in azula's mind, azula is the only person who is important. she doesn't worry about the fact that she uses people. that sort of caring empathy where you're concerned about the harm of your actions doesn't compute in her mind because she's too self centered. if she betrays you, she doesn't care because she doesn't care about you. fairness and kindness have no meaning to someone like azula. she is the type of person to demand loyalty and respect from you but give nothing but betrayal and hurt in return. she's cold

The funny thing is that Azula's mental breakdown started when her friends Mai and Ty Lee betrayed her. Even though Azula was evil, it's still sad when you lose your best friends. I'm pretty sure in some way, Azula cared about her friends Mai and Ty Lee, even just a little bit, otherwise she wouldn't have been so negatively effected by their betrayal.

I don't think azula cared of her friends. Yes, she was shattered about their betrayal, but not because she cares for them. I think the reason is, that she felt about herself as infallible and perfect. That she was wrong about their loyalty and that they dare to betray her, destroyed the picture she had about herself and that's the thing that shattered her mind.

The seeds of a fall often lies in the roots of a rise itself.
Azula had manipulated and coerced her friends to join her. She used subtle threats and fear to make them do her bidding. Even the fact that they shared a history mattered very little to her when something important was at stake.
Eventually, they got fed up and learned to stand up for themselves when they betrayed her.

Particularly with Sozin launching the Hundred Year War he probably wanted as many citizens as possible, especially nobility to be able to fight in case of a mainland invasion. As much as Azula is my 2nd favourite character on the show (Katara is 👑, obvi), I’ve always thought that Team Azula should’ve had more difficulty in defeating Suki and the other Kyoshi Warriors.
Like sure, Azula is super well-trained in bending and combat, Mai has her blades and Ty Lee is a chi blocker extraordinaire, but they were still on some level three pampered aristocrats in comparison to the Kyoshi Warriors who'd spent their whole lives training in combat.
I know the fight scene was just supposed to be small because the episode was aimed at focusing on Appa’s lost days (lol literally) but maybe they should’ve had two fight scenes and had Team Azula almost lose but then defeat the Kyoshi’s in the end by some small margin.

    • @ddthewolf

I agree with this but someone who specializes in one or two combat practice (kyoshi warriors being on an island) will have a disadvantage from someone who has access to different mentors and can study multiple fighting strategies. I’m sure Kyoshi warriors are trained and all but they don’t have as much resources to learn from compared to these three.

Yes but the Kyoshi warriors were also not given mentors. They were taught through past knowledge of teachings and if you didn’t know they’re all young as well lol. So their whole lives isn’t really more than Azulas squad. Azula herself should be able to solo half of the warriors. And the other two have much more unexpected skills. It should’ve been more close for sure but not THAT close

    • @ban66a1
      @ban66a1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Suki focus was divided,in one side she must protect herself and her gang and the other she must assure Appa's safety from Azula, also Mai and Azula can fight from distance by throw the little dagger and flame while Ty Lee can do close encounters.

It may be a kid's show but the sadistic nature of Azula is deeply implied in some scenes..
She is actually the female version of Joffrey Baratheon!

    • @trevorn5753
      @trevorn5753 3 ปีที่แล้ว +26

She is NOTHING like Joffrey. Joffrey was a sniveling, cruel and sadistic child pretending to be a king. Azula is a clever, manipulative and talented battle strategist. She’s more like a Cersei or Daenerys. Maybe even an Aerys “Mad King” Targaryen

Heart to heart really hit me in a way that I can’t feel with other shows honestly when they all really sat and told each other the problem with themselves and honestly I feel like it shows a lot within the fire nation and the trauma with everyone azula just can’t feel but when she went crazy she really did feel everything she was suppressing

Team Azula showed how manipulating Azula can be, and really helped develop Mai and Tylee my only problem is that I wish Mai and Tylee got a bit more development and they could of end the hundred year war

Mai was tired of Azula long before the betrayal. Azula was the only person she snapped on during the canpfire scene.

rewatching how she recruited her “friends” especially Ty Lee… smh she NEVER cared about them in the slightest even if they did have actually history together even her “friends” were just tools to her.

Anyway!!! Thank you always for the Avatar series video😭😭 It's so wonderful!!! I'm happy to see you and find youT^T
May I love you? Yeah I love you!!!!!😇💘🥰💝

Azula thought of Ty Lee & Mai as her friends but she had such a twisted personality that she had a warped expression of affection. Most likely got it from her father who treated her the same way. Expected strict loyalty above all else & while dominating the dynamic. Her mother didn't really make much of an influence on her as on Zuko because Azula is a prodigy so her father did focus on her upbringing more & have her by his side more often. While Ozai valued loyalty above all else, he preferred competence & ability. From a young age, she excelled where Zuko didn't. So this is probably Azula's perception of affection & love.
Hence why she descended into madness when her friends betrayed her & felt resentment when her father didn't let her join him on conquering the Earth Kingdom campaign he did during Sozin's Comet. She needed someone at that time, hence why she wanted to join him on that & questioned him for the first time. Probably would've saved himself & her if he'd let her come along too. Aang would've had a harder time fighting both of them because Azula would've been in a better state of mind. She'd feel that at least she still had her dad.
