Katelyn, ignore the naysayers about books. What would they rather you do if you buy a book from Goodwill? If it doesn't sell at Goodwill they trash it. So, IMO, you're rescuing a book that would otherwise be thrown in the trash. Is that what the naysayers want? Some people are so sanctimonious! Geesh people! Get a life! Katelyn is doing that book a favor and you should appreciate her. She's a wonderful crafter!

I work in a library...reading and books are literally my life...and I absolutely LOVE what you did with the book...I decorate with books all the time.. I would rather see it getting a second life than recycled or trashed..keep doing you and what makes you happy babe... you're amazing at what you do!

Thanks so much! I have a vrbo/ Airbnb. Your decor ideas are so welcome for me in trying to decorate on a budget and make beautiful things. Not sure why people gripe about the silliest things. I thought it was a very cool idea. I rarely comment on you tube videos, like once or twice a year, because of all the dumb responses people will make. However I felt the need here because of your cool videos and great inspiration.
Freezer paper works really well for the welcome mats with some heat, it works better than vinyl.
That welcome mat looks like a pro one from a store, Well Done!❤

I don't know why people get upset about upcycling books. They are one of the main things in landfills. People do not recycle them and they are not upcycled to see somebody doing so to me it's kind of sort of saving a book. It's definitely saving books from the landfill and it is so cute!

If I remember correctly, there is a world public library that keeps copies of millions of books in 300 languages so books used for crafting are not necessarily lost forever.
Books are recycled every year all around the country, just ask your local library and there are also companies that will buy older books.
