Svartpilen 401 -1200 Mile Review - Would I Buy It Again

  • Go ahead and watch, but yes, after riding my first motorcycle, the Svartpilen 401, for 1200 miles I would absolutely buy it again. I'm glad I chose it for my first motorcycle, considering the type of riding I do. Warning: at the end I babble about the Aprilia Tuono 660. Meh.
    (As one person noted on my "Early Likes and Dislikes" regarding mirrors, I may try some alternatives if the view is better. I like this height as a new rider because I don't have to look down, but I'm curious to try some alternatives.)

    Just hit 1200 on my 401 last weekend,
    I bought it 2 months ago and have no plans on ever selling it.
    I love this little thing.

      Awesome!!! I was gone for a few weeks and hopped on again yesterday and was giggling as I rode around. Such a fun peppy bike. 🤪

    I have owned my 22 Vit for a few months now, and hands down, best thing i have done to the bike... i bought a FuelX Lite for like $120. Completely Smooths out the low speed shudders and jerkiness... as well as smoothing out the Entire powerbrand AND dtopping the Bike temp ALOT! Increasing future longevity. If you get a chance look into it. It may be something you might want to add . In my opinion... Every 401 Owner should Buy one

      @@ridingwithgravity401 side note, since it fixes the Stock AFR the FuelX Lite also lets you do Exhaust and Breathing mods without worrying about damaging the motor. You can safely run an Airbox Lid Mod as well as Decat without worrying about fueling. And you will actually feel the results. It will Never be a Bigger CC bike. But with better breathing and fueling..
      You will never worry about it being Too Small or Slow again. The bike is just Alot more enjoyable, and capable.

      Thanks! I was thinking about something like the Coober kit (decat, air box cover, ECU) but seems I could go more directions (different mods) with the FuelX Lite while still avoiding engine damage (and maybe save some money depending on what I go with).

      @@ridingwithgravity401 the Coober ECU is an actual Remap, and increases HP and Torque with the new map. The FuelX Lite is just fixing the Stock AFR. So with Coober you are paying for a Remap, with FuelX you are paying for an Actual benefit to the machine, if that makes sense. Mind you Nothing wrong with Coober. But the ECU Remap was designed around the Coober Mods. Whereas the FuelX just fixes the Stock issue of Fueling and put it in the range it should be. And all while being safe for the bike

    I’ve had Yamaha XSR, HD Fat Bob, 48 and a Ducati Scrambler but I’m now looking at the Svart 401 as my only bike to just hop around on smaller roads and explore. Price seem great and tbh I don’t want a very expensive bike anymore. Tried one at the dealer and it was a blast, even more fun then the Scrambler

    Just got my first service done, love the bike so far. I own a 2020 ducati hypermotard 950 SP, a 2020 KTM SMCR 690, and now the 401... I've put about every mod I could get on it... Piug windshield, husky frame sliders, Leo Vince exhaust, husky aftermarket mirrors, and more.... it is the smallest CC bike I've ever owned and I'M IN LOVE ..... also added a 5 year warranty so I can't mod the motor :(

    This is probably Husqvarna best kept secret. I have a ‘20 Svartpilen and love it. I have been riding motorcycles for 41 years and this one is probably one the top three most fun bikes I have ever had. I have ridden all kinds of bikes and this one is above most. Power is more than enough for highway riding. To avoid being beaten up by the wind avoid being behind anything that kicks turbulent air. I do complain about the heat in the summer (fan comes on very quickly after stopping on a red light). Other than that has been reliable and rides great. I also think it would have been nicer to have one more gallon of fuel, but as a city bike probably designed with Europe in mind, the 100 mile range is more than enough.
    Congratulations on choosing this smaller bike as a first bike. Too often people go for the faster bike on the market sometimes with disastrous consequences. Take a look at the Triumph Trident! It is competitor of the Aprilia.

      @ridingwithgravity401  ปีที่แล้ว

      Right on!
      I am curious about the Trident and the Street Triple RS; some nice bikes over there at Triumph. Lucky me, the Husky dealer near me is also Yamaha and Triumph. I also like the Yamaha MT-09 SP. We’ll see. I would either need to trade in my Svart, and I definitely don’t want to do that, or convince myself that it’s okay to have two motorcycles.

    A 400 cc bike should be good enough to do anything you need on the highway or off road but that’s me and I’m older now so I don’t desire to go 100 mph when all I need is 75 on interstate

    I NEARLY grabbed one. But went back to a 390 Adventure, why? Pretty much the same thing, but a bigger tank, 12v output, rear charging cable under the seat, more rack options:)

    Definitely buy a windshield if you plan on riding on the highway. I’ve been riding on the highway and my head feels like it’s gonna fall off my body when I look over my shoulder.

    If you wanted something that would be good for longer trips and highway. With more weight and power. You should check out a basic Indian FTR 1200, I have seen them a cheap as $7500, the same as what some are asking for a used Husqvarna Svart or Vit 701. The FTR Rally would probably be ideal but, they're in high demand and you probably aren't going to get as good of deals in one. You seem more interested in something smaller but, you'd probably end up spending similar money. You seem to be a man who knows his limits and is careful. Other than that maybe an MT-09 or CB650 would probably be a very reliable step up.

    • @ridingwithgravity401
      @ridingwithgravity401  ปีที่แล้ว

      FTR is a nice looking motorcycle. MT-09 or MT-10 are on my list to check out, as well as some others that are just too expensive but I want to test ride (I'm talking about you, Ducati).

    Nice review. Just curious - what camera are you using or is it a smart phone? When you pan the streetlights bend. Are you in a "panoramic" mode?
    Cheers, and happy new year!

      GoPro Hero 10. I shoot with it in "Activity" 4K 60FPS and then I have an ACM400 Omnidirectional microphone tucked up in my helmet. That connects to the GoPro Media Kit (need the Media Kit for the microphone connection).

    I have a Royal Enfield Scram 411 in the DFW area. What if any green lanes have you discovered? Looking for some cool mild off-road trails to check out.

      I don’t really notice it, so for me so far not a noticeable issue.
