REAL!!!! I tried modding around my wukong staff and even with armor stripping subsume, augment, viral priming, a raw Glaive prime did it in a fraction of a second.
the only buff exalted weapons need is to have their stupid modding restrictions lifted. allow me to put blood rush on my iron staff or galvanized chamber on my balefire charger. the weapons have good enough stats that they'd compete with the strongest weapons in the slot but not completely overshadow them. another thing I'd personally like to see is ranged aspects of exalted weapons (specifically exalted blade and serene storm) either maintaining combo or maybe even stacking it, it's really stupid to be expected not to use the weapons gimmick just to be able to have a decent heavy attack with it. as for your talk on investment, I'd argue that pseudo exalted weapons are way more expesnive (tho currently exalteds can also kinda benefit from a statstick through the gladiator mod set which for some reason works on your exalted weapon when equipped on your normal melee). after all people invest a lot into pseudo exalted weapons through the statsticks. you're dedicating a full weapon slot, a riven and an incarnon of all things, all of that requires a lot more investment than just a couple forma on your true exalted melee which you'll most likely have to do as well for your statstick as a lot of the mods for them are expensive (primed fever strike, a riven, bloodrush etc.).
Eh sure as an excal enthusiast i know that slash dash is his best ability and practically second to khora’s 1 and i hate that they still haven’t fully fixed the problem with radial javelin’s existence, but also that exalted blade is just awful in hindsight however there are bigger problems…well aside from the fact that CO on chromatic blade is (if i recall correctly) a net loss on dmg due to less status effects since IPS counts towards CO(unless multiple stacks of the same SE count)
I subsumed Kullervo`s 1st into my Excal Prime, only with the Bonus to Crit damage provided by Wrathful Advance does Excal`s Exalted blade manage to Red Crit, still rarely does a 1M+ number pop up. I really wish DE gave his Exalted Blade a buff, made Chromatic Blade innate to the ability as it is useless without and gave at least enough base crit for him to get 100% Crit chance with Sacrificial Steel. As for my Valkyre Prime and Wukong Prime, they do more consistent crits than Excal.
Imho the best exalted, pseudo-exalted, warframe's unique, I don't even know how to call it xD melee is gotta be Garuda's Talons, no stupid mod restrictions, you have to trade your melee for it, you don't have to use ability to use it, at the same time it counts as an ability, it'll proc archon mods, can damage enemies in the Rift, cannot destroy drones in arbitrations etc. has an exilus slot and you can put your stance of choice on it, when upgraded it deals pretty respectable damage comparable with other melees The only limiting factor is that like other exalted weapons it doesn't have an arcane slot, but despite that I still really enjoy using it. Red crit galore 😎
her talons are definitely not stronger than say valkyrs talons, similar range but valkyr talons have enough base damage on them to outright 1 shot most enemies at level cap wiithout armor stripping. Garudas talons just being a normal melee is a bit odd, they dont scale with strength nor can they take an arcane, theyre objectively weaker than many melee weapons due to that.
The fact that exalted melees struggle to hit red crits is wild to me Warframe 1999 probably has something huge planned for exalted melees

Khora's Whip can do much more than that.
But also, Baruuk, Kullervo, Garuda, etc can all Red Crit too.
Btw, no. CO does not work on the Whip.
Excal chromatic blade is pretty good tho
