I'm glad to see I'm not the only one bothered by the structure! I use the Legend tote as my daily work bag and always thought the collapsing corners were due to a) the size of the bag and b) the fact that I fill it to the brim. I love love love the organizational aspects of the bag and I'll continue to utilize it until the end of it's useful life, but it does frustrate me.

I had watched several videos in the past about these and had looked up several different work bags but most of them weren’t as functional for me as this one. Although I’m not a fan of the weight or the external material as much, because they were like 50% off, I just snagged one today in slate gray. I’m also glad I purchased the the Classic over the Legend since their straps don’t fall at all and really is too large for me and my laptop. However the structure and handles falling off my shoulders will bother me, I was glad to get it so much cheaper and hopefully I won’t grow to despise it later on down the line. I appreciate your review!

New subbie here. I am glad I saw your video, as I was really considering this tote. I love function and structure and for the price, this seems to lack the structure or loose it, which is totally annoying to me. I also store my bags in a large desk drawer at work, but if the hands are standing straight up, or end up cracking when trying to lie them down, then this is definitely a no go for me. The inside of the bag seems to be incredibly functional as far as the origination, but if the structure doesn’t withstand the test of time, then this bag is a definite no go for me. Hopefully, they will correct these structural issues; I read a lot reviews about the things that annoy you about this bag. Thanks for an honest review.

Nice analysis! I bought this bag on Black Friday sale after eyeing it for years. I haven't started using it yet since I'm saving it as a grad gift for myself, but your complaints are similar to other reviews I've seen. However, I don't think it will bother me too much. Honestly, I have yet to find a tote bag where one of the straps doesn't fall off my shoulder, including my current Longchamp! And I get that the creasing is annoying, but it honestly doesn't look that bad on your bag, it still looks very nice quality from what I can tell in the video. Adding more structure may also make the bag heavier, which is a third complaint I've seen a lot that it is already very heavy as it is. All valid points and a good review, though!

Haha, when you mentioned the strap that falls off your shoulder, I was immediately remembered of my LV Sèvres in Mahina leather (Galet colour). I'm usually a complete top-handle-bag girl, this is the only bag that I wear more often as a shoulder bag, since the straps are a little bit longer. It's beautiful, and I love it; but what you described is exactly what happens with my Sèvres. It drives me insane 😤😂! I was /still am on the hunt for one of these small clips (actually, nobody seems to know how they are called, but everybody seem to know what you mean when describing) that hold the straps together, but wasn't able to find one so far...
But all points you mentioned about your bag would make me mad as well 😅!

I looked for one of those straps/clips for another bag and now I’ve forgotten what it’s called! If I remember I will be sure to let you know! It seems like every two handle tote bag should come with one!

@@Chicprofessor Oh, thank you, I'd love to know!
Yes, you are right; I have two Aspinal of London Florence Snap bags, they came with this clip adjusted. And those were top handle bags, so it was mainly done to hold the shape of the handles, so there is no breakage to be expected too soon. But with shoulder strap bags, it really should be included. It's such a hassle! Sometimes I use this bag when travelling to my parent's home, so I of course do have a suitcase as well. Climbing off a train whilst your suitcase is half way down the stairs of the train, AND your handbag is about to slide down your shoulder is not the most fun experience - and I'm sure it looks pretty awkward, too 🙈😂!

I have seen your review of the Pond La transform tote. I have the classic and legend size of the DD signature tote. How does the Pond La compare in terms of organization (which I love in my Dagne) as well as the structure?

    • @Chicprofessor
      @Chicprofessor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks for watching both! I like the structure much more in the Pond LA tote and really like the backpack option and feeling of the leather. I think the organization is great but the one thing I liked better about the DD organization was the padded water bottle holder. The Pond LA does not have a padded one and the leather flap is on the exterior rather than the interior which I do not prefer. That being said, I haven't had any issues putting my water bottle inside and keeping it upright since I put so much in my bag :)

I had a bought a Dagne Dover bag that was small and folded and had a pen loop in the middle. I don’t remember the name of the bag. When I got it, I was super excited I had wanted to take it on a trip to Florida and wanted something small that I couldn’t stuff too much and so I would not try to carry everything. The bag came and I loved the feel and the color. But there was a key ring inside and the zipper would get stuck and I could not open or close it. I loved it and thought maybe I can cut the ring out and it’ll be ok. But I spent $100 something and cutting off a piece of the bag just seemed ridiculous. So I returned it and I did not purchase any more products. The bags are not cheap and I felt that it should have been better quality. I loved the organization but I can’t seem myself to try out the company again. I’m glad that I didn’t buy any other bags.

Ive had the legend size of this bag since early 2019, and have used it to death. The only issue that mine has is the second shoulder strap falling down. But on the Legend, for me at least, the structure is a rigid as day 1 (and I’m a prof. Too, so I am also carrying around books, laptop, etc... all day every day), and the straps are different so they don’t fall down or crease. All this said, do I LOVE my legend tote.... not really, for some reason, so I dunno. If I find that exact bag in the perfect size, I will buy it hands down, and I am more surprised that purse companies aren’t going flat .
A lot of women carry a lot of stuff, especially teachers and workers and mom, so really just anybody and the last thing we need is a purse strap, digging into our shoulders and sliding off

But I am so tired of carrying four separate bags to work to hold all my things (laptop bag, purse, lunch box, and tote for planner, notebook and other work papers and items). I am looking for a large tote to hold everything with lots of organization so I can easily find things. If the straps are long enough, I don't mind it only have shoulder straps, and would also be fine if it had a handle and shoulder straps. It’s not picky to want a structured bag to hold its structure. I hate wrinkling at the base! Oh and the handle thing. That’s really annoying! Always love your videos Jessica!

Totally justified. Have you tried the Allyn? I was looking at that one because I am also always looking for the perfect work bag. The struggle is real. Mine just happens to include a 13 inch laptop so weight and structure loss is always my number one problem.

I don’t think you’re being picky, especially about a work bag that has to function - doesn’t “particular” sound better? 🤣 If I had a decent setup again, I could make this same video about my MK Jet Set Multifunction (laptop) tote. It’s Crossgrain leather, and has the same sagging corner issues, although I reshape the front corners by stuffing with my mini umbrella and a Chico reusable shopping bag and let the back sag since it’s mostly file folders and a discbound notebook.
I still kick myself because I didn’t notice they used a decorative buckle for the straps not a D ring, so they don’t fold down all the way AND flop over the opening of the bag when I’m trying to get stuff in and out. That’s worse than the stitched handles I see everywhere - they spent money on hardware but not USEFUL hardware.
My other complaint is how thin the straps are for the size of the tote - same strap width as the two smaller sizes, but it’s designed to carry a laptop so it should use a wider strap. The thin straps are showing wear at the buckles, so eventually one of the straps will let go.
Why do I still use this bag? I like the inner organization, and the current trend toward unlined bags with stitched handles would be more annoying.
So I keep a checklist of dealbreaker features, keep looking at bags and watching videos. Keep sharing yours!

Haha, yes- particular does sound better! I would complain about those things, too!
