The Lands Between are pretty much confirmed to be shrunken down in scale. The regions of the map represent larger landmasses more like countries than regions, so it would undoubtedly be longer! What a knight.
Assuming that Finlay was walking 3 miles an hour (granted, carrying a giant Malenia with her), that would mean that the walk was roughly 648 miles, or just over a thousand kilometers. So Finlay walked what amounts to the distance of the Oder-Warta river in Central Europe, while fighting and surviving in an incredibly hostile environment. Respect.

you could give another walk a lore twist by calling it "roundtable knight vike's descent into madness" or something like that. in the lore of vikes weapons and armor it talks about how he couldn't bring himself to burn his maiden after getting to the mountaintops of the giants so he went down beneath the royal capital to get a hug from the three fingers. you could follow that route and start in front of vike's evergaol in the mountaintops and then go to the well in the royal capital , then go down through the sewers, and stand in front of the three fingers door before breaking through the illusory wall that leads to the deeproot depths there. then after that, head down through the depths till you reach the coffin that transports you to the "ainsel river main" site of grace, then head through those tunnels till you reach the location of the "wing of astel" curved sword. then you should be able to jump down to the ground below that chest. then head to the "ainsel river depths" site of grace and travel up the well into liurnia. from there, travel around through the bellum church , past the eye of sauron madness, and up through the frenzied flame village, and end the video at the church of inhibition where we find his dead maiden after we fight and kill vike before taking his spear for us and "grape" for hyetta and maiden's blood for varre
@@siamwse They should have no reason to mess with them, those albinaurics are part of the misfit community of the haligtree, I would be both worried and horrified that Malenia is comatose and has bloomed while Miquella remained missing because he chose to abandon everything in weird places in the Land of Shadow.
This is (somewhat) in canon since the Albinaurics are essentially refugees from the lands in between and took shelter in the Haligtree, with Malenia and Miquella welcoming them.
You know the haligtree really needs to look into some better pathing. Poor Finlay had to walk on some narrow tree roots, Jump a gap, descend a ladder, walk through a lake of scarlet rot, walk through some VERY narrow branches, go through the sewers onto the side of a building and more goddamn branches, drop down, all so she could drop Malenia off in her chair.
I'd like to imagine the haligtree only started to really decay badly once Malenia returned. Miquella's abundance countered her rot, and without him, the path to the center of the haligtree became infested by rot monsters
32:00 Actually, since it's implied Godrick swore loyalty to Malenia when she kicked his ass on her way to Radahn, there's a very real chance that Finlay just walked through Stormveil. Also, at 1:26:00, Finlay probably took a detour for Shaded Castle, where Malenia got her arm replaced. It's unsure if Malenia woke up at this point and walked with Finlay all the way back, or if Malenia was still too weak (or unconscious) and Finlay continued the legendary hike.

Honestly, since everyone basically calls him a coward, he could've just been too afraid to regardless of whether Finlay posed a threat. Or, perhaps while unconscious, Malenia is still exuding Scarlet Rot, so Godrick may've seen some grass instantly die and went "oh f*ck that, get the hell through and outta here" or something such. Still, I can also see him trying to off Malenia; perhaps Finlay didn't want to risk it. That brings another idea. Very possible that the bridge wasn't broken back then. Finlay could've just crossed the bridge. Kinda forgot about that. Thinking about how the past is different from the present, I'm not sure if Finlay had access to the Dectus Medallion to use the elevator, actually. Both halves are held in forts ruled by Radahn. I don't think Finlay just dropped the medallion at the elevator, and that the Redmane Soldiers hunted it down and brought it back to Caelid. So Finlay very possibly went through the Ruined Precipice, carrying Malenia while climbing bloody ladders - on top of hiking for a week. Damn. As for Shaded Castle - yeah, it's mentioned in the prosthesis key item! The lord of the Shaded Castle kept Malenia's old arm as a fetish item or something. Then again, it is possible that Malenia was taken straight to the Haligtree and that the Marais nobleman just... bought the old arm off the black market or something, somehow. Technically, it never explicitly says that Malenia popped by. Just mentions that it's her old arm, and that this dude got it. Just seems like it'd make sense if it was dropped off on the way, though.

