He blabbed about the Wong fight... despite promising he wouldnt say anything (staying silent about two Teachers fighting behind closed doors, was part of Chinese Tradition). Which is likely how this fight got blabbed about as well. Lee did drugs, and cheating on his wife. And while he was in Hong Kong, he intentionally started fights.. and seriously injured, a Lot of people. Lee also held back a lot of information to his Students, because he didnt want them to become an actual Challenge against him. While Lee was a great practitioner... and a decent actor... he wasnt a very "Moral" or "Good" person. Admire Lee for his hardcore work ethics... any maybe even his acting. But realize that Lee wasnt always a very Nice guy.

Just love hearing real stories about Bruce, once again he proves that he was a gentleman as well as a great fighter, Bruce had the power to inflict serious harm on his opponent. But he didn't. I read Jessie's book back in '77, and about this fight he said that after being beaten in 11 seconds, after the Karate fighter came to, out of compassion for his feelings, the time keeper (one of Bruce's guys) told him the fight went 22 seconds, doubling the time so he wouldn't feel so bad.
@@MrJoebangleec Its going on almost 50 years ago and I no longer have the book (had to purge stuff over the years), but it was something like "Between Wing Chun And JKD" by Jessie Glover. It was self published and they didn't spend money on a proof reader, so several spelling and grammatical errors made it into the book, but the subject matter made it tolerable for me, a Bruce Lee fan. It came out in late '76 or early '77 (I remember being in college and reading it between classes when I should have been studying my actual lessons) and was advertised and sold through several martial arts magazines from that time.
Thanks so much for telling this story! I had never heard this one before. I really enjoyed (and impressed) by the focus on how Bruce's handling of the fight impacted those around him. I wonder if there's a point in Bruce's life that could be considered the moment his legend was born. Maybe this was it?

I realize there's a lot of controversy around Bruce Lee, but I've always appreciated his acting skills. He really was a great actor and owned every scene he was in. If he had lived, he would have earned more than one Academy Award.

Nice! Some people always make the Wong Jackman fight as the so called "forgotten" fight of Bruce Lee, but its actually the most hyped from all. The forgotten is this one. But for the start: I consider myself a huge Lee fan, but I am not absolute convinced about this thing. I actually do believe there was a confrontation with a Japanese karateka, but I wouldnt bet it was him. Facts are: Wong Jackman's people never denied Jackman fought Bruce, even if they have their own version. But Yoichi's followers and successors stated many times its a lie! They say Yoichi knew Bruce, yes, and he disliked him. When people are speaking about Jesse Glover: Dont get me wrong people, as much I like and respect Jesse, I am not some sc..bag like Tony Valente who encourages people to throw garbage on Jesse's grave, but Jesse lied about several things, and he confused dates, numbers and people. Want an example? Matt Polly was the first guy ever who pointed out Bruce and Jesse had a terrible fallout in 1963. Jesse and Jim DeMile opened two rival schools, and Jesse even stole Bruces car and slept in it. They were never friends again afterwards. They saw each other one time more in 1965 on a birthday, had a good talk, and that was it. But yet still for decades Jesse made seminars and never told Bruces fans about these things. Jesse confused Howard Hall with Ed Hart which was also pointed out his memories about several things are wrong. He said Hall moved to the East Coast in the early 60s, but it was Hart who did it. Notice: For many decades this Japanese was spelled UECHI, which is a comon family/last name in Japan. But suddenly after many many years, some people changed the family name UECHI to the first/given name YOICHI, and added Nakachi as family/last name. As far as I know, nobody except Jesse ever named this guy "Yoichi Nakachi", but I just showed why this source is questionable, because Jesse also confused Ed Hart with Howard Hall in his "Between WC and JKD" book. Yoichi's people said once if I remember correctly (it was around 2005 in the internet) the guy who fought Bruce was a Japanese who had the last/family name Uechi, which is like i said a FAMILY name, while YOICHI is a GIVEN name. I do respect all views and opinions! So please to all of you respect mine. It is possible this guy was Yoichi Nakachi, but its also possible Jesse like he did with Hall and Hart confused Mr Nakachi with a Mr Uechi. Fact is nobody ever identiefied this man as "Yoichi Nakachi" except of Jesse Glover. All others like Doug Palmer, Ed Hart etc only name him "the karate man". And be it 2001 or 2010, he was always spelled "Uechi", I remember that very well! Things like that do happen! It even happened in the world of Miyamoto Musashi! The novel author Eji Yoshikawa faked the real Musashi to fairytale. And he created things like Musashi's given name as child was Takezo, when it was Bennosuke. And Yoshikawa also claimed Musashi had a duel with a "Shishido, Baiken", when infact this guy was only known by his family name Shishido, Baiken was a made up given name by Yoshikawa. Long story short: Yes, maybe it was Yoichi Nakachi. But I wouldnt bet my life on it! Its also a bit weird to me whe even such critical investigators like Matt Polly took Yoichi for granit even if there exist contradictions. I dont doubt Bruce beat the guy like it was described. I am only not 100% concinved about his identity.

Speed, great conditioning plus power will almost always be a winning combination. I know this to be true because as a young martial artist I defeated a black belt in karate when I was 17 due to my hard training and study. Bruce Lee was my teacher even though we never meet but I studied everything I could find about his fighting method in 1974.
Allegedly, he started training with Bruce after the fight. He quit after a few weeks and that was that. In 1965, he returned to Japan and went on teaching and living his life.
Why does the pic of Bruce throwing Jesse on the Seattle TV program they were on NOT look like Bruce's face or hair style at all? Did someone change the head on the photo?

