I love these. I’ve had the turquoise/green dial one for over a year now. I think Seiko takes extra care with these turtles. Mine runs incredibly well for a 4r movement-like -2 seconds a day. Awesome stuff!
I bought my father the brown dial a little over a year ago, every time I see him he is wearing it. I bought it close to when it came out so it was a little more expensive than it is now, it is still the best gift I have given anyone. I get so much more when I see him wearing it and I know my dad really likes it
Those are very cool. Can’t go wrong with a turtle! 🐢 And thank you to Seiko for finally allowing you to offer these at the competitive prices everyone else can offer them in. Thanks for showing them to us!
Cuz you are simpeltons,I am dealing used watches for 20 years and in EU you just can’t buy any turtle below 260€ let alone King Turtle which cost used 400€.They are extremly popular along with 63mas and manny times I resale them on the same day I bought them!!
Thank you Mark. Nice changes to the king turtle, love the kanji, the lack of the magnifier and the made in Japan dial, so true regarding the magic turtle fit and feel that is fantastic. I don’t prefer the turtle dials but they are nice looking for sure.
Thanks Marc, those SE Turtle dials are awesome! I'd go for the aqua I think, torquise a close second. Dropping the candy bar cyclops was a good choice - it was too polarising.
Nice to see a king Turtle with no candy bar. Though I don't actually hate the magnifier my dark manta turtle has one and I don't even notice it anymore unless I need the date.
@@islandwatch Very comfortable. I accidentally had mine in the washing machine for almost 3 hours and it did not break and only received a small scratch on the case which I buffed out. Good as new and still going strong 🖤
And I got my Padi Pepsi mini turtle for 250$ 10 months ago. Store bought. It has the raindrop cyclops over the date.(I don’t mind it at all. Same 4r movement. How lucky. Love the watch. Sadly discontinued. Making it even more collectable.
@islandwatch I just think seiko are hiking prices ridiculously and offering less to the consumer. They're selling watches in the 600-800 range that were 2-300 just a few years ago. Have you seen the new seiko 55 fathoms? It has the seiko5 sports case. It's just lazy. And they're asking 600 odd for that too.
In Germany Seiko's website gives the information, at least for the Seiko 5 range, beginning from April of this year they are shipping Kanji dials as standard only. Don't know if they are trying to emphasise their japanese roots or to capitalise on it, but it's a nice touch for sure and surely inexpensive to print every date wheel the same instead of printing all different languages on it 😅
I wish they made this in a red. I have a manta samurai and have been contemplating buying a turtle recently. Right now black with the waffle and yellow second hand is the best
@@adi-1933 I think you can if you really wanted to but from what I've seen on YT, they way to remove it is to apply heat to the crystal and lots and lots of it and I ain't doing that to my KT, I'm too much of a wimp 😄😄😄😄
These are amazing 🤩 watches . I own the SRPE39J1 Manta Ray King Turtle 🐢 and it’s incredible Seiko. With that said I would never pay full retail for these when you can buy off of Amazon for $200 less or even eBay and Macys as well.
It’s a great watch I’ve had mine for about eight months. I paid 650 but I would recommend to buy the buy one get one of your bracelets that you make it better than depending collar system that comes on the watch comes on the watch is great but the one that you sell for I think it’s like 60 bucks a heck of a lot better
Love the classic Seiko divers.....getting pricey though, I am stuck in the 90s. $475 is my cut off point for Seiko. Ceramic, solid end, sapphire, perfect alignment, high grade clasp, creative dial design, all non negotiable for this $750 tier.
I want a Captain Willard case Spring Drive watch, with a see-through case back, a power reserve indicator on the front (like Snow Flake) and a beautiful, indigo-blue dial. I want it so bad!
I don't mind the cyclops, I'd rather have it on. Differentiates between the king & standard Turtle, but more importantly helps those of us with less than 20/20 vision to read the date.
I like the cyclops, Marc. I wish you would add it to some of the Islanders. It's a blessing for those with less than perfect vision, especially on watches with small date windows. The number on a date window is usually so small that if it were on any other part of the dial, people would be criticizing the watch for lack of legibility.
Even twenty years ago I never liked the reverse meatball or ugly hands. I mean I'd wear one but wish they'd do stick or mm300 hands and lose the meatball.
love the new king turtles. is a US edition simply not sold outside of the US..? still, this pricing (theirs) is high for a 'normal' seiko. we're sneaking int GS pricing territory almost..
All seiko divers are too big. They need to make some 38mm or 40mm divers. Their case designs are very desirable to me. But I refuse to look like a clown. Sold my turtle. Bought a 38mm San Martin and I'm so much more happier with it, its just so much more appropriate and still in my pathetic price range, unlike other more appropriately sized watches. But if Seiko had some more traditional sizing's I would have never left them. Its nice to see them finally getting some sapphire in there, to be fair , if San Martin can do it, then you really have to wonder what is going on at Seiko.
Seiko haters can say what they want about the recent price increases however, they do not appear to be struggling to sell out all of these new models. This watch blows anything Seiko made out of the water sub $500 10 years ago on specs.. prove me wrong.
Ceramic bezel, but not fully lumed. Sapphire crystal, but not double domed. I guess if Seiko keeps making them wrong, the aftermarket still has customers to correct them.
$750 for a Seiko, their marketing department has lost their minds. Someone needs to tell management that Prospex is NOT Grand Seiko or Tudor, let alone all the great micro brands that give you twice as much watch for 2/3 the price.
Eh, you'll pay half that on the grey market in time. I got my King Turtle for $350 or so. That beats a lot of micro brands unless you want a copycat aliexpress steeldive.

Dropping the candy bar cyclops finally!!!! Now for more dial variations!

I always held off on a turtle because the design is so retro and screams 1970's. But the dial brings it into 2024. Super interested now.

You can buy it in France. Lower price i saw is 697€.
@islandwatch do you ship in France ?

For a suggested retail price of $750, Seiko should put a 6R movement in there
The 6r are not as accurate as 4r, and 6r cannot be regulated to cosc specs. That’s from my experience
IDK I like the candy-bar cyclops, never understood why people get so worked up about them.

The mini turtle only has a 43mm lug to lug. It wears far smaller than it's 41mm because of how small the dial is and the lug to lug
