Lucy helps to save Emmet from Rex and destroy his time machine. Emmet comes to accept he will never be as skilled as Rex, and with this self-realization, Rex fades from existence, correcting a time paradox.

Y'know it's probably just me, but it's kinda sad that Emmet's kindness made President Business learn the error of his ways and turn him into a better person yet his own kindness didn't work on his mentally broken alt future self. The way I see the Emmet vs Rex fight is Emmet trying to convince himself that he is fine when deep down he really isn't (Rex literally breaking him apart as an example).

That’s deep! Emmet lied to himself, and now he learns to face the truth that even he can have a sour side, only his was ironically bitter! And once he faces it, the bitter side of him finally goes away!

@@yourlocalentertainmentchan9153 The fact that what gets him to finally break is when the poor guy was all alone again, stuck under an isolating space for years, having to watch his friends dance and have fun, seemingly living their lives fine without him in his perspective. Emmet may be constantly smiling on the outside, but inside, dude's got a lot pent-up in there, and he likely just gaslit himself into thinking that everything is okay.

Great movie, but the only thing i don’t get is how many people believe that if you change the past then you disappear or just wont exist, it doesn’t work that way, let me explain
If i went back in time and accidentally stopped my parents from meeting or falling in love, that does not mean that i’ll just disappear, that timeline will differ from the previous timeline in from which i come from, that way i could travel to the future and see a different timeline where i never existed but it isn’t my own so i don’t face annihilation because of it
So by all accounts, Rex should’ve been unaffected from Emmett getting saved by Lucy, as Emmett(our Emmett) now lives in a timeline affected by the previous(future but different timeline) version of himself and was saved by Lucy, however Rex should still exist because his timeline is different from our Emmetts timeline

Rex is emmet from another dimension, he explains that since he wasn't rescued by his friends that he decided to get a new identity. Since Emmet was saved by Lucy in his dimension he never became rex at all so Rex no longer exists.