You left out the part where the karateka was on his knees and Bruce was about to kick him and Jesse yelled, "No!" If you listen to the full Ed Hart interview you showed and the full Jesse Glover interview you showed, they both talk about how Bruce was going to finish him off if Jesse didn't yell.
Yes, this was a very interesting fight, and at the very beginning of Bruce's art. I'd like to see a video on the Ryan O'Oneal scuffle. Apparently, he was a top Golden Gloves boxer who'd actually faught against Joe Frazier in a charity match, with Ali in the crowd, and was congratulated by Ali on his performance. Apparently, he had no respect for martial artists until his scuffle with Bruce, Lol!!
Yep, he could still throw a punch and apparently, according to John Little's book he was a bit rough with the martial artists on set, and Bruce was invited on to meet him, intentionally, and one thing lead to another with Ryan O'Oneal suffering broken ribs, from all accounts after a demonstration.
Wong refused to even use his famous kicking skills, because he didnt want to Harm Lee. In fact, he spend most of the time, trying to avoid Lee.. for the same reason. Wong thought he was going into a Friendly sparring match... But Lee was trying to "End" him... using Finger strikes... etc. Lee and his team, also Lied about the results of the fight. Lee gassed out.. and they called the fight a draw... as at that particular time, Lee was nowhere near in "Fighting Shape". It was only AFTER this fight... when Lee upped his training efforts, adding more Strength exercises, as well as serious levels of Cardio. You Only assume a fight with a Karate Practitioner, would be more "Tough"... because you have no idea what kinds of skills that someone like Wong, actually Possess. I have 30 years in the arts, spanning many different artforms. I also have countless heavy / full contact sparring matches, against artists of all kinds. Let me tell you... Some of the most skilled, Brutal, and Challenging fighters that Ive ever encountered.. all had some Chinese arts training under them. They were all on a whole other level... compared to Karate, or any of the other more Modernized / Sportized arts. It wasnt even Close to a comparison. One of the best, was a guy that had like 7 Different arts under his belt... and most were Chinese arts: JKD, Shaolin Longfist, Tai Chi, 5 Animal Style, Chinese Grappling (Chi Na), and many more. His forearms were like thick Tree Branches. And despite being a larger sized dude... he moved with speed, precision, and fluidity. His mild level impacts, were downright Brutal... and thats saying a lot.... considering my decades worth of Hardcore Iron Body conditioning. Unlike most modern fighters... he maintained Flawless Traditional Form, during the entire Match. Where as most modern fighters... end up looking like sloppy kickboxers... losing any and all traces, of Traditional form. Remember... that Karate actually came from White Crane Kung Fu. Some ancient Japanese men were traveling through China... and saw a school practicing.... then asked to Join and learn. Not sure if they learned the entire artform... but they eventually left back home to Japan, and revealed + spread what they had learned. Originally, they just called it "China Hand" (likely due to the language barriers). But eventually, the Japanese decided to rename it to "Open Hand" (which is what "Karate" translates into). Over the many many years... a lot of the original combat technology, has been lost and or Degraded. Especially when the Industrial Period hit Japan. As such, the Karate of even Lee's era... was a far cry from the Original Ancient Karate. Of course, the Chinese arts have also suffered a lot of degradations too... but not quite as badly. Most of the problems with Chinese arts in the modern era... is not the knowledge... but instead, the lack of hardcore / serious practitioners. Btw... Interestingly enough... I believe it was after Lee's passing, that one of Lee tops students (Dan Insanto), went to Wong Jack Man's school, to learn some of Wong's Kicks. That speaks volumes about what Wong was actually capable of. The problem is that Lee was a hot headed kid, that wanted to prove himself (EGO)... and instead of learning more from Wong... he merely wanted to try to Harm Wong, instead. Eventually, Wong got angered when Lee started to say that he defeated Wong... so Wong Issued a Public Fight Challenge. However, Lee... despite saying that he never backed down from a fight... Refused to accept that Public Fight Challenge, against Wong. And its a good thing... Because, when you know what is in those higher level arts.. you realize just how quickly, and how badly... he could have actually Injured Lee.

