“Shoreline Rune” (2014) for string orchestra and harp is dedicated to composer Judith Weir on her 60th birthday. A very slow melody unfolds gradually, is broken into segments with interjections, and then reassembled again. The overall pulse is extremely slow-as if one is standing on the shore watching an entire tide cycle compressed into five elongated minutes.
