    As a former six shooter speed shooter, I just wanted to mention something about Cad Bane. He always, and I mean always, draws after his opponent does. This doesn't mean he's slow. I recognize what he's doing. He's baiting his opponent. In every duel Cad Bane is in, he always lets his opponent draw first because he knows he's just that much faster. Take Fett for example. In the time it took Boba to raise and fire his carbine, Bane was able to draw and fire before his gun was even fully raised. And he moved only after Bane did. On top of that, Bane's first shot hit him in the shoulder safely throwing Fett's shot off. His second shot tore his gun from his hands, disarming him, and his third shot knocked him off his feet without seriously injuring him. Do you have any idea how insane that is? He drew after his opponent and aimed accurately not just to kill but to knock his opponents weapon off alignment. And he followed up by removing the weapon with his next shot. And he did this while Fett was still raising his weapon. Cad Bane did this while 73 years old. Just a reminder.
    Edit #1: I fixed some grammar mistakes.
    Edit #2: There is some debate regarding Cad Bane's species age and how long they live. His species are Duros and according to the current canon, they live similarly to humans. In Duro society, anything over 70 is considered a senior citizen. To this species, 73 is old and while not uncommon, is about the age most Duros die. In other words, Cad Bane did some of his best work at the physical end of his life. This is updated and current information. Duros used to live up to 200 years but this was amended by Leeland Che a few years back in official source material.

At the very least we can assume Lando knew nothing of Vaders Force abilities and seated at the far end Han against a regular opponent might well get the shot off easily, he was surely surprised to see Vader block shots and then jerk away Hans blaster. One Legends character I'd like to see brought into canon is Gallandro. He was a fast-drawing assassin who appeared in the Han Solo trilogy of novels by Brian Daly. He dressed to the nines and sported a unique handlebar mustache with gold beads threaded onto the ends. In one of the books Han Solo faced him down, but Gallandro was just a bit faster, not only outdrawing Han, but placing his perfectly aimed shot on Han's gun arm, wounding him, not killing him. Gallandro even complimented Solo, saying "You came closer to beating me than anyone has in a long time." Gallandro would be a good fit in any of the current Star Wars TV shows.

    On the point about Han being Force sensitive - I’ve thought this all the way back to 1977 when the first movie came out (saw it opening day in jr high). He’s very “lucky”, forms a natural relationship to Luke and Leia, and shows up at just key points doing flukes of action that turn the tide, like intervening in the trench run against Vader, the shot on Boba Fett, saving Lando in the pit, and some nigh miracle shots and moves. No question in my mind he’s at least low level Force sensitive.

    Fun fact. Quickdrawing is extremely inaccurate. There is one situation in American history when two men were eating dinner. Next thing everyone knew lead was flying as one man quickdraws his revolver, but misses every shot, even at point blank range. Meanwhile the smoother, but slightly longer draw of the other man allowed him to aim and fire. Hitting his target with one shot.
    When asked why he brought someone who wanted to kill him to dinner, the man replied "I don't send men to hell on an empty stomach.

    • @williamthehuntsman
      @williamthehuntsman ปีที่แล้ว +25

      @@TheIceGryphon tournaments and gun fighting are two different things entirely. There is a ton of examples in American history. Specifically the Old West portion of it. Inaccuracy is an inherent part of shooting from the hip. Modern quickdraw artists practice for years on end and can negate this partially, so I will give you that.
      But then you have to consider something else. For tournament shooters, the target isn't shooting back.

    • @williamthehuntsman
      @williamthehuntsman ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@GiantTinyBalls If it's so easy, then you try shooting at a target that can shoot back, like what they were showing in this video.
      The whole point of real quick drawing is to get lead downrange to scare your opponent into missing. If you are lucky, you can hit your opponent, but hip fire is inherently inaccurate. Only a select few can actually shoot accurately without aiming and they have honed their skill for years.