And as such, Lee was still quite Ignorant in his Opinions of the Chinese arts. Still... Lee's mind was eventually opening.. because he would go on to meet a few key Chinese artists, behind closed doors.. and was gaining knowledge that very few Lee-Fanboys know anything about. According to Linda, the fight was over Bruce teaching Gung Fu to non Chinese; which angered Chinese elders. - This might be Linda's "Opinion" or "Assumption", but its not correct. If the so called Elders were angered, it would not have been about teaching westerners. It would have been about Lee badmouthing Traditional Arts. - The truth is, Wong Jack Man was interested in having a "Friendly" exchange with Lee... especially since he was calling himself the Greatest Fighter in the World. A certain trouble maker, made it appear that Wong wanted a Serious Fight.. not a mild sparring session. SO... When Wong got there... he was surprised to find that Lee was actually trying to "END" him. Lee was using things like Finger Strikes, which you dont do, in a sparring match. If Bruce lost the fight he would be forced to stop teaching non Chinese or close his schools. - You do realize how foolish, Illegal, and Illogical that is, right?! Nobody can Force you to stop teaching in the USA. Even if you were beat up... you could simply get a Gun, or carry a sharp knife with you... and keep things going. Linda stated that the fight lasted about 3 minutes and Bruce was exhausted after making Wong submit - One of the things that changed my mind about Lees story... was when I read every one of Lee's camps accounts. They are all WILDLY different in details. One of them said the fight lasted a few minutes... where as another stated something like 30 minutes. Some said Linda was there. One said she was outside the studio. One said she was at home. - Imagine if your WORLD FAMOUS teacher was challenged to a serious fight. You would remember every single detail, as it would be permanently Burned into your brain forever. Yet these students of his... were telling vastly different tales. Why? - You see... Lee previously agreed to keep their match secret, as was the traditional thing to do. But when Lee failed to perform well against Wong... he didnt want the risk of that getting out to the public, by Wong opening him mouth... So when Lee was being interviewed.. he decided to put out a false narrative first. You see, Lee couldnt risk his "Superhuman" reputation being tarnished in the public eye... least he lose potential Hollywood roles. As such, he told his story... But, It appears that he never went to tell his students beforehand. Thus, each have wildly different details about the exchange. - Also realize, that Wong was teaching the arts in private... and he eventually opened a public school, where he taught plenty of westerners. If Wong was so against the teaching of westerners.. Why would he change his mind about it, and open a public school? Wouldnt the "Elders" get on his case too?! - After learning that Lees short range power generation, was pretty much a Traditional Chinese Arts method called "Fajin" (explosive power)... AND, I had fully mastered it to Lethal levels at mere INCH ranges... My respect for Tai Chi, and other Chinese arts, grew immensely. (My initial training, started in Wing Chun.. and later expanded into some Tai Chi, Shaolin, and other methods). - And after years of practicing and mastering these methods.. as well as getting MUCH deeper into the art of Wing Chun than Lee did... I realized that there was no way that Lee would have easily beaten Wong... As Wong was a Master of much deeper arts than Wing Chun. - In fact... its even admitted that Wong refused to use his Northern style Kicks.. because he felt it would be too unfair, and too dangerous. Interestingly enough... Lees top student, Dan Insanto... eventually went to Wong, to learn some of that stuff from him (likely after Lees passing. I cant recall the timeline... just that he went there). - Wong's side of the story makes a lot more sense. Lee was still fairly young in the arts, when he sparred against Wong... and at that time.. he wasnt in very good physical shape. He lacked good cardio.. and he also lacked heavy hitting power. Lee even describes hitting Wong in the back of the head... and not being able to effect Lee. That shows that Lee, at that time... was very poor in ability. - At first, Lee blamed the Art for his failures. But you know.. Ive personally have Knocked out many fighters, using the WC vertical fist punch... from my lead hand, using less than 6 inches of arm travel, and using less than 15% of the power that I was capable of delivering. And that was when I only weighed about 150 lbs, at 6ft tall. - A lot of people assume that Lee was always Skilled and Jacked.. and that wasnt the case. After Lee struggles to spar with Wong.. he decided to train Much harder, and included running (cardio), as well as adding strength building exercises. - I believe Wong probably hit Lee with some mild short range Fajin strikes.. and Lee would then spend a ton of effort, trying to replicate this power for himself. This is likely what lead Lee to doing the Inch punch demos (which btw, are duplicated from Tai Chi demo's. Only difference is that Lee uses a fist shape, where as Tai Chi uses a Palm for the demos. Energy wise, its the exact same thing.
@@jessrando1953 Part 2: Its very possible that Linda, and a few others.. Mistook the Challenges that Lee was facing... You see... Lee only learned PART of the 1st level of Wing Chun, before he moved to the USA. There are 3 levels in WC.. and you dont even learn the Footwork, until the 2nd level. Each Level of training in WC.. can take a few years to fully complete. When Lee got here, he eventually started teaching private students, the Wing Chun that he had learned in Hong Kong. Due to Wing Chun being so much more advanced than the Westernized / Sportized arts... and WC had not been so corrupted / sportized itself... Lee was able to easily defeat western martial artists, with fair ease. Traditionally speaking... if you were not Certified to be a teacher... you really were not supposed to be teaching a Public Kung Fu School. At most, you might have a few private buddies that you taught and practiced with, behind closed doors... But even in China, that likely would have been frowned upon.. and likely would have lead the teacher kicking you out of school. So when Lee opened a Public school.. and was teaching Wing Chun without any formal Degree... It was seen as a poor thing to do. Not only might it ruffle feathers in the martial arts circles... but more importantly to Lee.. was that every potential student that walked into the door... Lee has to explain why he didnt have Proof of Lineage / Degree. And how he might be cornered into stating that he didnt finish the art.. and worse, only had a few years worth of training within it... not even getting to the footwork section, let alone.. the advanced Leg Fencing methods. The thing is... Westerners like his Wife, had no clue about these matters. Their perspective, is that the Chinese were Holding Lee back from progress / success. When in reality, Lee was his own worst enemy. In fact, its speculated that Lee was forced to move to USA, because Lee beat up a Triad gang members son, so badly that he needed to be hospitalized. And to prevent the potential Triad Revenge... his parents quickly shipped him to the USA. Had Lee been a "Good Boy", rather than instigating fights, and beating up a large number of men, and teachers... and telling fellow students that Yipman was Sick, to get private sessions with Yipman.. Then Lee would have never have been kicked out of Yipmans school, and never have been sent to the USA. He likely would have completed his full WC training.. and reached a whole other level of capabilities. He also likely would have studied many other Chinese arts methods, while there. In order to deal with the embarassment, and explanations... Lee tried to Hide the Wing Chun teachings, by claiming they were from other Artforms. For example Fencing. The truth is, that WC's main foundation, is based on Arm and Leg fencing methods. He also mentioned Savate for kicks... But WC also uses a lot of similar kicking methods to savate. Lee also eventually stopped teaching Chi Sao drills... and the thing is.. it became painfully clear, that his elder students that had learned and practiced Chi Sao, were MUCH better fighters, due to that training. The newer students that didnt learn it, couldnt even compare. Lee actually never wanted to be a teacher. In fact, he kind of hated it. He needed to do it, for the extra cash, and to use them as his own personal "Training Dummies". Many of his students would later write about this fact... when they missed a day of class, and Lee refused to teach them the new material. It seems that Lee was teaching some of the students different material.. and holding it back from others, intentionally. This is because Lee didnt want the possibility that any of his students, to match or exceed his own abilities. If they managed to beat and embarrass him... then it could hurt his Ego and most importantly.. His Perceived Public Image (as the most powerful / skillful fighter in the world). There is a Lot more to all of this... But most fanboys are simply unwilling to look deep into it... because they just want to Believe their Hero, without Question. At most, they might find a specific quote.. but never the whole story behind it all. As such, these quote are often completely wrong. For example... its thought that Lee abandoned WC, due to his bad results in the Wong Fight. However, Lee was both still teaching + training WC methods.. BUT ALSO... when Lee got paid from his film work... he went back to Hong Kong, with BAGS OF CASH in his hands... and tried to Bribe Yipman into secretly "Speed-Teaching" him the full art of Wing Chun. Yipman refused, as he didnt want to upset his disciples, nor the other students... as well as it not being the right way to do things. You have to EARN and prove your skills, over a long period of time. There are things that cant be "Speed" learned, without great misunderstandings, loss, and not having the right body type / muscle sets...etc.
@@jessrando1953 Part 3: Im going to add one more thing: Imagine if someone learned 1 years worth of Kyokushin Karate... then they quit the school, and opened their own school up, and started teaching that material... under a different Name. The Kyokushin practitioners, teachers, and organizations... would rightfully be upset.. and might aggressively try to prevent you from teaching their material. This is basically what Lee was up against. He was a bit of a fool to open up a Public school, with only a few yrs worth of training. He made things worse, by claiming he was one of the best fighters in the world.. while often talking trash about other artforms methods. But ultimately, it was mostly his own embarrassment, that likely led to him trying to Hide the Wing Chun training material... removing Chi Sao, and more... because again, all of that lead back to Lee never completing the WC system... and so people would always be Questioning his historical lineage, thus, continually embarrassing him.
Not wanting to embarrass the karate guy, showed the type of man that Bruce Lee was; (even at that age). Most young men that age would’ve been bragging all over the neighborhood. And they say the Bruce was cocky & full of himself. I beg to differ, “there’s a difference between behaving like that & being “Confident.” (In Your Abilities).

