A much delayed and anticipated unboxing from @CityRockhounding Thank you very much for this material, and I will definitely run some in the tumbler. #lumixfz300 #panasonic #chert #fossils #flintandsteel
How exciting, this railroad was built back during the logging days and it revolutionized the industry of logging. They would cut the logs down and then cart them down the tracks to the Muskegon River and float them all the way over to lake Michigan. I want to say this stuff is from the old huge quarry up at the top of the mitten, next to the huge limestone quarry. You were correct about the rock identifications too, I used to call the ones Unakite, but the more im learning, I think some of them are just granite with epidote and feldspar which make up unakite. All of these were in videos, horn coral is from the railroads along with the chert, the brachiopods are from limestone field and the rest is from the sandbox. Thats cool watching the spark test, I just learned something new this morning, how cool. Im glad you like them, and I can't wait to see how they tumble too! A lot of the fossils too will react to UV light, like the corals, a cool yellowish glow. Lisa pointed that out to me about a yewr ago now, I had no clue before her. I always enjoy your humor and videos, thanks for sharing my friend. Ok, I have to get going to the barn, running behind this fine morning.
Thank you very much for this box of awesome City Rockhounding, I hope you folks are all doing well, and thank you for the information, we are lucky enough to have part of a logging RR on our property, but they didn't leave the ballast sadly, LOL.
Very nice of him to send all those goodies! I would love to see those railroad chert after you tumble them. Awesome load of fossils, too! Thanks for sharing ❤
Wow that is a nice box with all kinds of things ! The famous railroad chert is so nice. I also wondered where it came from. It is so unique and so pretty ! The fossils are awesome and yes a lot to learn with fossils. I still get mine mixed up and have to learn to not call them anything until I am 100% sure, lol Great unboxing, Thanks for sharing😊
Hi there Up North Adventures and thank you. City is good peeps for sending me this awesomeness. I think the RR chert is really cool, just kind of bummed I could not catch a spark! As far as fossils go, Petosky, chain corral and Favosites I am pretty good at, the rest, not so great, LOL.
I just love Nic and lily! When you ask for something from Nic, he sends it, with about a thousand other things too! He is so generous and he is so busy at the barn all the time, that he doesn't have the time to go rock hounding like he used to. But he still sends everything that he has found up to that point! Nic is such an awesome person and his channel, City Rockhounding is one that I haven't been able to watch lately.i for about a month behind in all of my favorite channels, and I just got Internet now, and am able to watch video on a TV, instead on my phone! So please forgive me for not keeping up, and I will never be able to make up all of the ones that I've missed, but MrCH and City Rockhounding, you guys are some at the very top of my list! MrCH, that was a fantastic box of chert! Thank you for sharing that spark test that you wanted it for, and now you have some of the most uniquely beautiful rail road chert to tumble as well as Cher and other cool minerals from the sandbox to tumble as well! Thank you for sharing your lovely gift from Nic @City Rockhounding, even if it was late! And Nic, you are as awesome as ever! ❤❤❤❤❤ Much love to you both!
Aww thank you Lisa so so much for saying all this, it truly means the world to us! MrCH and myself are so grateful and lucky to call you our friend, you're a huge inspiration to us and to everyone in this amazing community, and you're a huge part of my family! I really miss making video and getting out in nature, especially during the fall colors! I plan on going out in the woods tomorrow, I'm excited, it's been about a month or so now. Thank you Lisa, you're a special friend and a gift to all!
@@CityRockhounding Awww thank you Nic! You and your whole family are so special to me too! I know how you feel though, since my move, I've been so out of touch too. I haven't been able to watch videos and even the podcast is hard for me to get into on my phone! So it's just as well that you haven't been able to go out and produce a full-length video! I wouldn't be able to watch it! But I have Internet now, although it's still kind of a spotty, but I look so forward to seeing a video from you!
Thank you Largent45, your kind words have made my eyes leak for some damn reason, much love to you as well Lisa, and no worries about playing catch up. I hope you are in a better situation with the move. And for sure Nic Rocks!
@@MrChubbyHubby. I am in a better situation with the move now and thank you for asking. Things are finally coming together for me and it's about time, it's only been six months now! Things got stuck in a rut when I lost my cat and I went into a really deep depression that took me a long time to get out of. But although I still miss my cat terribly, I'm doing much better now. And life is treating me ok I just wish the weather would have held out longer but fall in Oregon waits for no one! It's cold and raining constantly and bitterly cold. Getting down to the 30's at night already and into the mid 40's for the high. So it's going to be a long cold winter but that's Oregon for you! Lol. I hope you and MrsCH are both doing well. And thank you for excusing me from catch up, but I can watch what I want, when I want, and you can't stop me! Love ya MrCH! Thanks for always caring and being one of the greats!

Railroad chert is the best. It's amazing how much Nic and Lily find right out their back door. Cool stuff from even cooler people!
