I thought I posted this when i watched the video when it came out.
The elves in this game are very much based off the Vanir/Aesir of viking mythology; video games like Dominions utilise this form of elves over more Tolkien-esque stuff.
In Tolkien's world, the Vanir/Aesir are creatures like Gandalf and Sauron.