Do was a mix manuals artist but the internet says he was a actor and a fake fighter but beat a man who dominated people in the streets who used knives against him and dude was the best karate and Judo fighter in town at the time!!!
Calling a first degree black belt in a no contact, stop/go point sparring Japanese Karate system a “Karate Master”, which the minimum rank for is fifth dan sounds like something that Beerdy’s would do. “Legendary showdown with Wong Jack-man”? He was a 23 year old waiter at a Chinese restaurant who moonlighted by teaching traditional Chinese martial arts to a small group of students at a recreation center in San Francisco.
Wong was a lot more Skilled than most people realize. Wong thought he was going to have a friendly sparring session with Lee... and Lee was trying to use Lethal techs, like Finger strikes, on him.. during the Match. Wong did everything he could to try to Avoid seriously harming Lee. Its claimed by Wong and Wongs students, that Lee eventually gassed out... and the match was called a Draw. As at that point, Lee had not developed himself physically enough as a fighter... and severely lacked Power, Strength, and Stamina. Lees camp obviously Lied about what actually happened that day... and you can tell by all of their VASTLY different details, in each of their Accounts. That said... After realizing his own lackings... Lee started pushing himself much harder, and training far longer, with a much higher level of Intensity. He also started developing greater Core strength, and overall muscular strength... in addition to bumping up his Cardio, to prevent gassing out. Due to his constant, daily... non-stop training efforts... He reached "Masterclass" level output... in Record Breaking time. Also, since Wong was a Master of the Internal Arts... he would have known "Fajin" (Short range, Explosive Power). I believe Wong had landed a few MILD fajin strikes on Lee... And afterwards... Lee made it his mission to figure out how to develop that kind of power, himself. Wing Chun teaches the main internal Principles... but its in-class training sessions... often lacks the greater depth, of actual Short Range Expression and full Mastery. So while Lethal Level Fajin, Used to be a Staple of Wing Chun... Most schools lack that key knowledge (and I believe even Yipman, may have held that technology back from Most of his students). Now... You might be closer to the truth about the Karate fighter. Hard to say, because I dont know anything about him. What I can say... is that Karate has a very wide range of differences... depending on the Karate version, and depending on when and where it was taught. The older the school... the more likely it was more "Hardcore", and far Less "Sportized". Some of the least degraded, and most hardcore of traditional Karate training that Ive seen... still Exists in very remote, and small, schools in Okinawa. Such as the practice of Attacking Stone blocks to your limbs, and kicking, punching, and doing long forms... with them on. As well as the holding of large clay / ceramic pots with widespread fingers... for extended periods of time. And thats just the start of the differences. I will, however, agree... that the term "Master" is way too lightly thrown around. Being a practitioner.. and being a good fighter... are still both very different, from a "MASTERCLASS" level output. For example... being about to KO someone from a long distance strike... is very different from an actual Master, that is capable of dealing instant Brain Damages (or d3th) ...from a strike that only travels 2 inches. Many people consider such a thing, Fantasy. But, I myself.. Mastered short range power, from Chinese Internal arts methods... And I was easily able to KO fighters with vertical fist strikes, with less than 6 inches of travel... and I never used more than about 15% of the power I was capable of delivering... to do so. Of course, I wouldnt have believed such things myself, earlier in my own career in the arts. It took actual development, as well as feeling such a hit from another Master... to fully understand.. that such a level even Existed. As for Lee... He definitely would not have been anywhere near Master level, at this particular encounter. Though, his Dual Arm interception skills from Wing Chun... would definitely have given him a huge Edge, compared to a lot of Sportized Karate of that Era. Eventually Lee would develop Masterclass level output potentials. However... Lee's depth of knowledge, would still pale in comparison to the full Depths of the Chinese Combat arts methods. He had only gotten a small bit of Chinese arts instruction... before leaving for the USA. Where as Wong, for example... Trained in a much deeper Chinese art, and for FAR longer than Lee. It would have been much better for Lee to have dropped his Ego... and learned from Wong... rather than trying to prove himself in a fight. Eventually, Lee would go back to training more in the Chinese arts. He also tried to bribe Yipman into Speed-Teaching him the entire Wing Chun system.. but Yipman refused. Lee was also known to try to bribe knowledge from other Chinese arts Senior students, as well. Much of what he learned form such sources, was never made public. And even many of his own students, were not given such knowledge, either.

The note left by Nakachi. I'm thinking Bruce figured I have to deal with this. If roles were reversed and Nakachi got the upper hand, I don't think bruce would've allowed him to leave the court until he got the best of 3 or 5 or 7 falls. And then he'd still want a rematch to redeem his 1 fall. If Bruce felt bested it would've haunted him. Until he felt he was indisputably the superior fighter. Nakachi would've created a monster if he he wasn't decisively defeated. It's unfortunate that Nakachi put himself into this box though. That was a long walk to the car, Long drive home. How long before he was in the dojo again. His people were there after all. It was never the same again was it? For Nakachi? Whether or not he saw it or not, I'm sure he thought he saw himself differently through the eyes of his fellow martial artists.
It's really good that Bruce Lee declined a "round 2". From the description of the event, it sounds like the karate master was already concussed. I'm sure other people here know this better than I do, but I'm guessing Karate has it's own limitations when used in a different context like an MMA fight. That was probably not well understood at the time... FWIW, many traditional MA masters in China have challenged MMA fighter Xu Xiaodong repeatedly without much success.

Shows Bruce what he was really about that he did not want no one to know about it. Sure there other fights and challenges Bruce had he made or asked people to keep quite. Wing Chun is hardly a soft style Unfortunately, Bruce's movies often beat up karate guys. You see it in virtually all of his movies. I'm Chinese. Nothing special about Kung Fu at all.

Well im very dissapointed at Bruce Lee. The fact that the other guy didnt die or atleast injured so badly that he would meed hospital tells me that Bruce lees strikes are weak. For the guy who (accurately) calls out Beerdy’s and Real Bruce Lee Fight Channel for their lies, I am disgusted to see how you have been doing the same thing they are. At the very least, Nakachi was only a first degree black belt in a no contact, stop/go point sparring version of Japanese Karate. Those are given out like candy in Japan and are equivalent to a High School Diploma. That’s one of the justifications that American McDojos use for their extremely low standards and point out that their standards are no lower than what is common in Japan (and in Korea for Taekwondo). You’re not even considered at expert levels until 3rd dan and aren’t at master levels until 5th (which is comparable to a doctorate level). So you calling him a “master” is just as bad of clickbait as something Beerdy’s would say. Beyond that, which is beyond any doubt, you have recently been so biased in your blind acceptance of whatever Lee’s students claim, no matter what anyone else says, that your bias destroys any credibility that you had earned in the past. I find it very difficult to believe Lee’s students like Glover and Hart in this case since Nakachi himself said that he and Bruce were friends and that they had never even sparred, let alone had this match. Glover and Hart have a history of stretching the truth. I don’t know if their account or Nakachi’s are accurate in this one instance, but your blind faith in what you want to hear from Lee’s students and blowing off the other accounts makes you far less credible. You have jumped on the alleged accounts by Bruce’s students over guys like Norris and Lewis even though those fighters have far more credibility and corroboration than guys like Kareem or Herb Jackson have for their fairytales. Mike Stone, Joe Lewis and Chuck Norris have all said for decades that they never free sparred with Lee and that he only did prearranged drills with them and that was confirmed by Dan Inosanto in a joint interview with Lewis. Yet, since that’s not what either you or your audience wants to hear, you dismiss that. I knew and occasionally trained with Lewis and like many (probably most) who actually knew him, I didn’t like him much, but despite his other faults, he wasn’t a liar. I also knew Mr. Norris during the eighties and nineties and he always impressed me with his character and he was always an honorable man. Actually, from what I have seen, more credible than Bruce was.
My older brother saw him in 1967 in Long Beach California! My brother was 21 yrs old at the time and he's seen a lot of fighters from different martial arts come and go and says he never saw anyone as fast and powerful as Bruce Lee! My brother attended at least 4 Sugar Ray Leonard fights and says not even Leonards's hand speed compared to Bruce Lee!

