Built In Deck Seating People Will ACTUALLY Sit On!

Built in deck seating is something I see on a lot of projects, but most of the time they are built in a way that makes them uncomfortable or awkward to sit on. The built in deck seating we are doing here is going to be the best spot to chill on this entire deck. The seating is built into a sunken conversation pit that is centered with a fire pit between the two deck levels.
Here's a couple tips to make your built in deck seating more comfortable!
1. Build a backrest into the seating. A deck bench without a back is uncomfortable and will rarely be used.
2. Angle the back of the seat. Give the backrest of the seating a slight recline to make it feel like a couch instead of a regular old deck bench.
3. Add cushions to the seating. A deck bench with no cushion is stiff and uncomfortable, leaving them rarely used on the deck.
4. Arrange the built in seating around a focal point of the deck where people will want to gather. Here we are positioning the seating around a fire pit, which makes it a natural place for people to sit and relax with one another on the deck
