    I just ordered a RT97S. It has a connector for Raspberry Pi to enable on the internet networks. The RT97S is also programed through this new port.

    I was just wondering you said you was going to do a performance test with it to show us how it performs out in the field you never did I looked through all your videos and I could not find one I just wondered when are you going to do that

    Is there a time out timer in the software programming?

    Wondering roughly how long on stand by and light to moderate transmitting, will a 12v RV deep cycle last on a single charge?

    Quickest way to use it legally is to get a suppliers license and put it on a parking or hire frequency for testing.

    4:58 so I can use a software, but it won't let me modify the frequencies?

    So if the repeater is programmable can I have 444.375 Transmit w
    And 449. 375 the recieve what about CW ID every 10 minutes

    The 16 channel "feature" is totally useless as the notch filter will only work properly on the exact frequencies it is tuned for! I pointed that out to Ron at Bridgecom about their line of 2m and 70cm repeaters...

    • @MountainParameters
      @MountainParameters 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the comment, as I while I was watching the programming I was scratching my head trying to figure out why that feature was there. I made the assumption that perhaps you have some shoulder tolerance from the center tuned frequency in the same fashion that you have with a tuned antenna? For example, as you move away from the center tune point you just get an increase in your standing wave? Then I came across from one of the sellers on ALi that seems to substantiate this, "Q8: Is it possible to change the frequensies by myself with software and PC ?
      A8: Yeah,you can change the frequency and ctcss/dcs code. But frequency should within plus or minus 1MHz relative to the center frequency." So this would indicate you have a 2MHz window on each side of your center tune point. Would be nice is any of these TH-cam reviews would do some SWR test on this window. So I guess this ability to program could come in handy if you are getting intermod, etc., and wanted to tweak it out.

      Smart thing to do would be to program all 16 channels identically so you do not change it by accident.

    • @kg4gav
      @kg4gav 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patonbike I agree, 16 channels on the same freq pair, but maybe different CTCSS or DCS tones, so you could quickly change tones if needed. I have a 2 ch repeater set this way, one is DCS tone, the other is CTCSS in case someone has a radio that does not do DCS. Of course, I have never really needed to use that feature.

    • @J0HN3
      @J0HN3 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kg4gav great point on using CTCSS to create sub channels. Could result in folks doubling on each other I suppose though? Unless busy channel lockout is used? Good experiment I suppose.

    How wide is the duplexer? If you were to have multiple GMRS channels programmed into the unit, would the duplexer be tuned for all of them you would the duplexer only work on one of the channels. For example, if the duplexer was tuned to the center of the GMRS repeaters around 462.625/467.625, would it work all the way from 462.55 to 462.725? Is there any way to make the duplexer bandwidth wider to work on all the channels so it wouldn't require retuning? How hard would it be to adjust the duplexer cavity filters in the field without access to special equipment such a spectrum analyzer or service monitor?

    • @RobertLeeAtYT
      @RobertLeeAtYT ปีที่แล้ว

      Pick up a VNA and measure the duplexer passbands yourself. That’ll cost you $100 these days. That VNA is also the test equipment you need to properly retune the duplexer yourself.

      These have a notch filter / duplexes installed so the tx does not desense the rx

    • @SuAmigoElilegal
      @SuAmigoElilegal 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TechMindsOfficialif the duplexer comes programmed with the default frequency to tx and rx, then wha happends when u change the channel ? The rest of the channels are not programmed on the duplexer only the default frequencies or channel one.

    • @n4gix
      @n4gix 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SuAmigoElilegal - Notch filters (duplexers) can only be tuned for a single pair of frequencies. You would need a spectrum analyzer to accurately re-tune the duplexer every time you change the frequencies.
