As a keeper... wearing glove during the entire game, last thing I need is an undone lace with I need to flag the referee for so my defenders can lace em up for me... I currently use both laces (AG) and laceless (SG) but the peace of mind is worth it

hey josh, i just got the neymar speed freak elite and i was wondering what you thought i them they feel great and i love the low-cut thing with the sock like feeling.
I discovered that aside of the visual effect of the lace cover in both phantom vision, i don´t need to tie my laces that hard or more than once, this is because the cover keeps them in the same position as many times as i kick the ball, so they get protected, and in other boots i need to do a second knot in order to keep them tied up, or tie them every certain time, or do a really hard knot.
You know... I bought a pair of laceless football boots, then made some holes, so I could wear a pair of SR4ULaces. ❤

I never tried the vapor 11 but I wonder if the anatomychal chasis feels as good as on the split design.I really enjoy the tight feeling of the boot and how it wraps underneath. Can a one piece soleplate achieve that feeling?
The anatomical feel is pretty well the same, but the split sole version just feels more bulky, or is at least thicker underfoot. If they put the Vapor 11/Superfly 5 soleplate on the Vapor 13/Superfly 7, the boot would be every bit as good and also lighter.

On the end of each play test please weight rubber that you will get in to the boot.

I'd say they're all pretty equal. Unless you're sliding around out there, which is basically suicide on turf, very little to nothing at all will get into the boots.
Hey Josh, which upper is more thin and flexible, the Nike Tiempo legend elite 7 or Mizuno Morelia Neo?
The Neo is certainly thinner, although the Tiempo will have a softer, more flexible feel. That's not to say that the Neo is stiff though.

Is it safe for the durability of the studs to wear Nikes' AG-PRO stud pattern on HG?
Over time, they'll definitely wear down a little, but that will happen to any studs on hard ground. You should be alright.
Has anyone ever mentioned using mid cut boots for protection? Not very thick, but sometimes that extra layer of fabric can help. Better than wearing separate ankle guards.

i think the reason for the split sole on the mercurials is because of the arch in the anatomical soleplate, a one piece sole did not flex properly.

Not much you can do to be honest. Double socks is worth a shot I guess, but at the end of the day, they make different sizes so you can get the right fit. If it's the wrong size, you can't make them fit.

I like the high / mid cut boots because I use orthotics and since the orthotics are thicker than the boots insoles, the sock keeps my foot in the boot better. Makes it so that my heal doesn’t slip because I have a very narrow heal.
But with laceless you feel more comfort because the laces aren’t locked tight on top of your feet so it does give you a better peformance in a way

Had a rough fight with an opponent. He had "ankle support" mid cut collars, but after we both hit the ball at the same moment (is is called pressball?). Well his ankle was over bent afterwards. So looks > sense
I truly believe the conventional kangaroo leather boots give you the best touch and feel.
I have bought my first lacless boot for a indoors cup when its winter and then in summer and i hate getting my foot in the boot and laced boots are better with lockdown and its easier to get the foot in the boot
I would like to argue in support of collar boots. Yes they do not provide any ankle support however they do lockdown the heel and keep it snug. I just purchased the mercurial Vapor 13 and my ankle seems to be loose when I press off the ground. Not sure why but when I wear the Superfly, I feel more locked in and my heel is stabilised within the boot. This may or may not be due to the fact of the collar, I am not sure. I just feel more locked in and less worried about my heel not moving around or feeling loose with Superflys than Vapors. Just a food for thought...
I believe you, but there is physically nothing different about the construction of the heel or the shape/fit of the boot between the Vapor and Superfly right now.
I like the idea of some as lace cover to keep the laces in place instead of a cleaner touch.

As a youth player I would twist my ankle every single year, maybe even multiple times a year. The first time I wore cleats with ankle cover was the magistas and I didn’t twist my ankle. Now I always get Nike boots with the ankle cover and I NEVER twist my ankle, has been 5 years and I don’t consider that a coincidence. I believe the ankle on the boot does give support even if only a little bit, either way, I would definitely twist my ankle in cleats without ankle cover.

The Elite is a lot better, but the Pro is still a very good boot. I think the Pro is equivalent in regards to performance characteristics to some previous top-end Mercs.

the mid cut collar is actually just more comfortable on the ankle because theres nothing rubbing on it. Its no support :)

I'll be honest, i disagree with the laceless part for some boots. Like the X speedflow. The Speedflow+ had this incredible upper that was a perfect mix of rubbery grip, padded material, and Primeknit. The speedflow.1 upper was suuuper thin and almost felt like plastic to me. It was just super creasey and not flexible or comfortable to me. I have a moderately narrow foot.
I agree with him in this video about laceless boots I wear some but the laceless boots are just a preference and I don't understand why some people think it enhances performance. Just my take
Isn’t the collar there to protect that nothing comes in the shoe for example Like playing on artificial grass that granules doesn’t come in.
That is a secondary benefit of the collar, but not the intended "benefit" for it being there. At least no brand with a mid-cut football boot has ever disclosed "keeping turf pellets out" as a highlight feature of their collar.

Not a fan of laceless boots but they can come in handy for goalkeepers by not having to remove their gloves to tie their shoelace. Even then, a gk myself, I prefer laces and I just ask a teamate to tie my shoelace.
Laces can be really annoying when your playing and you boots get undone and then u have to tie them back up with cold hands