He blabbed about the Wong fight... despite promising he wouldnt say anything (staying silent about two Teachers fighting behind closed doors, was part of Chinese Tradition). Which is likely how this fight got blabbed about as well. Lee did drugs, and cheating on his wife. And while he was in Hong Kong, he intentionally started fights.. and seriously injured, a Lot of people. Lee also held back a lot of information to his Students, because he didnt want them to become an actual Challenge against him. While Lee was a great practitioner... and a decent actor... he wasnt a very "Moral" or "Good" person. Admire Lee for his hardcore work ethics... any maybe even his acting. But realize that Lee wasnt always a very Nice guy.

I read Jessie's book back in '77, and about this fight he said that after being beaten in 11 seconds, after the Karate fighter came to, out of compassion for his feelings, the time keeper (one of Bruce's guys) told him the fight went 22 seconds, doubling the time so he wouldn't feel so bad.

@@MrJoebangleec Its going on almost 50 years ago and I no longer have the book (had to purge stuff over the years), but it was something like "Between Wing Chun And JKD" by Jessie Glover.
It was self published and they didn't spend money on a proof reader, so several spelling and grammatical errors made it into the book, but the subject matter made it tolerable for me, a Bruce Lee fan.
It came out in late '76 or early '77 (I remember being in college and reading it between classes when I should have been studying my actual lessons) and was advertised and sold through several martial arts magazines from that time.

I realize there's a lot of controversy around Bruce Lee, but I've always appreciated his acting skills. He really was a great actor and owned every scene he was in. If he had lived, he would have earned more than one Academy Award.

Nice! Some people always make the Wong Jackman fight as the so called "forgotten" fight of Bruce Lee, but its actually the most hyped from all. The forgotten is this one.
But for the start: I consider myself a huge Lee fan, but I am not absolute convinced about this thing. I actually do believe there was a confrontation with a Japanese karateka, but I wouldnt bet it was him.
Facts are: Wong Jackman's people never denied Jackman fought Bruce, even if they have their own version. But Yoichi's followers and successors stated many times its a lie! They say Yoichi knew Bruce, yes, and he disliked him.
When people are speaking about Jesse Glover:
Dont get me wrong people, as much I like and respect Jesse, I am not some sc..bag like Tony Valente who encourages people to throw garbage on Jesse's grave, but Jesse lied about several things, and he confused dates, numbers and people.
Want an example?
Matt Polly was the first guy ever who pointed out Bruce and Jesse had a terrible fallout in 1963. Jesse and Jim DeMile opened two rival schools, and Jesse even stole Bruces car and slept in it. They were never friends again afterwards. They saw each other one time more in 1965 on a birthday, had a good talk, and that was it.
But yet still for decades Jesse made seminars and never told Bruces fans about these things.
Jesse confused Howard Hall with Ed Hart which was also pointed out his memories about several things are wrong. He said Hall moved to the East Coast in the early 60s, but it was Hart who did it.
Notice: For many decades this Japanese was spelled UECHI, which is a comon family/last name in Japan. But suddenly after many many years, some people changed the family name UECHI to the first/given name YOICHI, and added Nakachi as family/last name.
As far as I know, nobody except Jesse ever named this guy "Yoichi Nakachi", but I just showed why this source is questionable, because Jesse also confused Ed Hart with Howard Hall in his "Between WC and JKD" book.
Yoichi's people said once if I remember correctly (it was around 2005 in the internet) the guy who fought Bruce was a Japanese who had the last/family name Uechi, which is like i said a FAMILY name, while YOICHI is a GIVEN name.
I do respect all views and opinions! So please to all of you respect mine. It is possible this guy was Yoichi Nakachi, but its also possible Jesse like he did with Hall and Hart confused Mr Nakachi with a Mr Uechi.
Fact is nobody ever identiefied this man as "Yoichi Nakachi" except of Jesse Glover. All others like Doug Palmer, Ed Hart etc only name him "the karate man". And be it 2001 or 2010, he was always spelled "Uechi", I remember that very well!
Things like that do happen! It even happened in the world of Miyamoto Musashi! The novel author Eji Yoshikawa faked the real Musashi to fairytale. And he created things like Musashi's given name as child was Takezo, when it was Bennosuke.
And Yoshikawa also claimed Musashi had a duel with a "Shishido, Baiken", when infact this guy was only known by his family name Shishido, Baiken was a made up given name by Yoshikawa.
Long story short: Yes, maybe it was Yoichi Nakachi. But I wouldnt bet my life on it! Its also a bit weird to me whe even such critical investigators like Matt Polly took Yoichi for granit even if there exist contradictions.
I dont doubt Bruce beat the guy like it was described. I am only not 100% concinved about his identity.

Speed, great conditioning plus power will almost always be a winning combination. I know this to be true because as a young martial artist I defeated a black belt in karate when I was 17 due to my hard training and study. Bruce Lee was my teacher even though we never meet but I studied everything I could find about his fighting method in 1974.
Bruce was humble, and mature beyond his years.

Allegedly, he started training with Bruce after the fight. He quit after a few weeks and that was that. In 1965, he returned to Japan and went on teaching and living his life.

You left out the part where the karateka was on his knees and Bruce was about to kick him and Jesse yelled, "No!" If you listen to the full Ed Hart interview you showed and the full Jesse Glover interview you showed, they both talk about how Bruce was going to finish him off if Jesse didn't yell.
Yes, this was a very interesting fight, and at the very beginning of Bruce's art. I'd like to see a video on the Ryan O'Oneal scuffle. Apparently, he was a top Golden Gloves boxer who'd actually faught against Joe Frazier in a charity match, with Ali in the crowd, and was congratulated by Ali on his performance. Apparently, he had no respect for martial artists until his scuffle with Bruce, Lol!!

