Frank before I used to go into the ring I was bad with doubt and nerves once I got hit it woke me up and I thought right it’s on before the bell went it was that deep breathe in then out 🏴👍🏻
Cant agree more Frank, fortunately , at least in amatuer boxing the huge majority of young boxers are respectful humble, friendly, very hard working and great role models for their fellow youths and an absolute pleasure to share a gym with
Well explained, Frank. And your advice applies not only to boxing, but to many other situations in life that involve one form or another of "conflict".
Boxing fan here, and in for boxing fitness at 61 yrs. I've never stepped into a ring but I admire those that do. I would think the training would take over when the job is at hand. I just watched Canelo's last fight, I believe was Aug or Sept 24. I had to slow down replay to see how he was slipping the jab in and left hook. Chess match of calculation is my take. Train train to the young guy's that are stepping into the ring! Thanks Frank!
Doubt is not a bad thing it means you’re cautious youre more aware than blind believe The most evil things in this world are done by people with high self believe or believe Youre way more alert when doubting
I find myself constantly doubting myself as a boxer as I became more aware of CTE and the cost of being a fighter on the brain, I suppose its more so fear, ignorance is bliss and I really wish I didnt know about it because its a hard thing to shake. I try tell myself im only having a short amatuer career and I will be fine but if you try find things supporting what I just said online its just more warnings of braindamage short amatuer career or not.
@Nova-mz9if I fully understand which is why I constantly remind boxers they have to remember it's not all about aggression but about skill and technique, therefore minimising the number of punches you take. If you feel, even in sparing that you're being hit too often, just train.
Thank you for this nugget, god bless you coach🫡
I just found your channel with the lead hand hook video. Fantastic stuff.

Frank, I still want to be boxing when I reach your age, and I mean that as a compliment. You're an inspiration.

Very well stated!!
Thank you Coach!
Overcoming the nerves of combat sports will give you an advantage in life
Great advice, spot-on similar to that of my mentor and trainer back in the 70's and early 80's; thank you.