There's 2 Giga Chads in ER. Radahn and Finlay. Even after being corrupted and eaten away from the inside out by Scarlet Rot, they still cared for the most important being in their life and fought off anyone trying to mess with them. I 🫡 both of them.

It's a FromSoft game so you're always so caught up in fighting to survive that, even though we all appreciate the beauty of the gorgeous sceneries, clifftop views, and the Erdtree's looming majesty, we don't really get to just walk through and appreciate what's around
They probably also sized down the map from the lore for gaming purposes. Assuming the island is the size of the UK it probably took many days. Here in Cornwall to tip of Scotland would be 12 days
This is like those 3-10 hour walking in Japan videos that people do for some reason, and for whatever reason it's always raining in those videos. This is genuinley something that you could probably sleep to.

As a cleanrot knight, Finlay should have been allowed access to the elevator that leads right to the haligtree roots, not be forced to walk through the drainage canal

this peaceful lore walk has made my creative gears turn! .......................................................A good long lore routing for another one might be "rannis quest" :::: Going from the start in rannis chamber at the top of rannis rise, back through liurnia (maybe stopping at the castle to go up to see queen renalla and the chest behind her, or even maybe the divine tower of liurnia) , into lingrave, down into the siofra well in the woods through the long elevator, through siofra river, up the well in ceilid , down south of the well past the runebear, south through the swamp of aonia to radhans castle (can take the portals into the castle), then back over through caelid, into lingrave into the hole made by the meteor to nokron, over the cliff in hollowthorn grounds to get the fingerslayer blade, then through the portal next to the chest that held the fingerslayer blade, then through the woods to the aquaducts, past the two curcible knights and the place with the valiant gargoyle duo boss , to the coffin that gets to deeproot depths, then going to the coffin next to where you get the crucible tree armor, taking that coffin down to ainsel river main, then going to noxtella, then down the elevator to the lake of rot, then down the cloister coffin to , astel, (naturalborn of the voids) arena, then up the elevator to the cathedral of manus celes and below to where ranni gives you the moonlight greatsword.
This absolute unit was: Dying from Scarlet Rot. Carrying a dying from Scarlet Rot spinning addicted prosthetic mommy. Walking at the speed of a sprinting snail for literal days. Passed countless foes and treacherous weather. Delivered Malenia at the Haligtree. Refused to elaborate. Died. Absolute Unit🗿

Finaly was a beast carrying malenia from caelid all the way to the haligtree and i as i read the comments i didnt know the war of the shattering was still happening when finlay was carrying malenia on her back and was malenia soldiers immune to the rot or no when the scarlet flower bloomed
The bodies of the cleanrot knights start to putrify overtime just being in the vicinity of Malenia. Given the fact she had just bloomed, and Finlay had no doubt been already suffering some of those effects due to serving with her for a long time, it's pretty likely Finlay was quickly turning to mush during her journey. Imagine carrying someone in full armour on your back who is also rotting you from the inside out just being near you, while you are also wearing full armour, carrying weapons, and fighting who-knows how many enemies for days, weeks or months, all while feeling your body turning to mush the whole way. Finlay may not have been a demi-god herself, but her dedication and sheer willpower were nothing short of legendary.
I can imagine every time you got to a place that was easy to put cuts in if you accidentally died, like the lifts for example, you were like "YES LETS GO, SAFE"

I'd like to imagine the haligtree only started to really decay badly once Malenia returned. Miquella's abundance countered her rot, and without him, the path to the center of the haligtree became infested by rot monsters

Actually, since it's implied Godrick swore loyalty to Malenia when she kicked his ass on her way to Radahn, there's a very real chance that Finlay just walked through Stormveil.
Also, at 1:26:00, Finlay probably took a detour for Shaded Castle, where Malenia got her arm replaced. It's unsure if Malenia woke up at this point and walked with Finlay all the way back, or if Malenia was still too weak (or unconscious) and Finlay continued the legendary hike.