I think this fight would probably have been a better watch than the Wong Jack Man one..
Wong refused to even use his famous kicking skills, because he didnt want to Harm Lee. In fact, he spend most of the time, trying to avoid Lee.. for the same reason. Wong thought he was going into a Friendly sparring match... But Lee was trying to "End" him... using Finger strikes... etc. Lee and his team, also Lied about the results of the fight. Lee gassed out.. and they called the fight a draw... as at that particular time, Lee was nowhere near in "Fighting Shape". It was only AFTER this fight... when Lee upped his training efforts, adding more Strength exercises, as well as serious levels of Cardio.
You Only assume a fight with a Karate Practitioner, would be more "Tough"... because you have no idea what kinds of skills that someone like Wong, actually Possess.
I have 30 years in the arts, spanning many different artforms. I also have countless heavy / full contact sparring matches, against artists of all kinds. Let me tell you... Some of the most skilled, Brutal, and Challenging fighters that Ive ever encountered.. all had some Chinese arts training under them. They were all on a whole other level... compared to Karate, or any of the other more Modernized / Sportized arts. It wasnt even Close to a comparison.
One of the best, was a guy that had like 7 Different arts under his belt... and most were Chinese arts: JKD, Shaolin Longfist, Tai Chi, 5 Animal Style, Chinese Grappling (Chi Na), and many more. His forearms were like thick Tree Branches. And despite being a larger sized dude... he moved with speed, precision, and fluidity. His mild level impacts, were downright Brutal... and thats saying a lot.... considering my decades worth of Hardcore Iron Body conditioning. Unlike most modern fighters... he maintained Flawless Traditional Form, during the entire Match. Where as most modern fighters... end up looking like sloppy kickboxers... losing any and all traces, of Traditional form.
Remember... that Karate actually came from White Crane Kung Fu. Some ancient Japanese men were traveling through China... and saw a school practicing.... then asked to Join and learn. Not sure if they learned the entire artform... but they eventually left back home to Japan, and revealed + spread what they had learned. Originally, they just called it "China Hand" (likely due to the language barriers). But eventually, the Japanese decided to rename it to "Open Hand" (which is what "Karate" translates into). Over the many many years... a lot of the original combat technology, has been lost and or Degraded. Especially when the Industrial Period hit Japan. As such, the Karate of even Lee's era... was a far cry from the Original Ancient Karate. Of course, the Chinese arts have also suffered a lot of degradations too... but not quite as badly. Most of the problems with Chinese arts in the modern era... is not the knowledge... but instead, the lack of hardcore / serious practitioners.
Btw... Interestingly enough... I believe it was after Lee's passing, that one of Lee tops students (Dan Insanto), went to Wong Jack Man's school, to learn some of Wong's Kicks. That speaks volumes about what Wong was actually capable of. The problem is that Lee was a hot headed kid, that wanted to prove himself (EGO)... and instead of learning more from Wong... he merely wanted to try to Harm Wong, instead. Eventually, Wong got angered when Lee started to say that he defeated Wong... so Wong Issued a Public Fight Challenge. However, Lee... despite saying that he never backed down from a fight... Refused to accept that Public Fight Challenge, against Wong. And its a good thing... Because, when you know what is in those higher level arts.. you realize just how quickly, and how badly... he could have actually Injured Lee.

A certain trouble maker, made it appear that Wong wanted a Serious Fight.. not a mild sparring session. SO... When Wong got there... he was surprised to find that Lee was actually trying to "END" him. Lee was using things like Finger Strikes, which you dont do, in a sparring match.
If Bruce lost the fight he would be forced to stop teaching non Chinese or close his schools.
- You do realize how foolish, Illegal, and Illogical that is, right?! Nobody can Force you to stop teaching in the USA. Even if you were beat up... you could simply get a Gun, or carry a sharp knife with you... and keep things going.

- One of the things that changed my mind about Lees story... was when I read every one of Lee's camps accounts. They are all WILDLY different in details. One of them said the fight lasted a few minutes... where as another stated something like 30 minutes. Some said Linda was there. One said she was outside the studio. One said she was at home.
- Imagine if your WORLD FAMOUS teacher was challenged to a serious fight. You would remember every single detail, as it would be permanently Burned into your brain forever. Yet these students of his... were telling vastly different tales. Why?
- You see... Lee previously agreed to keep their match secret, as was the traditional thing to do. But when Lee failed to perform well against Wong... he didnt want the risk of that getting out to the public, by Wong opening him mouth... So when Lee was being interviewed.. he decided to put out a false narrative first. You see, Lee couldnt risk his "Superhuman" reputation being tarnished in the public eye... least he lose potential Hollywood roles. As such, he told his story... But, It appears that he never went to tell his students beforehand. Thus, each have wildly different details about the exchange.
- Also realize, that Wong was teaching the arts in private... and he eventually opened a public school, where he taught plenty of westerners. If Wong was so against the teaching of westerners.. Why would he change his mind about it, and open a public school? Wouldnt the "Elders" get on his case too?!
- After learning that Lees short range power generation, was pretty much a Traditional Chinese Arts method called "Fajin" (explosive power)... AND, I had fully mastered it to Lethal levels at mere INCH ranges... My respect for Tai Chi, and other Chinese arts, grew immensely. (My initial training, started in Wing Chun.. and later expanded into some Tai Chi, Shaolin, and other methods).
- And after years of practicing and mastering these methods.. as well as getting MUCH deeper into the art of Wing Chun than Lee did... I realized that there was no way that Lee would have easily beaten Wong... As Wong was a Master of much deeper arts than Wing Chun.
- In fact... its even admitted that Wong refused to use his Northern style Kicks.. because he felt it would be too unfair, and too dangerous. Interestingly enough... Lees top student, Dan Insanto... eventually went to Wong, to learn some of that stuff from him (likely after Lees passing. I cant recall the timeline... just that he went there).
- Wong's side of the story makes a lot more sense. Lee was still fairly young in the arts, when he sparred against Wong... and at that time.. he wasnt in very good physical shape. He lacked good cardio.. and he also lacked heavy hitting power. Lee even describes hitting Wong in the back of the head... and not being able to effect Lee. That shows that Lee, at that time... was very poor in ability.
- At first, Lee blamed the Art for his failures. But you know.. Ive personally have Knocked out many fighters, using the WC vertical fist punch... from my lead hand, using less than 6 inches of arm travel, and using less than 15% of the power that I was capable of delivering. And that was when I only weighed about 150 lbs, at 6ft tall.
- A lot of people assume that Lee was always Skilled and Jacked.. and that wasnt the case. After Lee struggles to spar with Wong.. he decided to train Much harder, and included running (cardio), as well as adding strength building exercises.
- I believe Wong probably hit Lee with some mild short range Fajin strikes.. and Lee would then spend a ton of effort, trying to replicate this power for himself. This is likely what lead Lee to doing the Inch punch demos (which btw, are duplicated from Tai Chi demo's. Only difference is that Lee uses a fist shape, where as Tai Chi uses a Palm for the demos. Energy wise, its the exact same thing.