    • @ahorsewithnoname773
      @ahorsewithnoname773 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Bat Masterson, one of the more famous historical figures from the old west, once stated that speed in a gunfight was one of the least important factors in winning. Masterson claimed the most important factor was what he referred to as "deliberation," or the ability to stay cool and make good decisions while under stress....like for example when someone is shooting at you.
      Wyatt Earp was also not the fastest draw but he possessed that "deliberation" described by Masterson. One person who knew Earp wrote of him that, "He was at the time the most fearless man I ever saw, and Satan and all his imps could not scare Wyatt Earp." Masterson said of Earp that he was one of the few people he knew that was absolutely destitute of physical fear.
      The fast draw thing is more of an old trope from dime novels that celebrated the gunslingers, and that trope later made it to film. That isn't a criticism of it of course, tropes exist for a reason and few things are more fun in film that an old fashioned quick draw duel.
      The most feared gunslingers in history however weren't necessarily the quickest on the draw, and being quick wasn't regarded as the most essential trait to possess by people who actually were gunslingers.

    Cad Bane was modeled from Lee Van Cleef from “Good, the Bad, and the Ugly”. Clint had to kill him because he was the fastest threat, which is why Clint needed Tuco to be the extra threat to Sentenza that would slow him down enough for Blonde to kill him knowing Tuco was without ammo. The threat was enough to slow Sentenza to kill him. Outstanding tactics and subterfuge. Blondie comes out as the victor and Tuco gets a little something for himself. Tuco was a dirty filthy bandit, but blondie was a tactician. Sentenza (Angel Eyes) was a real threat and a stone cold killer. Blondie set this up perfectly.

      Superior pilot skills, super handy with a blaster, always with a bad feeling something is about to happen, above average gambling skills. On the accuracy bit, atleast for Munden, it wasn't too much an issue, because he practiced from the hip after developing a knack for the firing style early on in life if Im not mistaken. Watched the dude many times over the years even after his death, that quick draw double snap shot for "SuperHuman" was and still is one for the ages 🤘

  • @MaynardCrow

    2:40 The event you describe did not take place. My memory bank may have data deleted from it, but according to my memory core: official records show that Han shot first(also last, cause crispy Greedo no shoot back).
    Also, yes, Han does have greater force sensitivity than the average citizen of the galaxy, though not enough to be a Jedi. The Star Wars CCG card for him placed him at "Force Attuned." This makes sense. It explains why he always gets a bad feeling before bad stuff happens. He likely is a faster shot than most. The faster shot is statistically much more likely to shoot first.....and also last.....cause the slow guy doesn't clear leather and stinks up some poor droidophobe's cantina.....like what happened.

    One major difference about blasters compared to real guns is that as one Mythbusters episode pointed out...blaster bolts are ridiculously slow. Like, there are NERF guns that shoot faster than the Blasters in Star Wars. And while it looks cool from our perspective to be able to see each blaster bolt move across the screen and hit targets, scientifically it makes zero sense considering they're supposed to be lasers...which move at the speed of light.

    • @tnntaronewsnetwork4514
      @tnntaronewsnetwork4514 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s probably because Blaster Bolts are not true lasers, they’re actually plasma which is far slower.

    I'm sure if we'd ever gotten to see Boba at his prime, he might've been the fastest. He literally WAS the greatest Bounty Hunter of the galaxy prior to Episode 6 and his fall into the Sarlacc pit.
    Han, had Harrison Ford been REALLY trained in quick-draw, probably would've been one of the fastest, but what we got in Episode 5 was him being DRAMATIC for us of the Audience. He full-arm drawed on Vader. Had he fired from the Hip, as he should have before fully extending his arm, we might've gotten one of the faster draws. Course... Vader would have Force Blocked or used his robot hand to catch the bolts as we saw. Obviously, shooting at a Sith Lord in full armor, with or without his Saber up, is still faulty to a degree, as I don't think even Palpatine or anybody else beyond Yoda could have blocked the shots using the Force. But obviously, that's for the topic of Force Blocking/Absorbing...
    I have to agree that Cad is probably the best of the best, and only slower than Tora Calican because again, the kid was shooting at point-blank range.
