    The new Mint cards fixed the issue for not seeing the marking system by making the design bigger

    I ordered both the black and rasberry edition. The black ones are suppose to be casino grade B stock and thicker than the rasberry deck. As your review said that it is indeed not casino quality. I sent email to 52Kards and they said it was. It is not. Their site says it is. Very disappointed with them because I would not have bought the black deck if it was not thick casino quality. I bought six decks. thanks for your great reviews.

      yea Im going to have to change how I do reviews, because USPCC allows such thin cards to be casino stock now

    I have had these cards for a long time. They are one of my first custom deck purchases.
    I fully know the marking system, but I never knew they were one way. I just now found out from your vid. (Well, I was going to ask how I could find out how to tell the one-way, but I think I just found it!)
    Thanks for the video! Always informative. Awesome reviews!

    I have these and the red Mints. I love the feel, handling and design.
    My vision is also a bit on the disabled side, and I can barely see the marking system, but could never actually pull it off in a trick as it just takes me too long to find and read.
    Otherwise, the deck is a lot of fun to use and glad I have them.

    Can you please measure the Bicycle Gold Standard Deck (Richard Turner) with your awesome caliper? It would really help. Thank you.

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      MY deck is 2.91, but here is the thing, THIS deck is an unlimited run. Which means it gets made over and over, so each individual "run" will print at a different thickness - so mine won't necessarily be the same as yours

    • @arjunagarwal866
      @arjunagarwal866 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay, thank you

      So even though the gold standard decks are made of bee stock, they are thinner than standard bikes that are made of retail stock?

  • @jonathonmckinney4393
    @jonathonmckinney4393 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Also, I'm a sort of new magician and I really like the Daniel Madison cards. I have the blood kings and the inverted kings but are there any other decks you would recommend? I've been looking into the killer bees

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Decks are just fancy paper - no one deck is truly better than the other - buy decks that you like. Decks wont make you "better" only books and study will do that. I just buy cheapo bikes. They feel just as good as any designer deck and cost 3x less

    I have had these cards for a while, just thought I'd drop in on the review. I initially had trouble reading the marking system too, because I have glasses, but I learned to read it like a quick check at a speedometer. Asad goes over it in his course on 52Kards.com called Edge52, and I can now read the Marks very easily just at a glance or 2 (with glasses). You just need to teach your eyes on what to look for.

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      i'd rather use cards that are easier to read (or that I like better) and use my free time to learn more magic tricks ! :D

    • @sleightlyhandy889
      @sleightlyhandy889 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      magicorthodoxy Ha true,
      Still, I prefer these cards to any other,
      and the Marking system was definitely one of my favorites, so I'm happy
      (plus Edge52 gives a lot of tips in Magic).

      this one didn't even make my top 10 th-cam.com/video/6jqR0A-ebak/w-d-xo.html

    • @sleightlyhandy889
      @sleightlyhandy889 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It still made your honorable mentions ;)
      We all have our opinions.
      I have personally found it to be my favorite deck, and I know for a fact that many other people think so. But at the same time, there are probably some people out there who can't stand it for one reason or another (faces are custom, thickness, semi-simplicity (?), etc.)
      As far as the marking system goes, its still up there imo, because of its simplicity. Its not easy as say, the Kings, but if the time is spent practicing it, it is very versatile. Easiest to see? No. Easiest marked deck to read? Its up there.
      Btw, what are your thoughts on a "Juiced" deck?

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      its ok, probably for people who enjoy arts n crafts and chemistry (I dont) I just cant imagine myself unfocusing and focusing my eyes that much. I need cards I can read from a distance or far away quickly.

    Have you had the opportunity to measure the thickness of the Raspberry Mint deck? I checked the master list and didn't see it.

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't own it, sorry

    • @sleightlyhandy889
      @sleightlyhandy889 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Raspberry Mints are printed on Crushed Bicycle Stock, so they are pretty thin.
      I guess they would be similar to a thinner Keepers (don't quote me on that).

    How is this a review? You listed information we can find online, and described how they looked. You didn't describe how the deck feels (apart from saying it's thin) and most importantly you didn't even rate it.

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      starting at 2.34 I tell you how they 'feel' all the way til 3.05 (about 20 seconds) I measure them for you (which no other reviewers do) and gave you 3 other deck examples that they feel exactly like (which no other reviewers do either) rating a deck is useless information because that is my "opinion" and a review should be facts that you can use.

  • @chandlershaw4882
    @chandlershaw4882 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In your review you said that the Black Mints are printed on a retail stock. They claim to be printed on a Casino Grade Bee stock. I'm kind of new to most of this - is a retail stock the same thing as a Casino Bee Stock?

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This was covered in the video where I talk about how "thick" the cards were. I measured them with a caliper. I mean, you can "call it" thick stock if you want, it's just a name. The paper USPCC uses is all the same. In my opinion a Casino deck should be thicker than this. My deck of Bee cards measures 3.08 A casino deck should be at least 3.0. But this deck is the exact thickness of my Aladdins and only sleightly thicker than my rider backs.

      +magicorthodoxy Wow. Thank you so much for the fast and extremely detailed response. Jeez, I didn't realize that there could be such a variance within a label. Oh, by the way I really wanted to thank you for the video on the three rules of magic. As a beginner that was inspiring and extremely helpful.

    Not sure how i feel about these. I love the deck itself but i really hate channels like 52 kards. Hes a talented magician but hes spoiling the art of magic by making the answers accessible to anyone for free. Magic is a secret and if people want to learn then they can pay and dedicate themselves to learning it like it has always been done before.
