  • In this video I do my best to create a family with all the top tier congenital traits in Crusader Kings 3. You can follow my example by sorting for traits when looking for marriages for your players an heirs as well as being sure to go down the 'Blood' dynastic legacy tree.
    I hope you guys enjoy!

Protip: giving a child to be educated by a character with an intelligence trait improves the chances that character has of getting the highest education trait. Basically the 'Genius' trait is very important to ensure you're not just breeding the strongest characters, but also that they get the best education possible. Controlling personality traits is also good, but there aren't that many personality traits that really give you trouble.

the base is 40% to get 2 points each year, randomly to any of the 5 traits, it's a complex formula but basically success chance and failure chance forms a ratio. with a guardian, any guardian, the success is extra 20, which is now 50-50. so don't forget to assign guardians to kids. genius is 15 to this points, intelligent 10, quick 5 and shrewd 5. yes it can be genius and shrewd same time, one is genetic the other is lifestyle choice. the focus is what he focuses on, and it will be between the 5 skills, rowdy is between martial and intrigue, bossy between martial steward, pensive between steward and learning, then diplo learning and lastly charming for diplo intrigue. you can somewhat control this by marriage. if you both are stewards, highly likely that the kid is either bossy or pensive. but if you are steward and marry martial it's mostly just bossy. the focus is +20 if he is good on it or -20 if not. 0 if no ability on it. technically you can go for the neutral but the opposite is -20 which is a lot. the focus is martial for martial or steward for steward, easy enough. this is 0.4 points for focus and 0.2 for learning. so genius worth 20 which is alone more than 50 skill. you won't find 50 skill with no modifiers. and the +5 on all skill is another 2.4 points. the best martial trainer is usually the holy order or band leader that's generated, but even he pales to comparison to a random genius. even quick is worth 5, so 0.4x12.5 and another 0.6 for 1 on all skills so 13 points. the scholar tree has the pedagogical trait which is a few random points when he grows up, it's not directly affecting this calculation but affects the result. so you don't need the full tree but having scholar trait means he has that. the star rating won't directly affect the educators quality like in ck2, but it's still 8 points for the educator which is 3.2 points worth.
the evaluation is 0-7-11-15+ so these are 1-2-3-4 stars. you can already see if he is successful when he reaches those numbers. there is a perk in the last family perks, 2nd one, which gives higher education more likely, I suppose that's 4 points to focus which is nice. that means you can't ever be under 2 star. the spouse can also increase the points slightly, but that's only for the player. also Ai characters while landed, having a wife can push it up their skill so the kids skill too, so might worth it as a guardian. so yeah, the kid gets 2 points or 0 with a 40-60 chance on default, for ai the first 2-2 kids are taught by the parents so 50-50. you can grind it up to 66% or a bit more with witch, scholar, I'm not sure on the groom to rule, I think not all bonuses count and the base is actually a bad thing if it's higher, but the negatives surely do as the positives come out of that and it's practically a higher base. so if you really want to micromanage, then go with the lower base from the duo of focus choices. also around 6% more if the kid is also genius but caps around 66% anyway.
the importance of this is the higher his learning stars, the events are more major and positive while low stars will be mediocre and unimportant and make mistakes. there is still a chance that you can increase learning stars later in your life if the spouse has a higher education in your focus or learning. a friend (sister) can also work for this, if she is still in court and you interact. so genius is superior to any other trait by big time. also gives extra learning ability to trees your focus doesn't match and honestly 30% on your non focus is a 3 star education to anything which is decent. especially with the new royal court you can have books and tapestry that pushes skills up so you can have around 46-50 monthly xp to your focus but 40 to your non focus is also possible. the main use of this is going for 5 years for 2-3 points like befriend, groom to rule and either confidants or gifts. or torturing and schemer 2nd perk down middle for extra plot resitance, maybe 3-4 for abduction. then just swap back to your main focus. usually I do two focuses, like 5 year diplo and then steward, or learning or whatever is my main, don't do 4, but 3 can be possible, like 9 in main, 3 in diplo and rest in learning. the groom to rule and torturer (dark insights) can be reset and re-applied again, giving 2-6 skills to all kids, and the torturing giving 5-10 prowess and 5-10 intrigue to you. befriend is really broken, as friends are harder to come by normally, and swaying is slower and won't guarantee a friend status. but you can also combine both and go for 60%+ befriend chance after gifts and sway, then hit the hunt/feast and can be completed right away as it's a higher chance you interact with them. friends give a bunch of skills, money stress reduction and other things. actually if you go learning tree, scholar is superior, but if you can spend 5 years for befriend as a genius and get those 3 traits then take learning scholar, the best is to pick up theologian, as it seems to be that you will get a few religion based events and more interaction with your priest and physician and you get way more points from making friend than focusing on scholarship right away.

