Will , to sort your uneven flooring ply , carefully measure where the joint is and mark , drill & screw from underneath the van . Make sure the screws aren't to long & get someone to stand on the flooring while you're doing it , no visible scew heads in the flooring

The ceiling looks awesome! It's hard to imagine now, but once everything is in, I'm sure you'll love it. It's the best of two worlds - the white gives that fresh, crisp feeling while the natural wood adds texture and pattern. A feeling of nature without the full sauna experience.
The paint colour on the roof is good. It softens things a lot, and you can still see the wood grain. It's subtle, not overstated. Go with it for a bit and see if it grows on you.
I’ve got one of these type of vans , those back door wires are a ball ache. Even with the guides the wires break , I re wired mine with a more flexible wire . The ceiling looks fab , stop overthinking it . Loving the videos … it looks be great when it’s done 👍🏻🤘🏻👍🏻

When your sister was stood outside the van at the back at timing point 15.48 and had the camera pointing upwards towards the ceiling the ceiling whit the thinned white paint on it looks good.
Dont worry about the floor Will. Once you start adding furniture it will pull down, especially if the unit overlaps that join and you screw the furniture to the floor. For future reference always tape joints in plywood to stop it chaffing your flooring. Looking good mate, keep going

Another option is some generic spring wire conduit so it resists bending and move into the door. It might be possible to just put some spring inside the cable protector that is used now. There is cheap flexible drain cleaner and similar tools with spring that should work. Perhaps even a steel wire likely makes it stiff enough but still flexible. No, when I think about it something plastic like a couple of large cable ties in the cable protector likely works fine and reduces the risk of it damaging the wires over time.
Yay. Your sister is correct. Will look great once other finishes and textures in. Also with solid white surfaces can look grubby quickly and with your OCD tendencies think that not good idea. Why didn't you use clear sealant on flooring edges?😎
Will… that floor…. DON’T PUT SCREWS THROUGH IT!!! You just finished sealing it to prevent moisture getting in!! You just said you’d put the screws “under where the units are going to go” so use the weight of the units to hold the floor down flat. If you standing on it pushes it flush then a unit full of stuff will deffo do the trick…. Sometimes doing nothing is the best solution. Just keep building and that crease will disappear all by itself 😃👍
Here's a pro tip that will make your caulking seams look their best... Get a 3/4" steel ball bearing or comparable metric size & glue a small wooden stick or metal rod to it using a small amount of epoxy putty or strong adhesive. I do my own welding so I welded a 1/4" steel rod to mine. Once you lay down the bead of caulk you take the ball bearing & drag it along the seam of caulk from one end to the other. This smooths the caulk evenly & gives it a nice clean curved shape. When done you just wipe off any excess caulk off the tool you made & repeat on the next seam. The 3/4" ball bearing works good for most caulking jobs but if you have to caulk a really thin bead of caulk like in a cabinet you make another tool but use a much smaller ball bearing. It works quick & easy and gives your caulk lines a more professional look. I don't know if they sell tools like this but I saw a DIY one and decided to make my own & it works great. I reapplied some caulk along my bathtub where it meets the wall using this tool and boy did it improve the look.
Yay! I like the color. Looks neutral and soft. Good choice for the ceiling. That way the rest of your buildout will show up better. The ceiling is not the focal point.
Yay!! Worst case scenario you get a free undercote on the rest of the van. (Nay - defo doing ALL the future painting yourself!) . I do quite like it too.
So far, I like it. I think you should wait to do any repainting until the interior is complete. I redid my bathroom and I hung a tawny wood color mirror next to my black faucets/fixtures. I hadn’t painted the walls yet and a hint of the bright turquoise left from the previous owners was coming through. It clashed so much that just that little bit made me think the mirror color was wrong and I hated the mirror. I painted the walls the final color and I’m soooooooo happy I didn’t return the mirror because it was what I had wanted, all put together. The finished product really changes when you have the complete picture. Don’t worry about the paint color right now... it’s a super easy fix if you don’t like it later once everything else is in and complete.
I really like the white, as you said, it can get dark in there, you need lots of light colours, you should do white units also, and IKEA butcher block counters, get the colour from textiles etc. It's really coming on though Will!!
Hey Will. The conduit you used for the back door wiring is fine. If you insert a a wooden bbq skewer (or something similar) to keep it rigid, that should keep it straight to push inside the door as it closes? Try it. You could try a bit of wire or something. All simple & cheap to do. 👍🏼
Drill a hole from under the van larger than a screw, then screw from underneath with weight on the board inside the van to pull the floor down. Just make sure the screws are not too long and poke through the top
I’m a floor layer and my suggestion would be to take the vinyl up slowly so you don’t rip it , (if it will pull up as you did use a lot of glue) drill down the ply that’s sticking up so it’s level then gluing vinyl back down then re sealing it
Will, your van build is amazing and you have inspired me to try urban camping in my Mazda CX 5. Your ceiling is fab. Leave it as it is and once everything is done in the van it will "Pop". Trust me, your sister knows best. Keep up the good work 👏

The more you compact the insulation the less effective it is. I needs the air gaps and voids within the work effectively. When using sealant for edging etc then cut the nozzle at 45’ to get a better seal and look.
Best way to smooth off the silicone is to use a spray bottle with water/fairy liquid mix and spray over the silicone bead then smooth off with a shaped piece of thin wood. Comes up a treat👍
Looks fab! Paint wash is the way to go. Quick to put on.. easy to upkeep and it hides any anomalies because it’s not meant to be a solid coat. Floor could do with a sheet of hardboard over ply that’s in one piece. But that would mean lifting the vinyl. I still think you’ll have the line even if you drill it because even vinyl over tongue and groove laminate shows through and there is barely a join there. I’d buy a non slip rug to match your decor and learn to live with it. Get one of those rubber backed bathroom ones that can be put in the washing machine. Nice on the feet and easy to keep clean x

Looks really good actually. A very subtle texture that will work with almost anything. It's the best of both worlds. The clean white look but still a gentle textured look. Of course, you have to finish the build to really know. You might need to go pure white or a pure dark color depending on the countertop, cabinet and wall color you choose.
Hire a biscuit jointer (and find someone to operate it for you) to join the floorboards together. You'll never get it level any other way as there are no battens underneath. Loving the recent posts all the same.
Hi Will I've just subscribed, I've seen you in a few other vanlifers vlogs. The comedic value in your videos is priceless. Can I give you a tip from a builder? In future so when you do kitchen, when using sealant have cleansing wipes at hand, the wetness and soap in them allow you to smooth off sealant really easily, take a wipe, wrap over your finger, one swipe and uts perfect, can't wait til Neil gets there. For the lip in the vinyl, Cut some small squares out, slightly larger than the screw heads, then once the screws are in, stick the cut out bits back.

Think the white will keep it fresh and light. On gloomy days you'll be pleased and you can bring colour in low level.
