I used a HDMI to Cat5 adapter over a distance of over 75 meters across a hockey arena. The key to getting high performance over long distance is by combining the ethernet adapters with an HDMI active repeater. The HDMI repeater boosts the transmitting signal before it goes through the ethernet adapter. Only downside is the removal of any HDMI-CEC compatibility.
Thank you so so much. I really appreciate the fine details of the subject. I especially like the advice regarding CAT6 through out my house. It would be a pain to have to replace all the wiring. Again thanks for the informative video 👍
very well presented - thank you. Alas I bought the bi-cable cheapo ones not realising that they wont work over my Cat6 LAN. I didn't realise they were essentially point to point connectors - BUT ta for explaining it to me.
nice video, i must say however, when doing this whatever cat cable you run cat 5 or 6 even shielded wire try to stay away from high voltage wires such extension cords or junction boxes. also if you do manage to run your cat5/6 wires in a attic or basement or inside your walls stay away from your homes high voltage wires. try to be at least 2 feet away when running parallel to get one place to another or simply run everything higher than everything else. you can cross your wires to an extant but not parallel and really close to each other or even through coils of high voltage. reason being high voltage wire has a greater/stronger magnetic field than your low voltage wire which can interfere with your data. just food for thought for those of you who want to do some diy in your home.
Thank you for this video! I've just bought some of these as the distance I need the video feed to travel is 13 metres... therefore I'm pretty confident that they are a very cheap ace product for the job!

Hi mate. I have just bought the single port version. I'm running a 10 metre cat 6 cable to run 1080p to a tv.. not working. However if I use a 4 metre cat5e cable it works.. but I need 10 metres! The ad I bought it from said 1080p 30 metres with cat 6.. any thoughts?
Don't you think that if technology moves on in 10 or 15 years they would not be making these adapters for CAT 5 or 6 as the cable category will also have advanced?
Shielded cables make a big difference. Especially in this case Cat 6 UTP only has a guaranteed bandwidth of 250MHz. Cat 6A doubles that (500MHz) and is at least F/UTP or U/FTP. Of course S/FTP is even better and Cat 5e S/FTP will probably work better than your Cat 6 UTP cables. These adapters may even need a shielded cable to work properly.
have you tried usb over lan? I wanna connect my gaming to pc to my tv (about 20m) using the hdmi over lan adapters like on this video and usb over lan adapters... but not sure if there will be latency

If i connect CAT5e cable to switch from projector and computer connect to the same switch does it possible in this way to stream from computer to projector over lan in the same network ? And there is more class with this situation. it is possible by using this adapter connect all projector and computers to the same switch and make connection over lan, but how does it can be seperated, because in this video its connected directly to transmitter and receiver devices.
great video, on another note I have noticed that newer tvs are dumping the scart plug and the cheaper dvd players still have scart plugs, would love if you did a video on hdmi cables to scart, thanks
Great video. I do have a couple of questions. First, will this only work by directly connecting the cables, or will it still work if you connect via an ethernet hub? I have my PC next to the router in one room, and then use cable from the router to a hub in the living room for the TV and other devices. Secondly, do you think that transmission distance might be improved by better cable? I'm using Cat 10 cable between rooms right now.
it' can work if u connect 2 hub for each cable , not the 2 cable in same hub , bcuz it's 2 signal different ,, so typically if u use hub it's for double for 2 or 3 tv ,, in this case you need 1 hub for each cable , cable A = hub 1 , Cable B = hub 2 ,,
or else u can use '' hdmi to fiber , '' it's can run 10 km , and try to buy firber in asia ( it's cost less than europe ) , i want use that for rent my ps4 to my neighbor , but it's need a converter usb to ethernet , for send to joycon too ;) lol
Excellent video, congrats for that. I have a question. Can I put some connectors on hdmi splitter outs to anothers TVs in? The larger distance required is 35 m. Thanks in advance!
is that realy the only way to use it? because i was planning to put the transmiter from my pc to the router and then lan ethernet from router to laptop so i can turn my laptop into spacedesk extender monitor.
Great video do 2 of the smaller adapters fit next to each other on a standard powered small 2 output splitter and do you get any decrease in video quality through a powered 2 output splitter
Yes it will work but varies on adapters and power line kit. I’m not sure about the speed but I know that hdmi over lan works through power line kits, I recommend TP-Link ones as I use them my self for my PC.
@@will42345 Thanks Vince. I think I got my nomenclature wrong. I've been doing much research (including one of your recent videos) and found that there is a big difference between HDMI over Ethernet Cables (Cat5/6) and HDMI over IP, the latter being fine through powerlines but the former actually NOT working through powerlines. So can you confirm that this is the case? You seem to be the font of this kind of knowledge!
Hello Mate I was wondering if I could ask you a question. I would like to put my PC tower away somewhere so I would have it in a cupboard and the keyboard and mouse and screen in the living room is there a way to do this ? Thanks for any help.Karl
Hi, yes, you can use USB extenders for the mouse and keyboard and these HDMI extenders to connect up your TV or get longer VGA or HDMI leads. The other option if your PC is already in another room and you want to access it in a new room is to use long HDMI leads or these HDMI extenders to get the picture onto a TV and then use Team Viewer or remote desktop on your mobile phone to control the PC in the new room. I will do a video on this last setup (with Team Viewer) in the next couple of weeks.
You said something about HDMI IP is there anything that does everything in one kind of thing ? Have a box that you plug your Monitor USB devices in where the PC is and its over Ethernet or maybe Thunderbolt ? Thanks again !

