- Our latest captioned movie shows how researchers at Columbia Engineering have developed 3D-printable synthetic soft muscles for robots that are three times stronger than human muscle.
The self-contained mechanisms mimic the movement of human muscles, without the need for bulky external compressors or pressure-regulating equipment.
The muscles are 3D-printed using a combination of silicone and ethanol, the latter of which forms small bubbles of alcohol within the gel. The bubbles vaporise when a low-voltage electric current is passed through the material, which causes the soft silicone to expand and move significantly.

I imagined something similar with the nitinol in litz wire form - expand with the cold, contract with the heat with some springs.
GAME CHANGER
Isn't it a bit dangerous to use ethanol and electricity in an artificial muscle?
What is this air mechanism called
Its not based on air. Its using electricity current to expand and retract.
wow
Would this help in erectile dysfunction?
How?!
@@ubermenschsuperiority4970 lol synthetic dick muscles
Actually possibly as an implant with an external port for battery imput.
Really want this in your life???????
it'll help the disabled and paralyzed, so yes, we do.
