I’m sure she’s happy up in heaven looking down on everyone, and I’m sure she wouldn’t want you to be sad. Though you may be feeling like it’s somehow your fault, remember that it isn’t anyone’s fault, and you all did all you could. I’m so sorry for your loss. 😢
Aww that's so kind, thank you. Yes we've been feeling so guilty but every dog owner we know has told us stories of dogs escaping, so we know it was just one of those things and we happened to get unlucky. I appreciate the kind words, dogs are such special creatures ❤️

Each one of them has his own doggy personality and get to connect with us in a different way. I just hope that whenever you feel ready, you allow yourselves a new doggy companion. Bonnie was unrepeteable but every one of them deserves a loving family like you.

As someone who lost their dog 2 years ago (thankfully due to old age) and is still missing her terribly and thinking of her everyday, I don't have the words to say how sorry I am to hear of this Sarah. I hope you can remember the good times, and hopefully it can help to slowly ease the pain. I will always remember when our dog got out and for 2 hours we couldn't find her, and we lived next to a busy road so feared the worst. Thankfully she was found safe and well, but I can't imagine how this must feel.

@@SarahNicholls Amazingly she'd managed to get really far, crossing several main roads. Eventually.a family found her and were on their way to the vets to check her microchip, and they happened to drive past us on our road, looking in bushes with torches. Such a relief to see her little head pop up from the footwell when they wound down the window! I can't imagine the pain of losing a dog so suddenly at such a young age. I'm glad you've got support from people and us online.
I'm so sorry for your loss, Sarah. We had to have our lovely lab Pepper put to sleep yesterday as he was in so much pain and distress after suffering from arthritis for so long. The most horrendous and difficult thing I've ever had to do emotionally. My heart goes out to you x

Hey Sarah, I’m so sorry to hear, we also lost our puppy almost exactly a year ago. She was only 8 months old. We were completely heartbroken for months. In February we adopted a 2 year old rescue who is a massive handful but after a few months she has calmed down a lot and is getting a beautiful life. In a weird way it feels like our puppy gave a loving home for our new rescue who would otherwise have not had one. I hope you find peace and after some time can open up your hearts to another dog.
