You can tell watching the old Let's Make a Deal episodes that they wanted people to WIN. Zonks were uncommon, there were multiple cars offered every episode in completely achievable games, and they gave away two out of the three doors in the Big Deal. Now there are three or four zonks an episode, shitty deals all around, and only one trader gets to go to the Big Deal. They seriously need to give new-era Let's Make a Deal the budget for The Price is Right and let them go to town. Lower-end cars on games stacked in the player's favor, $40,000+ cars in regular games (not the Big Deal), two out of three cars in the Big Deal, one something like a Hyundia or Kia, the other a Lexus, and if the Super Deal is brought back, needs to be $100,000 (remember, they had a $20,000 Super Deal back when these aired, in the mid-70's, and inflation has brought the value of that money up five to six fold!)
I don't hate the new ones, they just don't have anywhere close to the charm. There are WAY too many zonks, and the prizes just seem generic without someone like Jay talking about them. Just like "a new TV" and coach tickets instead of first class etc, and not having multiple big deal contestants just isn't the same. It's like the other commenter said, the old ones wanted to give away the prizes, the new one seems cheap and finding any way to zonk you.
This is the best ending I have ever seen to any LMAD episode. All 3 doors had fantastic, practical prizes, and I have never seen 2 of the doors contain cars.
This was a great show back when it was on. They even had a night show and I ran into a guy that won the big deal at night for $20,000 in cash back in 1974
Come on now, a popcorn cart with lots of tasty popcorn isn't what I call a zonk.....If fact that's been on a bunch of times on The Price is Right. Any time I go to a bar or pub with something like that, I am pleased it's there because I like to eat it before my meal.
$10,500.00 for that Eldorado. THAT was expensive then. Imagine today...it would be closer to $100K or more... And the Monte Carlo back then was a classic.
Interesting how they bring down two people for the big deal instead of just one like on the new LMAD (and also that there were two cars!). I like this old show, but the energy and humor on the new one with Wayne Brady is really a lot of fun to watch. JW3HH
These episodes are so much better than the newer ones.
No, the new episodes are better! Truth!

They’re both just as good, it’s the Billy Bush episodes that sucked ass

I agree 100%
As a Generation Z person, I can’t believe how creative & entertaining TV was in the 1970’s
That aint all that was better in the 70s.
So much better than the new ones. Used to watch them every day.
This is Episode 61 of the Syndicated Run- OAD: February 24, 1973
At 21:09, that's the perfect prize for (slow) Marlene considering the kind of costume she's wearing!
This is the best ending I have ever seen to any LMAD episode. All 3 doors had fantastic, practical prizes, and I have never seen 2 of the doors contain cars.
The Cadillac is so beautiful wow!
Waffles and a Cadillac!
Only in America!

+Matthew Smith That's not a cart, it's the type you find in a movie theater...
Could've been had Monty not stopped Jay from eating all the props, lol
Exactly! Come on, they could’ve done better with that one. I would’ve took that, I love popcorn! Just add the butter and seasonings.
@@blind_t2 Yeah, I would have too. Love popcorn, would be living on it lol.
Bill Cullen gave away one of those on his version of THE PRICE IS RIGHT
Wow! So both traders each won a car in the big deal!
Jay was in the popcorn cart that’s what makes it a zonk
17:55 it’s actually 3000 dollars for her
Boy, I wish I could buy a new Monte Carlo for 5 grand.
Its a pretty car but i prefer the eldorado
23:50 The editing did not affect the outcome of the dealing
When I set it to 2:12 the curtains are still closed

Bill?
that was a hard contest, they should have made it easier on the lady, by at least putting the ragu underneath the R, that type of thing
NO WAY!!
11:23 At least Yvonne didn't get zonked. She kept $600 as a consolation prize.
600 bucks in '73 was a lotta money

Back when a Cadillac was a real Cadillac.