You see... Lee only learned PART of the 1st level of Wing Chun, before he moved to the USA. There are 3 levels in WC.. and you dont even learn the Footwork, until the 2nd level. Each Level of training in WC.. can take a few years to fully complete.
When Lee got here, he eventually started teaching private students, the Wing Chun that he had learned in Hong Kong.
Due to Wing Chun being so much more advanced than the Westernized / Sportized arts... and WC had not been so corrupted / sportized itself... Lee was able to easily defeat western martial artists, with fair ease.
Traditionally speaking... if you were not Certified to be a teacher... you really were not supposed to be teaching a Public Kung Fu School. At most, you might have a few private buddies that you taught and practiced with, behind closed doors... But even in China, that likely would have been frowned upon.. and likely would have lead the teacher kicking you out of school.
So when Lee opened a Public school.. and was teaching Wing Chun without any formal Degree... It was seen as a poor thing to do.
Not only might it ruffle feathers in the martial arts circles... but more importantly to Lee.. was that every potential student that walked into the door... Lee has to explain why he didnt have Proof of Lineage / Degree. And how he might be cornered into stating that he didnt finish the art.. and worse, only had a few years worth of training within it... not even getting to the footwork section, let alone.. the advanced Leg Fencing methods.
The thing is... Westerners like his Wife, had no clue about these matters. Their perspective, is that the Chinese were Holding Lee back from progress / success. When in reality, Lee was his own worst enemy.
In fact, its speculated that Lee was forced to move to USA, because Lee beat up a Triad gang members son, so badly that he needed to be hospitalized. And to prevent the potential Triad Revenge... his parents quickly shipped him to the USA.
Had Lee been a "Good Boy", rather than instigating fights, and beating up a large number of men, and teachers... and telling fellow students that Yipman was Sick, to get private sessions with Yipman.. Then Lee would have never have been kicked out of Yipmans school, and never have been sent to the USA. He likely would have completed his full WC training.. and reached a whole other level of capabilities. He also likely would have studied many other Chinese arts methods, while there.
In order to deal with the embarassment, and explanations... Lee tried to Hide the Wing Chun teachings, by claiming they were from other Artforms. For example Fencing. The truth is, that WC's main foundation, is based on Arm and Leg fencing methods. He also mentioned Savate for kicks... But WC also uses a lot of similar kicking methods to savate.
Lee also eventually stopped teaching Chi Sao drills... and the thing is.. it became painfully clear, that his elder students that had learned and practiced Chi Sao, were MUCH better fighters, due to that training. The newer students that didnt learn it, couldnt even compare.
Lee actually never wanted to be a teacher. In fact, he kind of hated it. He needed to do it, for the extra cash, and to use them as his own personal "Training Dummies". Many of his students would later write about this fact... when they missed a day of class, and Lee refused to teach them the new material. It seems that Lee was teaching some of the students different material.. and holding it back from others, intentionally. This is because Lee didnt want the possibility that any of his students, to match or exceed his own abilities. If they managed to beat and embarrass him... then it could hurt his Ego and most importantly.. His Perceived Public Image (as the most powerful / skillful fighter in the world).
There is a Lot more to all of this... But most fanboys are simply unwilling to look deep into it... because they just want to Believe their Hero, without Question. At most, they might find a specific quote.. but never the whole story behind it all. As such, these quote are often completely wrong.
For example... its thought that Lee abandoned WC, due to his bad results in the Wong Fight. However, Lee was both still teaching + training WC methods.. BUT ALSO... when Lee got paid from his film work... he went back to Hong Kong, with BAGS OF CASH in his hands... and tried to Bribe Yipman into secretly "Speed-Teaching" him the full art of Wing Chun. Yipman refused, as he didnt want to upset his disciples, nor the other students... as well as it not being the right way to do things. You have to EARN and prove your skills, over a long period of time. There are things that cant be "Speed" learned, without great misunderstandings, loss, and not having the right body type / muscle sets...etc.
@@jessrando1953 Part 3: Im going to add one more thing: Imagine if someone learned 1 years worth of Kyokushin Karate... then they quit the school, and opened their own school up, and started teaching that material... under a different Name.
The Kyokushin practitioners, teachers, and organizations... would rightfully be upset.. and might aggressively try to prevent you from teaching their material.
This is basically what Lee was up against. He was a bit of a fool to open up a Public school, with only a few yrs worth of training.
He made things worse, by claiming he was one of the best fighters in the world.. while often talking trash about other artforms methods.
But ultimately, it was mostly his own embarrassment, that likely led to him trying to Hide the Wing Chun training material... removing Chi Sao, and more... because again, all of that lead back to Lee never completing the WC system... and so people would always be Questioning his historical lineage, thus, continually embarrassing him.

does not negate the fact that Inosanto could have been told what happened by those who were there. he was in the inner circle. I dont think Dan makes it a point to spread rumors about bruce, but I could be wrong. im just saying that other people have said he finished the fight with a kick.

