I always fail at painting plastics. I get orange peel or bubbling. I finally found something that works. 1. Wash and degrease plastics 2. Wet sand with 800 grit sandpaper 3. clean with alcohol or prep 4. Spray duplicolor plastic adhesion promoter. 3 light coats. (Follow instructions on can) 5. Duplicolor acrylic enamel *fusion for plastic. 2 light coats followed by 1 medium wet coat. (Follow instructions on can) I finally got a really nice finish. No orange peel, no bubbles. I cant tell you how many times I have tried to get a good finish on plastics. This worked for me. Thank you jesus. I really hope this info saves someone a real headache.
@@juan3212 I believe it was for my raptor 700 grill and gas tank shroud. They held up ok. The only issue I had was getting gas on the shroud. It obviously didn't like that
I'm working on mine now. Made three short videos so far. 1st one is JB plastic weld and scuffing it with red pads. I'm almost ready for the painting, I think.
That’s where people mess up painting plasticsyou need to sand it way more make it very rough then you scotch bright it and then bull dog it then your base coat them sand and base coat again then top coat and then a couple clear coats that’s the correct way so it don’t chip up months later and actually last long time
could you go through what grit you used for the sanding of the plastics? the process you exactly did to paint them? i have to paint mine again tomorrow if you could tell me what products you used that be great!!! thank you!!
Couple of tips, bro. Exhaust recon. $20 Harbor freight gravity fed sand blaster and $8 of 100 grit media. 15 minutes done. Get a gas powered 3000 PSI pressure washer. The electric one that you have just won't give you the best results. Forget the Scotch pad. 1/4 sheet power sander. 220 grit to 320 grit. Wipe clean with acetone. Ready for paint.
Great content and outstanding editing! You’ve gained a subscriber! You can easily tell how much time and effort you put into your videos. By far some of the best editing I’ve seen on TH-cam! Keep up the great work!
I want a scrambler 400 2 stroke. I want it bright yellow with a black racing stripe. I’d call it the” hornets 🐝 nest” lol. Not sure how to paint plastics but that’s why im here 👍🏼
How is the pint holding after 3years? Need to paint my brute force and wana do quality long lasting work. Before i did plastidip but it $uck$ can’t clean it mud left heavy stains. And it stars bublong and peeling...
Your videos are amazingly edited! Remember meeeee!!!!!!! I know you are going to be BIG on TH-cam. I’m 16 and I’m a mechanic so if you need help with anything let me know.
10 minutes wasted listening to someone talk about nothing I care about just to realize I didn't find out how to paint plastics..... As the title promised I would 😵
I used rustoleum universal primer, it’s like professional grade, at least that’s what it says on the can. It worked quite well stuck pretty good on the plastic. I’m sure etching primer would work as well.
Don’t paint your plastics it will crack and look shit please please please sand them with 180 grit up to 5000 grit then polish them with a grinder and lambs wool polishing mop and plastic polishing compound they will look shinier than when they left the factory

I used a really light flap wheel to clean my exhaust back up on my rincon. I'm still in the process of the restore. I got it in pretty bad shape
Great vid
Did you use any sort of clear coat to go over your paint job?? Or was your paint chip / scratch proof after is cured??

I LOVE fast-forward for videos like this.... just do the work, we don't need the commentary for every little thing...
What was your sanding process for the plastics
1500 or you'll see scratches from hell

Why would you not just weld up those holes in the exhaust?
Because I’m not a welder and don’t have a welder. This is still holding up and it’s been over a year soo..
I’m doing it to a Grom haha
1500 or you'll see scratches from hell 😊
Lost me when you said jb weld

Don’t use regular paint it chips and cracks after it flexes, use a rubber based paint like bed liner or plasti dip
