Also it’s really helpful that you always list so thoroughly what scents you use. If I sniff things in stores a lot of time they don’t list ingredients, and since tea tree is so popular I wind up dizzy for sniffing due to I guess an allergy. But with yours I can just research the scent and verify it’s good! Super awesome!!

For my food sin story: as a kid my neighbor LOVED A1 sauce and she begged her parents to let her put it on some bread. Finally they gave in so she put a heaping mound of A1 on some toast. Of course she immediately regretted her decision but her parents made her eat it anyways since she made such a big deal about it. Gotta love the food combos kids come up with 😂

So! I looked up activated charcoal bc I’m a science ho, and theres unfortunately NO easy to find scientific research on its affects in beauty/hygiene products BUT I did find out that activated charcoal absorbs particles between .5 and 50 micrometers, which, coincidentally, is the size of many skin contaminants! Dander, certain kinds of smoke, dust, some bacteria, and pollen are all within that size range. I imagine theoretically that means activated charcoal can absorb all these pollutants and get them out of your skin.
However, I also read that charcoal will NOT dissolve in water, and only really gets out with dish soap. Maybe it gets out with normal cold process soap too? It needs much more testing, but carbon is crazy good at filtration because its super porous and has a ton of surface area to trap small particles in.
It’s also probably a bad idea to eat because its so good at absorbing particles that it absorbs many medications and nutrients in food too, so unless you’re dying of phenobarbital or carbamazepine poison its probably best to call poison control if you ingested something toxic (actually call them for those things too). Charcoal is relatively body safe otherwise, but might cause skin irritation and dryness (in my experience as an art student) so make sure to keep moisturized if you wash with it frequently. Also make sure to keep it out of cuts and raw skin because like I said its not soluble in water and can really dig in there and be difficult to get out.
