I’m at the end of my rope, I think, and need some advice. I have cervical herniated discs that cause pain in my upper back and shoulders if I have a mattress too dense or too firm. I was using the Sealy plush mattress for a year and loved it because it gave me no upper body pain, but it started to sag severely after just a year, which then caused lower back and hip pain because it was throwing my spine out of alignment. I went back to Mattress Firm and got the Beauty Rest Black in medium and I’ve never experienced so much pain in my life, both upper and lower body. I typically sleep on my back but sometimes on my side. They told me to try the same mattress with a pillow top, and I did for a week, and it was still too painful. So I exchanged it for a Tempur-Pedic LuxeAdapt soft. It’s better, but my entire body just throbs from heat and pain. I hate it. I just ordered the Saatva RX, but based on reviews, I’m starting to worry that it may also be too firm for me. I’ll try it when it comes, but if it doesn’t work, could you recommend a super soft mattress that will also keep my spine in alignment? I’m about 150 pounds and 5’5. Thank you for any help you could offer because I’m about to loose my mind. It’s been about six months of painful sleep.
Sorry to hear about your tough time finding the right mattress. I think there is a good chance the Saatva RX will be a good fit for you. But if not, I'd be happy to help you find something different. If that ends up not working you just send me an email using this form - naplab.com/mattress-quiz/ - with the answer from this form I can provide you with a personalized recommendation based on your specific needs.
