Ren definitely doesn’t pull punches when it comes to speaking truths. He is a word wizard of both complex metaphors and double meanings as well as such simple lines that cut straight through everything and hits you hard. There is just something about the way he writes and delivers it that makes it impossible to ignore or brush off. And for someone with such empathy and passion for making the world better to have such power is truly something we need.
I always lose it in the Ariah section. A 50 year old Autistic male, reduced to tears ... literally every damned time. Ren is giving us music that matters... music that can literally save lives. It's one thing to have talent, but it's another thing entirely to have such brutal, and beautiful, emotional honesty. He's not just a musical genius, he's a rare gem of a man.
I remember being bullied all of 5th & 6th grade for not wearing clothes that fit a high class standard,was horrible!!! At age 16 I was anorexic,it was another form of trying to somehow fit in!!!! Ive struggled with loving & respecting myself for over 40years now!!! Thank you Ren for being REAL!!!
I love this one The main thing I hate about society is that people always say "You need communication all the time, you are wrong if you don't think so, you should live in society" and then somewhere there is always "You are not right. You are different. You are not good (or not good enough). You are not a part of it. You should be better and be another to be here". High school is hell. Pure and simple. I have no idea how old you are, but I'm probably old enough to be your mom (43). In the 80s, the movies geared toward teens depicted a level of bullying that was bizarre for the time. Teenagers can be horrid and harsh, but most bullying at that time was gossip and isolation. I currently have 3 teens. The bullying they and their friends face is of the caliber the movies I grew up with depicted for the sake of being over the top and ridiculous. It breaks my heart.
On my Ren journey with you at the same time DJ. His voice is definitely what makes the songs hit, and lyrically this is hard hitting. Very emotional, and such a commentary on the social media culture that has grown over the last 20 years or so. That rape section hits soooooo freaking hard, something that I resonate way too much with, too much like my teenage experience. I am with you DJ, although I was about 18 when I started to embrace my true self, and am only really getting back to that again now in my mid 30s. It’s that he is as emotionally and empathetically intelligent as he is intellectually intelligent and he’s an active observer of LIFE and his surroundings. I never had issues with myself until the age of 13. I’m beyond grateful that I grew up ( a LONG time ago) before social media. Nonetheless it was the decade that ushered in the birth of the “supermodel “ .

Retail therapy (as you suggested) is not a good way to make yourself feel better. Much better for someone to go and help someone worse off than themselves to put life into perspective and give a sense of self worth. Help out at a local charity centre, volunteer to walk dogs at the local shelter, pick up rubbish in the park, offer to weed an elderly neighbour's garden...... These are non self absorbed activities which are more likely to help give a person a sense of self worth, than adding to a throw away society and buying unwarranted items. Ren has a way of keeping his listeners "safe". If the lyrics are dark, the music counteracts in places. If the music is dark, the lyrics can be cheeky. Looking forward to seeing you do more Ren reactions. He has so many fabulous songs, all very different to the last. You need to look at some of the Big Push videos also, as well as Ren and Chinchilla.
