Always remember as an Irishman, never trust the powers to tell the truth.
Remember the Ballymurphy massacre in Northern Ireland where they murdered 11 innocents Catholics & then the same day stated to the world's media that they were fired upon & all 11 were culpable. There was an 14 yr old boy elderly lady shot. Only this Yr did the British gov apologise for this war crime. 50 yrs it took.

Great film. I watched this after hearing the Daoiri Farrell version of the song "Valley of Knockanure" and wondering what it was about. We should never forget what the British did in Ireland because they don't change & Ireland is still occupied territory. Those boys were murdered, pure & simple; have the British Army ever apologised?

The British and their stinking royalty will never apologize for anything because they're still tyrants to the bone, always have been. They can't leave anyone the hell alone, but are always meddling in someone else's business, trying to own the world so their filthy rich royalty can have yet more money and jewels. If the day ever comes that they're ousted from every other Nation who doesn't want their dirty paws in their pockets, the world might have a chance at peace. They could have had America, but they were too greedy, pushy and always have to bully their "subjects" until they're willing to do anything to be free of the slimy king and upper class snoots. They never learn, because the privilege of royalty never has to taste blood.
My advice to Britain: get rid of your royalty as a start, then work on your class system, and as America goes under, you might be the next rising star of freedom for the next 150-200 years. Become such a great nation that Ireland wants to join you of their own free will, and when that happens you'll be what you could never be with the stench of royalty always on you.

Was a great experience to be involved in this project..made all the more real and sombre because we were recreating actual events, no hamming it up or made up bits. A great cast and crew. Both sets of characters were kept apart and didnt see each other till the actual capture scene, which then ran without a cut for a good while. And a very ingenious "crossley tender"!

Very well done of a sad story very well acted but their young lives weren't wasted the British army driven out of the 26 counties which the war of independence brought about Kerry played a staunch part in it which they should be proud of I wished the ending had that great stirring song the valley of knocknumore which is about the brave men Walsh Lyons and Dalton Kerry is truly the kingdom a really beautiful county and great people and there

In all, about 210,000 Irishmen served in the British forces during World War One. Since there was no conscription, about 140,000 of these joined during the war as VOLUNTEERS. Some 35,000 Irish died fighting side-by-side with the "Tans" in the trenches. Never forget Ireland; never forget. - A Donegal Lad abroad.

All 210,000 joined as volunteers, both of my grandfathers and a number of grand-uncles included. They didn't fight side-by-side with Tans; the Tans and Auxies were composed of post-war unemployed damaged PTSD sufferers. The young Irish men who joined-up believed they were fighting for the rights of small nations, and it was assumed that Irish independence would follow the war as Redmond had promised. Others just joined for the adventure and to get away from the farm. Who are you to judge them?

In 1833, one third of British army were Irish. Empires always conscript from their vassal states. Ireland was no different. On this 100 Yr anniversary may we honour & remember the sacrifice for those few who fought for our freedom
