The Swedes created melo death and the Finnish and Japanese perfected it. Children Of Bodom, Mors Principium Est and Gyze are just the best melodic death metal bands in my opinion.
I think it is more simliar to power metal

I love this band more than I love myself
Man the drummer is insane, I play drums for like 8 years at this point but I'm not able to keep playing this high BPM for so long. Double Bass is hard but this guy just keeps going. Mad respect

TorturedUnicorn yeah, Gyze definitely has a nice mix of metal sub-genres, there are parts to this track that are really fast which says power metal to me, the rest is like you said, death and melodic
