of woodwork on them.
Brilliantly enjoyable video Ivan , been a big fan since seeing your ' 59 Morris Mini put through its paces , watched countless times !.The Grey Lady is a beautiful old girl and she did very well.Is it possible to get more modern rubber on those wheels ? , whatever they are , they held on well .
That grey lady, Shure would look awesome with more modern shoes, about 8"-10" wide rims, in 17"-20 diameter 17-18" on the front 17-18" x 8-9" with a 9-10" in the rear, 245-35-(17"-18") tires in front, with 275-30-(17"-18") rear, or there about, late 90's early 2000's sizes, it would not be too heavy, a alloy mesh center with larger appearing hoop possibly mounted reversed, to give the look of a 20" rim if ther is clearance, I think it would look awesome, I love restromods. Basically add better brakes, modern rims and tires, possibly upgraded suspension. With either a slightly newer engine, or modified original, better balance on the crank, remove excess weight. Stronger tod bolts, possibly stronger rods, fit a modern piston, lightly ported head, polished chamber, possibly ceramic coating possibly larger valves , port match every thing, all the ports , and add a more modern carburetor. And a cam or regrind, getting about .080" more lift with about 10-18° total duration, and about 4-6° additional overlap, And raise the compression to about 200psi, (195-210 Psi,) basically any engine getting this treatment, will possibly double the output, pickup about 1000-1500 rpm on modern engines late 40' or 50's and newer, or 200-500 in the old engines!: Or keep the low compression, and add a turbo! With blow through carb!!
I've never seen anyone snap a steering wheel like Ivan... I'm suspecting that he's part Terminator!! Love your channel... I would subscribe 10 times over if I could...🎩🇺🇸🎩
Loved it Ive' The grey lady is a lot more composed than I gave her credit for at the beginning. I hope you at least harnessed the moggy safely. 😽 Best wishes from the young Git in Germany.
I remember the Alvis and Gerry Marshall at Goodwood. It was fantastic and I always wondered who was behind it. I thought it raced twice and was well up the field on both occasions. It gave myself and others great pleasure.
Did the speedo needle get stuck as a result of the speed you were doing on the track? It looked like it was still pointing at 75 mph when you were driving slowley out of the paddock at the end of the video.
Love the digs at Goodwood and the A35s at the beginning - your Grey Lady racer was an awesome car, shame I don’t get to see it racing anymore would love to own it.
That's the fastest I have ever seen anyone drive a 1950s living room, complete with leather upholstery and wooden furniture. Fabulous video Ivan, classy smooth driving, you've still got it mate.
Looks like a sport coupe to me.
Just needed “The Archers”on the radio to complete the illusion!😂
You win.
Halfway through I was expecting tea and cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off.
Is there anyone for a game of Croquet?
Scott at Cold War Motors sent me here. My lucky day!
Fantastic! I love this channel so much. Ivan makes us all look like kids goofing off in a sandbox. Much respect from the colonies!
Hi Scott!

Hope I'm still pedaling that well in my 90s!!!!!

Nice to be "part of your TH-cam family" Ivan, thanks.
My first visit to silverstone was with you! It was the first test with your latest Capri, for that season’s production saloon car championship. 😊
What a beautiful car, the body lines are just classic, outstanding job. I love how your cat quietly made himself at home in the car during the video 😂
Ivan what a super star and always so humble , lovely to see you race again , look forward to the next instalment
Great video - love the cat !
Scott from Coldwarmotors Channel gave your channel a plugon his video today ,