Something else you should be focusing on in a playthrough like this, is your courtiers.
You should be marrying as many of your courtiers as possible to people with good inheritable traits, that way you essentially run a secondary eugenics program where you breed ideal candidates for your children to marry, candidates who are guaranteed to accept a marriage proposal because they're in your court.

From personal experience playing the game, inbred normally doesn't become an issue until you double dip into incestuous relationships. For example, when you married your daughter off to your nephew it was ok because they were only cousins to each other and it was the first introduction to inbreeding. Normally these types of relationships are good for getting those good negative traits. The issue started when you married your son to your granddaughter, which meant your heir married their niece which creates a much higher inbreeding %. To top it off the neice was already inbred further increasing the likely hood for negative traits and the horrible inbred trait. When using inbreeding, you really need to stick with cousin only relationships and you need to skip a generation and marry outside the family immediately afterwards.

    Congenital, not cogenital.
Also, about men at arms. Always make sure to have your culture's best special MAA, in this case it was Varangian Veterans and Huscarls. The most OP way to play the game is to make your heir a different culture, just so that when they take power they can recruit horse archers, or what ever that cultures best MAA is. In
You can also change your capital to a culture that you want to change to. Change culture, hire the men at arms you want, then wait for all your vassals to form a faction to rule themselves which then gives you an ultimatum/choice to change back to their culture, for a slight loss of fame.
In my playthroughs I try to play as Dyre or Greek, and end up with Varangian Veterans, Horse Archers, Mubarizun, Cataphracts, Metsanvartija. With this strategy you can focus your MOST of your building to be mostly financial with only a few being mil buffs since you already have the best MAA that also have counter multiple other MAA.

Right now I'm in my 4th generation of a game having as many children as possible, I created a kingdom where all my dukes and many of my barons are close family members, so by using the Diplomacy perk that improves schemes against family members, I can keep my powerful vassals loyal and manage the realm's structure with Sway and Fabricate Hook.

The best start I have found for this is starting as a custom character that is 32 years old, can take the Strengthen Bloodline descision (Beautiful, Hale, and quick plus has pure-blooded), has 1 daughter, and has the Messalianism, Adamitism, Mazdayasna or Zurvanism (for the unrestricted marriage doctrine). Starting with a daughter, and being 32 years old yourself means she is 16 and you can marry at the start of the game. Now, you might want to reroll if she does not have the pure-blooded trait (15% chance) as that will cause you a lot of pain. If you inbreed your dynasty a lot, you can easily retain, and renforce your traits, but you have to only breed pure-blooded individuls together, or you'll quickly get all the bad traits from inbreeding, minus the inbred trait itself, and if you breed anyone with any of those bad traits with someone they're related to, then you get the inbred trait.
The pure-blooded trait is a must if you want a true race of super humans, where everyone is beautiful, herculean, and a genius. Did this, although, since I didn't know how inbreeding really worked, and since the first character's daugther didn't have the pure-blooded trait it took me a while to get enough individuls with pure-blooded to make it work, and even then there were still a couple of bad traits that needed to be bred out of the family (club-footed was the worst, although, most everyone also ended up as a giant).

Using the daughters to seed the gene pool around you is almost mandatory, then marrying a cousin normally caps it off. The interesting part once you get it the next generation is all perfect, then after that the heir is perfect.

What does it mean to use the daughters to seed the gene pool around you? Does that mean you try to select postive trait husbands with for your daughters to breed with if you want your kids to inherit a specific trait instead of selecting postive trait brides for your sons?

