Milan, Italy | Huawei P20 Pro & DJI Osmo Mobile 2 | Cinematic 4K

  • I recently bought a new phone Huawei P20 Pro and for the past 2 days I tested the 4K video capabilities where I filmed around Milan with the phone paired with DJI Osmo Mobile 2. The footages came out great and I was amazed with it since its just a smartphone with very small sensor compared to my full frame Canon DSLR.
    I would love to use the phone now as my second camera. The only problem is the flickering since the exposure is always on auto. I then installed an app called "Open Camera" to lock the exposure during filming and it works well. Im just hoping that Huawei will come out with 4K with 60fps and that would be great. Anyway I think smartphones are really getting better and soon in the next few years they might produce 4K footages as good as cinema cameras like Canon C300 or Red Scarlet.

    Awesome video! Just got a Osmo Mobile 2 for my Huawei Mate 20 pro, and can't wait to learn more about how to use it. Couple of questions though: Are you using the native huawei camera app or the DJI Go app? I experience that the stabilization is way better using the native app, but the problem is then that the trigger button does not work. Any thoughts? Also, did you use special settings to achive the popping colors, or did you do all that purely in post-production?

    • @ZaharizKhuzaimah
      @ZaharizKhuzaimah  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      thanks man! i actually just use the native camera app at first but i realized i cant do anything with the auto exposure so i use the free app open camera to lock the exposure while filming and it works well. for the stabilization i dont find any problem with both the native app and dji go app. for editing i use premiere pro to grade it. now im finding a way if i can film in flat profile using the phone

      @@ZaharizKhuzaimah cool, thanks for your reply! I have now bought the filmic pro app, and it seems to be a great fit with the osmo. It has support for the hardware buttons, and they can also be used to adjust exposure and focus (which are both locked by default). Seems like a really powerful app, so I recommend you check that one out since you are already producing such great content. About the stabilization, it seems like all third party apps perform slightly worse than the native Huawei app, and I think this is probably because the native app combines the optical stabilization with AI stabilization. Only makes a significant difference when I stress tested it by running, though. All in all I think the combination of the Huawei phone, osmo mobile 2 and filmic pro seems like a good place for me to start experimenting with this. Thanks again for great inspiration!

    Hey! Amazing video, really cool footage! I recently purchased an OSMO Mobile 2. I have a Huawei P20 Pro. I recently done some tests with the OSMO app and the video kept jumping. Hello. I downloaded the app because I want to lock the exposure that's all. I'm now looking for a way to film with 24 fps for more cinematic feel. Currently by default it's 30fps. Regarding the jumpy footage, I'm guessing maybe the memory card is not fast enough to film in 4k? Is it jumpy right from the phone or from your computer while editing it? Filming at 4k resolution usually requires fast card

      Thanks for your answer. The problem is happening with dji go app only (latest version). There is no problem with the computer whatsoever. When video capture is done with dji go it is bad. When video capture is done with huawei app it works well. Dji support says that the huawei p20 pro doesn't belong to osmo mobile 2 compatibility list.. I am surprised you don't experience problem.

      @@IvanLoko2012 if you ask me... i would go for osmo pocket. one main reason.. battery life. p20 pro is a smartphone. if you keep filming with it the battery will drain real fast. you still need it for calls, whatsapp messages etc. just my opinion...

      this video is 30fps. I would love to shoot on 24 fps since it looks more cinematic but I still havent figure out the way to do it on my Huawei. And no I actually walk towards the subject instead of zooming in.

      Zahariz me too still can't figure out how to slow down the footage to 24fps WITH the p20 pro, all I found is do it with premiere pro on pc, I kinda wish I can do it all in the smartphone hahahaha

    • @ZaharizKhuzaimah
      @ZaharizKhuzaimah  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@markloh9182 yeah would love to shoot in 24fps. I would say the footage came from Huawei is super sharp etc but it doesnt really look cinematic but rather looks so digital. But normal people dont usually see the difference so I guess its not so important. I'm not surprised if 2-3 years from now smartphones can produce very cinematic footages and even shoot video in raw mode. Then we can all sell our expensive cinema cameras on FB marketplace or ebay )))
