  • This one weird trick ensures I'll never be able to find one of these harnesses again once y'all go out and get them.

    Thanx for the info. Makes a sense and a much better way to wire up fans in an ls. Nice job.

    Your Pull a Part must be better than mine. I grabbed the fans and harness and they charged me $65 since they sell the harness separate. Heck, while looking online they have prices for airbags but you pull a steering wheel and the air bag and they take it since they have a deal worked out with a guy that buys them locally. Heck, any sets of wheels worth having they pull for sale or if they are aluminum they yank them and sell them to the recycle place as aluminum scrap. I snagged a set of aluminum rims off a AMG they hadn't been able to get off the car and I played hell getting them pointing out what the sits says and that I would call the corporation entity and report it. Instead of the quality grading they have listed on the site they made me pay the aluminum scrap value.

      Yeah some places are sketchy with parts and prices, some are better, it depends who's working that day also.

    Good vid except the green is actually low speed both fans (engine temp)..blue is high speed 1 fan (ac trigger)..both wires triggered =both fans on high for max cooling..

    • @weshunt123
      @weshunt123 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Except that is not correct either. Actual fan signals are comprised of engine temp, a/c pressure, and vehicle speed. Each speed, both high and low, has nearly the same parameters.

    • @spyderlyf3
      @spyderlyf3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @weshunt123 how far you wanna deep dive the subject..I'm talking basic mechanics..most disable fans after 35mph or so with the option to override given ac pressure or eng temp. Didn't feel the need to elaborate that far.. we're talking basic modding from a mech fan setup..mine currently are not tuned to vehicle speed..that is going to change..

    Good evening, can you help me? I have the same connection and I want to install it on a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. If you please, I want to know the line numbers that are connected to the PCM and to know the connectors that are connected to it. Thank you very much, and I appreciate and respect you.

    Would I have to still get my computer tuned for fans if my truck doesn’t have fans already tuned in it

    • @wilsworkshop
      @wilsworkshop  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If your computers not tuned for it, then yes, you'll need to get them activated in the tune. It's really easy to do and literally just takes a minute, just gotta find someone who can get in there and do it.

    Will the fan system work on the old LS or only the 05 and up the electric fans came on factory

    • @wilsworkshop
      @wilsworkshop  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It'll work with all of the gen 3 LS computers, 1999-2007, just need to make sure the electric fan settings are turned on in the tune, most earlier ones arent active from the factory since the majority used a mechanical fan.

    Question I got the harness but don’t have the connection that goes to the computer can I cut the connect off splice wire and run it to the ecm?

    • @wilsworkshop
      @wilsworkshop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, just run them straight to the computer. The connector is just there for when they assemble it at the factory I assume.

    If I run this set up on my 03 sierra. Do I need to have it programmed for electric fans?

    • @ttrmotocross
      @ttrmotocross 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes

    • @wilsworkshop
      @wilsworkshop  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Usually yes it needs to be turned on, but I've seen some computers with the E-fans turned on but the truck equipped with a mechanical fan. The only way to know is to check the tune, which at that point you can just turn them on if you have the software to check it.

    Quick question would these harness work on a 98 tahoe as a stand alone??????

    • @wilsworkshop
      @wilsworkshop  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep. The wiring is really basic for the fans and power. What you would need is a way to trigger the two ground wires that normally run to the computer. A cheap electric fan thermostat like you would use on an aftermarket fan would work. All the 2 wires need are a ground connection for the fan relays to switch on.

    Can this method be used for gen4

    My harness connections are red/blue can this still work?

    • @wilsworkshop
      @wilsworkshop  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorta, the Red/Blue harness uses the Red 33 wire for the AC Clutch. If you're not using the AC Clutch wire, you can have the PCM reprogrammed to control a fan from that wire. If you are using the AC Clutch you need to figure a way around the issue with another relay.

    Great fan power video. I couldn’t find anything like this 5 years ago when I set up my system. Thanks for Showing the 1 fan on for low and 2 fans on for high. How does the factory setup run the fans when the AC is on? Does it energize just the low fan or both fans?

    • @wilsworkshop
      @wilsworkshop  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I kind of misspoke in the video. The low setting is both fans at half speed (6v per fan), high speed (12v per fan) is both fans at full speed (the 3 relays is what makes this possible). When testing the harness/fans like I did with 1 trigger wire at a time you get 1 fan/2 fans, but when installed on the vehicle you'll get both low or both high.
      When the AC is on the computer runs both fans at full speed if the AC fan settings are met, which is based on 30 MPH or less vehicle speed (some operating systems) and AC line pressure, typically enable at 220psi, disable at 150psi.

      @@wilsworkshop
      The 3 relay setup I copied and built from a TH-cam video does the same. Power is sent through both fans at 1/2 speed for low and both at full speed for high speed. I’m still figuring out how my AC will work with the fans. I currently have a relay to turn on both fans at 1/2 speed whenever the AC switch is on, it’s not speed sensitive.
      I’m going to pick up a truck fan relay & harness the next time I go to the used OEM parts store (junkyard)!