    • @brett76544
      @brett76544 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@babyramses5066 Figure use the same culture group to marry daughters to. So they are around you, and if you can marry to second sons where the kids will be of your house, especially if the first son has a brave trait or you have a 20+ spymaster for removal. Ideally this is also the area that you will expand too later on and having someone in your house is easier to offer vassalage. Then there are your sisters that you married off where you did not kill off or the first son did not die off and you can use those nieces also to get counts or people with claims then go after those claims. Then any other female that you can invite to your court from your house. I avoid getting other lovers, and about the only time I do that now is if someone comes after me, it just seems they never get found out or if I have a really good female spymaster. Then I normally marry them after the wife dies and get more kids legitimized from that marriage or we do not have to hide them any more. Also it use to be bastards from a lover did not have a penalty for inbreeding, but now they do after a patch.

I absolutely adore trying to do Hastein to Madurai! FYI Madurai is the single best county in the game (it’s the one on the the southern tip of India with 7 farmland baronies, 25 dev in 1066 and impassable mountains giving nice borders. Once you get there take out the other Tamil Kings and just raid rich Indian lands. Use Sri Lanka to land your secondary heirs so they won’t inherit your domain. Eventually, form a hybrid culture and use your plunder to play tall!
To get there: attack Sicily or Sardinia, then Cairo, a Yemeni county, an Omani county, the Indian jungle county of Kamara (I think), then Madurai

I bred like 100 characters that all had trier 2 and mostly tier 3 traits, but then also giant and fecund. I did have a very hard time with pure-blood though. It went extinct very quickly.
A herculean giant is pretty crazy, though. It looks insane vs other characters. Eventually, it would be straightforward to find non-related partners that both had tier 3 of all traits. Using a warrior culture culture gives a bit of a boost. Then yes the blood dynasty legacies. And in the beginning using a ruler that would seduce and invite to court all the females with the best traits. Taking your granddaughter as a concubine doesn't hurt either.
In the end, since everyone has tier 3 traits, so do your enemy kingdoms as well as the vassals that start to rebel. Thinking about trying it with the monasticism tenet, as you suggested in one video. There doesn't seem to be a way to make the character with the best traits your heir, and make sure the others don't reproduce.
I prefered picking fecund as the blood legacy trait, since everyone was already either genius or intelligent.

Incest can also really help here, as you could also have a chance of getting the pure blooded trait that increases life expectancy and also reduces inbreeding chance. It also helps to get the third Blood legacy to reduce the amount of bad traits you can get, both randomly and through inbreeding. IMO perks 4 and 5 of the Blood legacy aren't too useful for genetics purposes so I'd recommend getting other legacies such as Kin in order to help your children get better education traits, for example.

Fun fact: Haestein has a bastard son in Kiev, Jarl Dyre of Konugardr, but since it's early, he is the head of his own house (kind of funny that you can legitimize yourself and restore inheritance yourself and you might get brittany or the isles). He is also one of the highest stat characters in 867 start and the genius trait. usually diplomacy but can be other focus with heavy on intrigue side, and heavy on stress too.
8:19 that's your granddaughter probably :) Oskyldr which is the house of the bastard son.
9:25 you might not played as Martin de Hauteville, but he is originally normann, and those lands in Sicily might swap to normann, unless he swaps to sicilian, norman is a better norse with a few more innovations and no land aside Sicily and Brittany. Napoli and Lecce is greek originally. Also it might be scripted but Sicilian culture has some events that swap lands quite fast without doing anything but controlling them early. Capua starts with it and it's actually best spot lategame as Napoli and Rome is on the sides of it and the development trickles down from both sides, and capua is the duchy capital, napoli (or palermo) allows forming a tiny empire for a bunch of gold and prestige. it's called 'empower sicilian parlament' so I think it's locked for sicilians and not available for corsicans or sardinians and doesn't even need those lands necessarily as it's part of the italian empire.
I don't like inbreeding and kind of kills the fun of it.
One trick you might not know: if you marry your daughters with random high skill guys, then revoke your city mayors, you can appoint your son in law as the new mayor. Since highest rank of a king, you get 4 extra kids for your daughters too (princess) and matrimonially will be your dynasty. Now landed gives 2 kids, 4 from rank and 1-2 base (1 coinflip), you can get 7-8 kids for her inside a city but less when unlanded and way slower. For empress is 8-9 per couple. The main benefit of this is that you can go over generations faster, and if you got a gap in generations, your grand grand daughter is fine with your nephew I think (4 gap no inbreeding I think but age is an issue because even your bro youngest bro might be too old for a baby). Also norse or some german cultures can set elections instead of normal inheritance, so you can swap family lines (you might lose the capital and all power with it). Also some kingdoms got elections by default (cherven cities). When I did this, I was having 6 domains with 19 cities and breeding kids nonstop. cities, because no tyranny when you revoke them. That means you can revoke when the female hits 45 and call back to court (if friend or related) and do with someone else, pumping out way more kids and generations. So I got really early double max trait people and above 40 stewardship rulers constantly like that. Yeah I also missed the part on the traits so I was having 2 random traits for long but I didn't do any inbreeding chance at all and all my rulers were genius.
And while the congenital line is the most important for this, the marriage +30 in the other perks is better early, also fertility buff on the last one (kin), even maybe the better education and then jump into the congenital traits. And diplo has writing history which gives 75-150 renown each 10 years which can buff up the first two levels of family renown early, after that it's easier to just expand the landed dynasty members and having ancestor worship gives a bit more renown for each marriage and kid and the first 200 rulers so the 75 is not worth it anymore. The biggest marriage issue is religion which is -1000 for hostile but within dynasty the hooks are enough to bring back most kids to court.
Well it's funny, but on patch before it was a fixed amount for each perk but then they added extra 500 for each consecutive one. But royal court now added the items which can give either flat or percent renown and easier recruiting and renown events. So probably you can get away with way less cities, just micromanaging the marriages in them.

