  • This is our vintage little Toyota Sunrader. It is the legendary R-22 engine and is a true one ton chassis. This video shows what it looks like when we bought it in 2003 until the time we remodeled it in October 2012.

Love watching you video! You brought a great little camper back to life! I also bought my camper from just a photo, and was in the doghouse for a while. Mine was "Home brewed" using a Peterbilt and a Kidron refer box! Check her out if you want, we call it "Cactus Pete"! Have fun with yours, take care and stay safe!

Awesome looking motorhome! I remember these Toyota truck based motorhomes. I'd buy one if I could find someone who also likes road trips.

From the minute I saw one of those Toyota campers, I fell in love. It's just me and my dog and they look easy to drive. Unfortunately, I was about to be scammed. It was listed on Craigslist. ..then the whole send me a pay pack, etc started. (2500.00 was all I had). I was suspect of the way they wanted to make transaction and started researching. Thankfully, I saw the same vehicle listed for 3 mnths in different states w different story before i sent her the money -so knew it wasn't gonna happen. They were gonna take my money and bolt. I ended up buying a 25' 1975 Ford coachman for a bit less. I'm petite and it's kinda daunting to drive. I was able to see it before purchase though. Still working on it after 8 mnths. Ugg. Really LOVE LOVE LOVE what you did with that Toyota!!! I'm subscribing. ..in case you ever anounce you're selling her. ;-) Super cute.

Looks great all except that box on the back stuck up in the air like a sore pecker...hahaha! Drop it down and hinge one end so you can slide it open to access the storage in the camper above the bumper...

Great music vs dumb chatter on other camper vids. And your video techniques are superior too. How’d you like to rebuild my mini-wini built on an 82 GMC chassis...You are so ambitious and I don’t have your kind of skills. You are an artist. (I am a musician) Bourbon St...oh yeah, though Royal St. was more up my alley...The gas mileage on the GMC 8 cyl was atrocious. My older bro talked me out of a 4 cyl Toyota and convinced me to get the GMC...grrr. Prior to that I had a wonderful VW Westphalia....mechanical problems have dogged me along the road of life. Most recently a friend bought me a Volvo stationwagon that I traveled and camped in till it too developed engine trouble. It sits in the garage at the moment in need of cleaning out so it can be diagnosed and maybe repaired...but your Sun Raider reminded me of the several Toyotas my in-laws let us use. I live out in the country where I bought an e-bike but it too has given me problems with the battery and/or charger. Where do I find a skilled person like yourself to get me back on the road?? Hey Allen- I'm curious- Did you remove the bathroom/shower enclosure to put the new floor down or did you cut around it? I would like to replace the entire floor in mine, but the new floor would raise the shower enclosure and the window to the exterior would not allow this. We should exchange emails and compare notes on this. -Warren

I'm looking at a 79' SUNRADER for $1500 and he already gutted the inside. well, peeled the inside. everything is still there. He said it has a locked motor but 20R motors are easy to find and cheap! $200-$400 including the transmission depending on the sellers situation.
By the way there is no such thing as a "HOT WATER HEATER" If you have "HOT WATER" why would you heat it? It's called a "WATER HEATER" Old folks call them boilers even though the water never "BOILS".
If you and your wife like the interior of your camper... Screw the haters! I didn't like the choices either but like i said... IT'S YOUR CAMPER YOU DO IT HOW YOU WANT IT!