@@TrashZora Maybe. Then again, if a "lowly Tarnished" can put down Godrick, I don't see why Finlay can't. Honestly, since everyone basically calls him a coward, he could've just been too afraid to regardless of whether Finlay posed a threat. Or, perhaps while unconscious, Malenia is still exuding Scarlet Rot, so Godrick may've seen some grass instantly die and went "oh f*ck that, get the hell through and outta here" or something such. Still, I can also see him trying to off Malenia; perhaps Finlay didn't want to risk it.
That brings another idea. Very possible that the bridge wasn't broken back then. Finlay could've just crossed the bridge. Kinda forgot about that. Thinking about how the past is different from the present, I'm not sure if Finlay had access to the Dectus Medallion to use the elevator, actually. Both halves are held in forts ruled by Radahn. I don't think Finlay just dropped the medallion at the elevator, and that the Redmane Soldiers hunted it down and brought it back to Caelid. So Finlay very possibly went through the Ruined Precipice, carrying Malenia while climbing bloody ladders - on top of hiking for a week. Damn.
As for Shaded Castle - yeah, it's mentioned in the prosthesis key item! The lord of the Shaded Castle kept Malenia's old arm as a fetish item or something.
Then again, it is possible that Malenia was taken straight to the Haligtree and that the Marais nobleman just... bought the old arm off the black market or something, somehow. Technically, it never explicitly says that Malenia popped by. Just mentions that it's her old arm, and that this dude got it. Just seems like it'd make sense if it was dropped off on the way, though.

It's a FromSoft game so you're always so caught up in fighting to survive that, even though we all appreciate the beauty of the gorgeous sceneries, clifftop views, and the Erdtree's looming majesty, we don't really get to just walk through and appreciate what's around

the cleanrot knights are just the coolest enemies. in looks, in moveset, and in lore.
As a cleanrot knight, Finlay should have been allowed access to the elevator that leads right to the haligtree roots, not be forced to walk through the drainage canal

this peaceful lore walk has made my creative gears turn! .......................................................A good long lore routing for another one might be "rannis quest" :::: Going from the start in rannis chamber at the top of rannis rise, back through liurnia (maybe stopping at the castle to go up to see queen renalla and the chest behind her, or even maybe the divine tower of liurnia) , into lingrave, down into the siofra well in the woods through the long elevator, through siofra river, up the well in ceilid , down south of the well past the runebear, south through the swamp of aonia to radhans castle (can take the portals into the castle), then back over through caelid, into lingrave into the hole made by the meteor to nokron, over the cliff in hollowthorn grounds to get the fingerslayer blade, then through the portal next to the chest that held the fingerslayer blade, then through the woods to the aquaducts, past the two curcible knights and the place with the valiant gargoyle duo boss , to the coffin that gets to deeproot depths, then going to the coffin next to where you get the crucible tree armor, taking that coffin down to ainsel river main, then going to noxtella, then down the elevator to the lake of rot, then down the cloister coffin to , astel, (naturalborn of the voids) arena, then up the elevator to the cathedral of manus celes and below to where ranni gives you the moonlight greatsword.

The reason Finlay isn't attacked by anything along the way is because they all find her too intimidating.
Finaly was a beast carrying malenia from caelid all the way to the haligtree and i as i read the comments i didnt know the war of the shattering was still happening when finlay was carrying malenia on her back and was malenia soldiers immune to the rot or no when the scarlet flower bloomed
finlay went through actual hell brining her back. Wish there was some way for me to show how awful it would have actually been
The bodies of the cleanrot knights start to putrify overtime just being in the vicinity of Malenia. Given the fact she had just bloomed, and Finlay had no doubt been already suffering some of those effects due to serving with her for a long time, it's pretty likely Finlay was quickly turning to mush during her journey.
Imagine carrying someone in full armour on your back who is also rotting you from the inside out just being near you, while you are also wearing full armour, carrying weapons, and fighting who-knows how many enemies for days, weeks or months, all while feeling your body turning to mush the whole way. Finlay may not have been a demi-god herself, but her dedication and sheer willpower were nothing short of legendary.
I can imagine every time you got to a place that was easy to put cuts in if you accidentally died, like the lifts for example, you were like "YES LETS GO, SAFE"