If you have a son and a daughter with Pure Blood and a few good traits it gets VERY easy to breed super humans. It’s a numbers game. The best way to try and give yourself the best chance of long term good genes is to get a character with all 3 good traits (or at least recessive forms of them) and then just start having as many kids as possible (this is generally easier for a male character for obvious reasons). Take wives and concubines with positive traits and take lovers too. Then, start betrothing these children to other children from other mates, and you will likely see your traits skyrocket with almost no inbreeding for that first generation. Then, take your player heir, marry the best pick of the bunch, and you should see some pretty strong traits coming out with a SMALL risk of negative traits. (PS this is obviously politically expensive but after a few lifetimes of this you should find yourself with a strong and fruitful bloodline)

I even reform to strict no close kin policy then they don't even got an option to do inbreds (still happens because cousins are in range but lot less risky). Also I learned my lesson when my uncle pulled my kingdom from me but not the empire. So when I took it back I formed a double emprie with the same name, but my latest duchy conquered before it became the old empire. A single duchy empire is funny, it had 2 counties but was the other empire of Carphatia, and it went to my brother. It was a huge renown source with a tiny land. But all they did is marry those 2 courts together as there was no one else of our faith and they didn't wanted my vassals or me to get their claims or titles, so what they did is go in circles between 2 small courts and make 1000 inbreds, they fell in 100 years but then I just granted to another bro :D
I do eugenic programs in cities, as they are revocable with no tyranny so easier to control who owns it, who has the kids, 45 yo female? get out, next one. friends and family can come back in court and I can use those kids as new vassals or further breeding or worst case my vassals marry them and not my other vassals or inbreds. since they don't inherit claims, they are perfect vassals for new counties too.

Now holding Britain, Iberia and Aquitane by 1050 but my heir has only one trait (handsome) since I've avoided marrying primary heirs off internally so far, saw the negative effects on an inbred character and got scared. If you hop out of Ironman mode and control the bloodlines of multiple countries in diplomatic range of each other its a lot easier to avoid the inbreeding issue. That's what I'm doing in a campaign where I shoved like, 20ish ruler based on anime characters all across Scandinavia, Britain, and some of the Slavic countries. Almost 50 years in, and so far there's a decent amount of people with traits in all three trees without any maxed out, a whole bunch of geniuses cause I like smart characters, so a lot of my starting people had traits on that tree (and one couple with genius and intelligent had 8 kids, which helped a lot,) and a lot of people with genius and a high trait from one other tree - most notably the three beautiful geniuses who are the 3rd gen anime spawn. I'm not allowing anyone closer than 3rd cousins to marry, not allowing any pairings with more than an 8 year age difference, and selecting against personality traits I dislike, which is slowing down my progress some, but it's still going well. Except for the descendants of Tai from "Zombieland Saga," but their progenitor HAD to have possessed, lunatic, stuttering, and lisping to make her more accurate to the character...