It is our privilege to share the experience with you Ivan. Thank you for sharing your videos
Beautiful, beautiful car and so quiet (until the exhaust blew). A genuine Grand Touring car, the perfect thing to drive down to the south of France in the summer with the top down and a picnic basket in the back.
You are a gem good Sir, and thank you so very much for taking us along. Again, thank you👏
Man alive Ivan... That Alvis is an Absolute BEAST.. and a Gorgeous Beast to boot... Beautiful..
One thing I noticed in vintage racing is a reluctance to carry speed through the corners. Ivan clearly doesn't have that problem. Great time and thanks for sharing.
Ivan, you are a gentleman and a scholar. Live long and prosper 😀
The intro, the music, the whole goddamit, STONKING!
Beautiful driving - loved how the single seaters blasted past on the straights and held you up in the corners! :)
Cheers Ivan the legend and the crew thank you
Loved it. You have captured the essence of the Pom and Ivan's smoother than smooth driving style perfectly.
Absolutely ace, and such ease at driving, great stuff.
Need to get my act into gear & take part in the Pom, been meaning to for years. Maybe a treat for my sixtieth!
Wonderful, really enjoyed the ride and what a lovely car!
Thank you Ivan and all the team for making this a fabulous race to watch.
Tanya knows to focus on The Cat. Thank you!
That was a great day and good to meet you. You can’t really tell from the video how cold it was though 😂 Just thawed out! Couple of great lines in there “ lapped Nick Mason twice “ and “ beat Martin Stretton “ if you know , you know. Top man Ivan 👍😃

thank you for attending that event, gave folks a chance to see a real car in action.
I love how smooth you are at the controls, no thrashing over corrections, very Jim Clark.
Excellent stuff - please keep it coming Ivan !
That Alvis is a Beauty just like Aunty Tania .and im privileged to watch your videos love them all.
The Alvis Grey is a beautiful looking car.
Most ex excellent Ivan....
What massive fun that would have been, great video. You even passed scrutineering Which was a big win 👍😁
What a magnificent old land yacht!
Ivan really is a National Treasure.
no question about it ivan, you're still THE MAN.
That's a very handsom car. Wish it was mine.
I thought you were going to trade paint with the green MGA when he overtook you. Great driving great video. Most exciting Tuesday I've had in a while. Keep up the good work.
Yes, isn't it amazing how much horsepower they get out of a 1098cc A series engine in those A35s 😄 The Alvis looked the classiest car on the track.
Wonderful ❤️👍
Smooth.
Very inspiring!
Lovely job well dun ivan

And the car is a bit heavy too
I heard about your " other Grey Lady " from a friend of mine who knows a lot about Alvis cars, bit sneaky !! I've also done a fair bit of woodwork on them.
Great driving by yourself.
Cats always find the best spots !! 🌳🐈🍋🍄
Awesome video, Awesome driving. Well done team Ivan! Brilliant to watch you corner speed, showed a few faster cars you were still there.
Speedo looks optimistic driving in the car park at the end
😸
Brilliantly enjoyable video Ivan , been a big fan since seeing your ' 59 Morris Mini put through its paces , watched countless times !.The Grey Lady is a beautiful old girl and she did very well.Is it possible to get more modern rubber on those wheels ? , whatever they are , they held on well .
Ha! I'll bet you were the most comfortable driver there!
Looked liked Ginger Baker pounding on that brake pedal! Can you recall the car Nick Mason was in when you lapped him?

Thanks Ivan, excellent stuff. Nice cat, what is the name of it? What a lovely way to spend 44 minutes.
Such a stately barge..sailing along
This car looks very similar to a mid '50's Salmson the French built.
I had a rolls customer. An Englishman and he would say things like “ I’m getting some vibration above 100 mph” those old guys drove em.
I couldn't think of any one better than Ivan to thrash my Granny's Couch around a racetrack, though He might go faster if she was chasing him.
Kind of reminds me of an old Roller being hustled along.... silence broken only by tyre squeal, lots of body roll and creaking leather....
Disney should have such a ride
11/10!
IVAN THE RUBER SEAL ON THE PASSAGE SIDE FRONT . LOOKS LIKE IT MIGHT NEED TO BE LOOKED AT .
Did the speedo needle get stuck as a result of the speed you were doing on the track? It looked like it was still pointing at 75 mph when you were driving slowley out of the paddock at the end of the video.
The Grey Lady and The Black Cat......
You just watched the British Production Saloon Car Champion of 1973.
Just watching Ivan drive through those cones, he’s always in such a bloody rush to get everywhere, you’d think at his age he’d slow down a bit 🤷♂️
Just how many sweet cars do you have?
Love the digs at Goodwood and the A35s at the beginning - your Grey Lady racer was an awesome car, shame I don’t get to see it racing anymore would love to own it.