What is the benefit?? instead of using a double hdmi adapter so 2 hdmi ports and not ethernet??
Thank you I knew about HDMI over IP but didn't know this one sounds great if don't need to pass trough switch or router than you
Great video. I'm using Cat 10 cable between rooms right now.
it' can work if u connect 2 hub for each cable , not the 2 cable in same hub , bcuz it's 2 signal different ,, so typically if u use hub it's for double for 2 or 3 tv ,, in this case you need 1 hub for each cable , cable A = hub 1 , Cable B = hub 2 ,,
or else u can use '' hdmi to fiber , '' it's can run 10 km , and try to buy firber in asia ( it's cost less than europe ) , i want use that for rent my ps4 to my neighbor , but it's need a converter usb to ethernet , for send to joycon too ;) lol
clever but how do you account for using a remote (such as a roku remote) when the box is in another room?
Lol
Hi, great video! Could you specify what is the single cable product you tested? I could not find any single passive one like that.
Hi, thanks, that looks like the same product :-)
@@Mymatevince please call me
Excellent video, congrats for that. I have a question. Can I put some connectors on hdmi splitter outs to anothers TVs in? The larger distance required is 35 m. Thanks in advance!
How long distance can fix the cat5 cable for single port?
Shielded Cat6A is the best way to get a signal over 15 meters
What is the Best cat 6 cable for the extension. UTP of FTP
is that realy the only way to use it? because i was planning to put the transmiter from my pc to the router and then lan ethernet from router to laptop so i can turn my laptop into spacedesk extender monitor.
This video is 4 years old, but you can also just buy a cheap 4K Cables instead even for 1080p.
Great video do 2 of the smaller adapters fit next to each other on a standard powered small 2 output splitter and do you get any decrease in video quality through a powered 2 output splitter
Hey mate nice video but what is the downside of using that extender?
Brilliant video thanks a lot
Can u use this using power walls ?
Hey Vince, October 2019 now, I see HDMI over LAN with IR tx/rx for £30. Will this work thru powerline? And if so, what speed powerline?
What does my cat have to do with ethernet.?
Hi, I don't think there is one device that does it all.
I didn't think there was thanks anyways mate !
The better solution would be to buy a small pc and use that for your media as they are easier to hide
Any idea why not over powerline? Shielding?
Alex Knight powerline is not Layer1. Powerline work from Layer2
sir how can we access internet through paid cable network plz hlp
Hey vince I love you man!
These things are cutting out on me and being unreliable. There doesn’t seem to be any manuals with the ones I got any ideas?
is necesary to use 2 utp cable?
No se inglés, pero lo que mostraste el vídeo me gustó tanto la explicación. Que entendí mejor que otra vídeo.
Ahorita me suscribo al canal.
whats the point of the double version ?
