Sometimes a random look at the different ones gives you more of an idea of what might work for your homestead. Every farm is different. We take you through part of our morning routine and show you how some our chickens start their mornings in The Big Red Barn! Enjoy!

I want Wyandottes next spring, rose comb will be great up in northern mountains here. They are so pretty too, and seem to be good layers.

Hi Patara. I just love and enjoy all your videos. I'm being schooled via your channel. Truly so much to learn. Thank you so much. God bless you, your family and all the animals that provide food and joy. Love the names you gave them too. Take care.

Patara, am I crazy.....I thought one one of these videos you mentioned that ya'll have only been on your homestead for 3 years? Yes or no? HOW on earth do you know so much about all these chickens in just 3 short years? You have multiples that look just alike (to my untrained eye)---how can you remember all their personal names? You truly are the chicken whisperer!

The black copper maran roosters are stunning. Do the females have that many colors? Probably not because the boys are usually prettier. I saw your home grown baby but you said she's probably a mix. Opal has really neat markings too, I love the subtle grays, she is classy looking. Oooh, the speckled sussex are beautifully marked and are different, I love the mahogany color. What kind is the large white plain looking chicken at 5:15?
We had a mockingbird named Gracie that I rescued from a lot of neighbor cats and she was deformed, not sure if it was a break but she was crooked. Anyway, I had her in my office and would take her outside at times and the chicken sounds remind me of her. Full of sass and sounding grumpy a lot of times but she sure could sing pretty...she loved Christmas music and she learned Green Acres from me whistling it. Actually, she kind of had a playlist she went through, she passed but I do have a recording of her just singing her heart out.
    Thanks for sharing.

I was looking at all of your lovely ladies and you mentioned which ones are you better layers. It made me wonder, how do you keep track, when you have so many hen and they share boxes... How the heck can you tell who is laying what? LOL Love your videos.

That's weird in my experience game birds are the nicest birds you can ever have, but naturally males will fight as they are more closely related to red jungle fowl than laying and production chickens. I love all birds really but gamebirds are my hobby and passion

Hello. I am interested in various breeds of chickens and it was on your page. I started to learn English, and I really liked that Mrs. peq here said. Be kind enough to email me at any edges so to speak English, which would allow for it when I need to practice.
