Have you heard the vocal stylings of 1960s recording artiste Mrs Miller (not to be confused with the pub sing-a-longs of the prodigious pianist Mrs Mills)? Miller's cover of Petula Clark's "Downtown" makes for an easy gateway. It's not entirely clear whether she was in on the gag, having mentioned in an interview that the production team would cue her in on the wrong beat, suggesting deliberate sabotage for further comedic effect. Any road up, it's worth a listen for a little light relief. On that note, go smash one off. You've earned it.

I hadn't, but after listening, what a great example. On the version of Downtown I just heard, she seemed to be struggling to suppress a laugh in parts, which would suggest she had at least a little more self-awareness than say, Florence Foster Jenkins. Thanks for sharing.

@@CowardEdd Intriguing, I'd always read her stalling as an inability to keep up with the words as she read and sang in these cheap one-takes. You may well be right. Of course I bought her debut album "Mrs Miller's Greatest Hits" and it sits proudly somewhere between LCD Soundsystem and Nine Inch Nails on the shelf. Keep doing what you do. Best laughs I've had this week.
