- An animatic I have been working on for a while :o) !!! It took around 2 weeks to finish, so enjoy!

This is fantastic! Also gives two things I wish the show had: a Jasper song, and her and Amethyst having some interactions that don't involve punching each other XD
There are two *very* brief scenes in which Amethyst says "sis" to Jasper, one when she bubbles her gem after their fight at the end of season 3, and one, non-dubbed but with her lips forming the words, at the end of season 5 when Jasper is unbubbled and uncorrupted, while the "We are the Crystal Gems" reprise is sung. Buuuut yeah this video gave us more sisterhood and I'm here for this :D :D

I love how the song speaks of purpose, the thing Jasper struggled with the most, especially flashing Steven when the lyrics "I think about my purpose...can I somehow preserve this?" Echoing her purpose with pink! Amazing work!!

ugh i was not expecting this but it's everything i wanted, the way you drew all of jaspers trauma, how well the song fits her and her issues of self worth tied to her power and strength, so good!!
The moment where she sings "never breaks...." Gets shattered. Exits the bathtub "no mistakes" is SO FUCKING CLEAN DUDE. MY WHOLE BODY GOT CHILLS.

Every single frame is so well-thought out, and the quality of the references are just *chef’s kiss*
Honestly, I especially liked how Jasper literally went *under the surface* of the water when that line was said at 1:40, and how each of the hexagon walls bumping into jasper was timed perfectly with the boulders falling in the original scene at 2:44.
Jasper was such a good choice for this song and all the scenes fit in with lyrics perfectly.
I could honestly just write an entire essay about this, it’s just amazing, seriously.
If Steven Universe hadn't been canceled because Cartoon Network wasn't afraid of losing views across the seas, we probably could have got something like this.

The song at 2:07 sounded so familiar to me but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. It just gave me Steven Universe/Adventure Time vibes. And while trying to figure that out I found this masterpiece. It’s awesome 👏

Oh my stars. I just saw Encanto and was looking for a video like this, expecting a Garnet AMV or something.
But this is. This is so much more. This fits Jasper so PERFECTLY. Kudos to you for, for all this, for illustrating all of her struggles and point of view so amazingly, and for painting this messy sisterhood with Amethyst (faintly evoked in the show).
Also the presence of Lapis during the underwater mention was a stellar move.

about damn time that someone put jasper to this song: it fits her WAY too perfectly not to.
Oh fuck yes someone who realizes how absolutely terrible Jasper's had it. I'm all for Jasper being the big bad villain but like. She came out completely perfect and was expected to uphold that 24/7, even by the Ruby Squad when Amethyst pretended to be her. She actively paused and faltered when first hit by Amethyst's whip, and judging by the fact that Holly Blue has an electric whip... Yeah some dots can be connected. I don't think a weapon defines a Gem but Jasper's weapon is defense at it's base, she had to find out ways to use it offensively, and as shown in canon prefers to use the Quartz Spinny Ball, Gem Destabilizers, or in Malachite tends to use Lapis's water control (and turning it to ice which is a neat combo). While I love Lapis, she was an absolute *asshole* to Jasper while Malachite was formed, as you showed. Her diamond was the person Jasper was expected to take down. Jasper is the *first* true on-screen shattering ever seen.
Let's be real all the shown Quartzes are fucked up (Famethyst, Amethyst, Jasper, Skinny Jasper, Carnelian, Ect.) but they were also made on Earth during/around/after in Amethyst's case the war so yea-
Yeah just imagine being basically tied up and constantly in a state of drowning and fighting for MONTHS if I recall, desperately struggling to get control and when you finally do you get it for a few seconds at best before being drowned again.

Wow, this was SO AMAZING! And it really made me realize that...Amethyst was LUCKY she came out of the ground after the war. If she had come out earlier she would've either been bubbled for centuries like the Rose Quartzes, or forced to serve Blue or Yellow Diamond, both of which probably BLAME Pink's gems for not protecting her properly. And Jasper has it worst of all because she's always been revered as a perfect, powerful specimen. So she probably took a brunt of blame from the Diamonds herself, especially from Yellow, and internalized all that as failure on her very existence.

While I say that this is fitting in a sense for Jasper, I think this song was more fitting for Stephen. Love your animation though. It was brilliant.

the moment she fuses with lapis foward I couldn't hold my hype, this is SO GOOD and so underrated, I LOVED the transitions like in "under the surface" (when she fuses) and when Steven breaks her, you did an amazing job! It is probably one of my favorite animatics as concept!!!

HOLY CRAP!! I know this is a few years old now but seriously, KUDOS!!! THIS IS INCREDIBLE! You are so skilled in not only drawing and animating beautifully but also just making a bunch of frames and drawing so… meaningful! This song was also just downright, hands down, PERFECT for Amethyst and Jasper. I cannot even find words to express just how genuinely impressed this animation made me. Oh, so I’m not the ONLY one who had the idea for a Jasper animatic after hearing this song…
Here’s what my version would be like:
CONTEXT: This is part of my post-Future AU focused on Jasper’s rehabilitation, Steven’s continued healing, and Emerald becoming the next big bad. At this point in the story, Jasper has saved Amethyst from being shattered by a drone created by Emerald, but Ames ends up getting poofed. Shortly after reforming, Amethyst goes to check on Jasper and the song happens.
The animatic itself would visualize Jasper’s insecurities and angst similarly to what was done here, but instead of just her memories of getting her butt whooped, there are moments where she “hijacks” significant scenes from the series’s past (for example, instead of Amethyst getting bleached by White Diamond, Jasper shoves A out of the way and takes the hit).
When I first heard this song in theaters, I IMMEDIATELY made comparisons between Jasper and Luisa (and not JUST for the fact they're both "swol")

jasper is really misunderstood in very specific aspects, that’s why i love her in later seasons
I miss the show, now that steven is gone and we KNOW for a fact that there is a lot of gems that even tho everything changed they still like the stuff they were made for, like Amethyst who loves a good fight and Jasper who literally LIVES for FIGHTING, IT would be amazing to see an official spinoff of a tournament in little Home Planet where Jasper gets bored and gets to organise matches with other quartz cause they miss a good fight and ofc this would get Amethysts attention, the potential.. oh god I wish we could have got more Amethyst and Japer moments and I think thats the perfect oportunity for that
