Katara was primarily self taught with the exception of Pakku but that’s irrelevant. She surpassed and beat both Azula & Zuko who had a DECADE of experience over her with the best training and arguably was on par if not very close to Toph as well. And Toph learned from the original earth benders. There’s no doubt at her Peak Katara would’ve been the strongest member in the group after Aang
Katara is so powerful with the sheer amount of water she can control at once and the precision she has to stop each individual rain drop is absolutely incredible. Her resourcefulness of using sweat, plantlife, and even water in the air and clouds makes her useful in almost any situation. Katara is the GOAT!
16:35 is what Hama wasn’t expecting and a moment I LOVE. Karata stood her ground like an earth bender instead of wavering like a water bender. She was so shocked and it showed how Karata is an elite water bender in both offense and defense.

The way if you look super closely at the gaang's moves throughout their progression, you'll see that they incorporate the other elements into their bending/fighting! It's most obvious with aang (obviously lol) but you can see it with katara, zuko, and even iroh sometimes its so cool! An incredible amount of detail was put into this show and I love seeing people analyze it and point out those kind of details

people always say that katara didn't stand a chance against azula, and if it wasn't for the fact that azula was unraveling mentally during sozin's comet, katara couldn't have bested her. and that she only bested her only because she had a trick up her sleeve, but people forget that katara bested azula in crossroads of destiny fair and square, and would have probably won too if zuko hadn't helped azula out.
