Mads forever! The most amazing actor ever. I’m totally enchanted by him, his voice, looks, body, hair and of course his acting. Just love seeing him in any way. Wonderful family man too!
I've seen this movie. It's really hard for an actor to have a non talking role and still pull off a character and I'll be damned if he does not DO IT!! You can still pick up what the guy is feeling and hope for the the best. All though sometimes it does not turn out that way. But Mads did a FANTASTIC job of it!! MORE power to you !!!
The way he carried the boy and also squeezed his arm before he went off to get killed by the natives showed me that he cares about the boy. Also he protected him on the boat.
one eye maybe Odin an old pagan god , as in norse mythology Odin lost his eye so he can see the future and gain knowledge ,in the movie one eye also sees future (the red scenes in the movie) . i think it's about that norse gods are departing the world after the spread of christianity and discovering the new land as he died in the last scene. also in the scene that he construct a cairn(a pile of stones used in certain rituals) he marks the land through which he's willing to leave the world and sacrifice himself.
Great performances of Mads, even wih that animal- human role and his eye so ill, he will always be sexy and a super actor, AMAZING PLEASE. EXCELENT MOVIE¡¡¡ And in the interviews he always talks like a smart and intelligent man. Easy to answer the questions. My favorite actor without doubt.
One of my favorite Viking movies ever. Really surprised this film didn't see more attention. When I saw this movie, I said to myself "Gee, Mads can play virtually anything.".
I enjoy Mads' work. He's neat to watch, gets in character with the best of them. He's kind of sexy in a creepy kinda way...LOL...Not that he's creepy. He's just .... "different"...kinda like Christopher Walken...but...sexy..
Mr. Mikkelsen, når jeg tænker på dig bliver jeg glad! God may not have given us much, but he gave us Mads Mikkelsen! Your most stunning talent keeps us going.
Can anyone list the directors he said this one was inspired by? I understood Sergio Leone, one sounded a bit like Tchaikovsky but he wasn't a director so I'm lost.
Oda Lanizi Fucking Danes and their accents haha, I love Kurosawa and still didn't catch that. If any of you are pals with Mads please ask him who the third director was.
AMpufnstuf I'm pretty sure he was talking about Andrei Tarkovsky, the russian director. Makes sense, there is a lot of him in Valhalla Rising. Watch Stalker from him.
Matheus Albano yeeeeeeeeeah buddy that sounds just about right, sadly I already like Tarkovsky too which means Mads has not introduced me to anything new, fucker.
"It's a different approach" -- it sure is. Still, I would like to see this character again. It's possible. One-Eye didn't seem totally dead by the end of the last one.
One Eye was definitely dead at the end. The symbolism would not make sense without his death. He died because he communicated to the Indians, without either of them saying a word, that he respected them. He builds a cairn when they land to prove that he is also a spiritual being that understands and respects their land, whereas the Christians are there to conquer and convert.

great acting by him ,fighting was great , boring story I can’t buy into the religious and political things in this movie beacause it wasn’t very charming.
+kamalamasama Yes I may be wrong. What I mean is the real history were rewritten several times in favor of ones who gained the power and this power is based on tora (some call it bibel) and if I read it I can imagine how much must be viped out of the man's past and memory thrugh the centuries. So what left is mostly mere fantasy and such in some way beautifull pictures.

When I see this man, I supposed that my face got the fool expression. I can`t avoid that, this man is beautiful.

Bassel KH du tar helt fejl min ven
In english. You are all wrong
@@NostalgicMem0ries Maybe he wanted the tribals to spare the boy.
In the poetic edda one of The All Fathers names is One eye aha
Greets from Russia!
Valhalla Rising is one of my favorite movies!
I've watched this three times.. And it draws me in ever time... Mads is to die for.. Wow!!
Great performances of Mads, even wih that animal- human role and his eye so ill, he will always be sexy and a super actor, AMAZING PLEASE. EXCELENT MOVIE¡¡¡

Wow! The new Hannibal is smokin'!
He was made for this role!
I enjoy Mads' work. He's neat to watch, gets in character with the best of them. He's kind of sexy in a creepy kinda way...LOL...Not that he's creepy. He's just .... "different"...kinda like Christopher Walken...but...sexy..
It’s been how many years and this movie still engages me in a way I never expected the actor did his job to the letter and more on this role
Brilliant. I love this film so much.
Lots of love and support Mads! 👍
I've seen this movie one time. I refuse to watch it again as to not ruin the enormous impact. Brillant doesn't even come close.
one eye talks? OMG
Blender Dumbass AND HE HAS 2 EYES???!! IT ALL WAS A LIE :'(
Great actor! Smokes a lot does he?
Similar to his character in King Arthur which was one of the most influential, interesting characters in that movie, imho.
It used to be Daniel Day Lewis as my favorite actor, now it's Mads.
He's perfect for this role! He's from Denmark and in Denmark we were vikings back in the days (and still are)
he's right about paganism. Absolutely right
Good gods --- this film is fantastic...

Big Kurosawa influence
good stuff
tökély!!
Tak :-)
Great movie.
How do you interview for this? Throw the directors head into the wall then stare at him?
Only Mads can make shivering from cold sexy! Lol!
Can anyone list the directors he said this one was inspired by? I understood Sergio Leone, one sounded a bit like Tchaikovsky but he wasn't a director so I'm lost.
AMpufnstuf The first one was (Akira) Kurosawa, Sergio Leone, and the 3'rd one did sound like Tchaikovsky, and like you said he's not a director. Hmm.
Oda Lanizi Fucking Danes and their accents haha, I love Kurosawa and still didn't catch that. If any of you are pals with Mads please ask him who the third director was.

Kurosawa, Leone & Tarkovsky. To be clear, Tarkovsky is the greatest director ever along with Kubrick, so of course he was talking about him.
Grrrr!
2:45 i think hes wrong. the end of the movie screams different.
I know most Scandinavians can speak English quite well but his English is so much better than some people from English-speaking countries.
I'm in love! Dont know what my husband will say but who cares!! ;)
His next movie is Thor 2!
this guys great but honestly after seeing this i feel like i woulda played better, been absolutely stone cold not fidgeting or scratching my cheek
ouch

One eye represents Odin.
I know it's super late to comment but one eye is a manifestation of "Odin" the god.
this comment deserves more thumbs up
recorded on a potato, apparently

Was One-eye Christian for anyone ?
I (and many think) that it's Odhin in some sort of way (start with the one eyed feature)
I thought One-Eye (also the clear Odin reference) was a Norse warrior in Scotland and then they set sail for the holy lands and end up in America
NoirOrchestre No he was not
He represent both Odin and Jesus. Odin can see into the future as one eye does, and Jesus sacrifices himself as one eye also does for the boy
+Dominik DavidNo. He sacrifices himself for the boy (Balder in this case). It's from Norse mythology.
great acting by him ,fighting was great , boring story I can’t buy into the religious and political things in this movie beacause it wasn’t very charming.
Raaaaaaawwwwwwwwwrrr, i so wanna maul him
Thank god not.
Holy fuck that voice. Now I know why he never had any lines
Religion and God are two different things.lol. no we don't all agree with that
Grate film, but dear Mads Makkelsen, it have nothing to do with ViKings and your Gods. This picture is a f a n t a s y, not more.