Calling a first degree black belt in a no contact, stop/go point sparring Japanese Karate system a “Karate Master”, which the minimum rank for is fifth dan sounds like something that Beerdy’s would do. “Legendary showdown with Wong Jack-man”? He was a 23 year old waiter at a Chinese restaurant who moonlighted by teaching traditional Chinese martial arts to a small group of students at a recreation center in San Francisco.
Wong was a lot more Skilled than most people realize. Wong thought he was going to have a friendly sparring session with Lee... and Lee was trying to use Lethal techs, like Finger strikes, on him.. during the Match. Wong did everything he could to try to Avoid seriously harming Lee. Its claimed by Wong and Wongs students, that Lee eventually gassed out... and the match was called a Draw. As at that point, Lee had not developed himself physically enough as a fighter... and severely lacked Power, Strength, and Stamina. Lees camp obviously Lied about what actually happened that day... and you can tell by all of their VASTLY different details, in each of their Accounts.
That said... After realizing his own lackings... Lee started pushing himself much harder, and training far longer, with a much higher level of Intensity. He also started developing greater Core strength, and overall muscular strength... in addition to bumping up his Cardio, to prevent gassing out. Due to his constant, daily... non-stop training efforts... He reached "Masterclass" level output... in Record Breaking time.
Also, since Wong was a Master of the Internal Arts... he would have known "Fajin" (Short range, Explosive Power). I believe Wong had landed a few MILD fajin strikes on Lee... And afterwards... Lee made it his mission to figure out how to develop that kind of power, himself. Wing Chun teaches the main internal Principles... but its in-class training sessions... often lacks the greater depth, of actual Short Range Expression and full Mastery. So while Lethal Level Fajin, Used to be a Staple of Wing Chun... Most schools lack that key knowledge (and I believe even Yipman, may have held that technology back from Most of his students).
Now... You might be closer to the truth about the Karate fighter. Hard to say, because I dont know anything about him. What I can say... is that Karate has a very wide range of differences... depending on the Karate version, and depending on when and where it was taught. The older the school... the more likely it was more "Hardcore", and far Less "Sportized". Some of the least degraded, and most hardcore of traditional Karate training that Ive seen... still Exists in very remote, and small, schools in Okinawa. Such as the practice of Attacking Stone blocks to your limbs, and kicking, punching, and doing long forms... with them on. As well as the holding of large clay / ceramic pots with widespread fingers... for extended periods of time. And thats just the start of the differences.
I will, however, agree... that the term "Master" is way too lightly thrown around. Being a practitioner.. and being a good fighter... are still both very different, from a "MASTERCLASS" level output. For example... being about to KO someone from a long distance strike... is very different from an actual Master, that is capable of dealing instant Brain Damages (or d3th) ...from a strike that only travels 2 inches. Many people consider such a thing, Fantasy. But, I myself.. Mastered short range power, from Chinese Internal arts methods... And I was easily able to KO fighters with vertical fist strikes, with less than 6 inches of travel... and I never used more than about 15% of the power I was capable of delivering... to do so.
Of course, I wouldnt have believed such things myself, earlier in my own career in the arts. It took actual development, as well as feeling such a hit from another Master... to fully understand.. that such a level even Existed.
As for Lee... He definitely would not have been anywhere near Master level, at this particular encounter. Though, his Dual Arm interception skills from Wing Chun... would definitely have given him a huge Edge, compared to a lot of Sportized Karate of that Era. Eventually Lee would develop Masterclass level output potentials. However... Lee's depth of knowledge, would still pale in comparison to the full Depths of the Chinese Combat arts methods. He had only gotten a small bit of Chinese arts instruction... before leaving for the USA. Where as Wong, for example... Trained in a much deeper Chinese art, and for FAR longer than Lee. It would have been much better for Lee to have dropped his Ego... and learned from Wong... rather than trying to prove himself in a fight.
Eventually, Lee would go back to training more in the Chinese arts. He also tried to bribe Yipman into Speed-Teaching him the entire Wing Chun system.. but Yipman refused. Lee was also known to try to bribe knowledge from other Chinese arts Senior students, as well. Much of what he learned form such sources, was never made public. And even many of his own students, were not given such knowledge, either.

The note left by Nakachi. I'm thinking Bruce figured I have to deal with this. If roles were reversed and Nakachi got the upper hand, I don't think bruce would've allowed him to leave the court until he got the best of 3 or 5 or 7 falls. And then he'd still want a rematch to redeem his 1 fall. If Bruce felt bested it would've haunted him. Until he felt he was indisputably the superior fighter. Nakachi would've created a monster if he he wasn't decisively defeated.
It's unfortunate that Nakachi put himself into this box though. That was a long walk to the car, Long drive home. How long before he was in the dojo again. His people were there after all. It was never the same again was it? For Nakachi? Whether or not he saw it or not, I'm sure he thought he saw himself differently through the eyes of his fellow martial artists.

It's really good that Bruce Lee declined a "round 2". From the description of the event, it sounds like the karate master was already concussed. I'm sure other people here know this better than I do, but I'm guessing Karate has it's own limitations when used in a different context like an MMA fight. That was probably not well understood at the time... FWIW, many traditional MA masters in China have challenged MMA fighter Xu Xiaodong repeatedly without much success.
Xu Xiaodong only fights conmen and frauds.

Wing Chun is hardly a soft style Unfortunately, Bruce's movies often beat up karate guys. You see it in virtually all of his movies. I'm Chinese. Nothing special about Kung Fu at all.

Well im very dissapointed at Bruce Lee. The fact that the other guy didnt die or atleast injured so badly that he would meed hospital tells me that Bruce lees strikes are weak. I my self can kill any man with 1 punch only, so naturally i thought Bruce was atleast as fast and strong as i.

For the guy who (accurately) calls out Beerdy’s and Real Bruce Lee Fight Channel for their lies, I am disgusted to see how you have been doing the same thing they are. At the very least, Nakachi was only a first degree black belt in a no contact, stop/go point sparring version of Japanese Karate. Those are given out like candy in Japan and are equivalent to a High School Diploma. That’s one of the justifications that American McDojos use for their extremely low standards and point out that their standards are no lower than what is common in Japan (and in Korea for Taekwondo). You’re not even considered at expert levels until 3rd dan and aren’t at master levels until 5th (which is comparable to a doctorate level). So you calling him a “master” is just as bad of clickbait as something Beerdy’s would say.
Beyond that, which is beyond any doubt, you have recently been so biased in your blind acceptance of whatever Lee’s students claim, no matter what anyone else says, that your bias destroys any credibility that you had earned in the past. I find it very difficult to believe Lee’s students like Glover and Hart in this case since Nakachi himself said that he and Bruce were friends and that they had never even sparred, let alone had this match. Glover and Hart have a history of stretching the truth. I don’t know if their account or Nakachi’s are accurate in this one instance, but your blind faith in what you want to hear from Lee’s students and blowing off the other accounts makes you far less credible.
You have jumped on the alleged accounts by Bruce’s students over guys like Norris and Lewis even though those fighters have far more credibility and corroboration than guys like Kareem or Herb Jackson have for their fairytales. Mike Stone, Joe Lewis and Chuck Norris have all said for decades that they never free sparred with Lee and that he only did prearranged drills with them and that was confirmed by Dan Inosanto in a joint interview with Lewis. Yet, since that’s not what either you or your audience wants to hear, you dismiss that. I knew and occasionally trained with Lewis and like many (probably most) who actually knew him, I didn’t like him much, but despite his other faults, he wasn’t a liar. I also knew Mr. Norris during the eighties and nineties and he always impressed me with his character and he was always an honorable man. Actually, from what I have seen, more credible than Bruce was.

My older brother saw him in 1967 in Long Beach California! My brother was 21 yrs old at the time and he's seen a lot of fighters from different martial arts come and go and says he never saw anyone as fast and powerful as Bruce Lee! My brother attended at least 4 Sugar Ray Leonard fights and says not even Leonards's hand speed compared to Bruce Lee!
