Bought this one new in 1991 and took it backpacking through 15 countries in Europe and Morocco as I didn't want to risk taking my good cameras, staying in hostels etc. Think I still have it in storage but that's 5,000 miles away. Hope to retrieve it and my old film negs and Kodachrome and Ektachrome slides one day. Will have a huge scanning project to do...:)
I bought mine in the navy, took it to the north pole, great little camera. I put a lithium 123 battery in it around 2004 and just took the camera off the shelf last week, says fully charged. I'm going to take it to Vietnam on several work trips this year with kodak 400TX Black and White, can't wait!
@@markbernhardt6281 That's awesome! I recommend to do a test roll or two before your trip. I can't count how many times I've found an old gem only to have it "retire" on me after a few rolls...Good luck!
Love this little camera. Always gives me good results on every picture. Ive tried both the mju 2/stylus epic and yashica t4, which are both supposed to be "better" or at least more hyped, but i found myself getting better results with the mju 1 than both of those actually, at least just as good as them. Also i bought the mju 1 for like 4$ at a thriftshop, will probably never sell it!
I just found mine in a box at my moms house. She bought it for me new when I was 12 years old back in 1992 (give or take). Popped a battery in it and it still works!
If you're looking for simply optical quality, the same lens was packaged into so many Olympus point and shoots. AF-1, AF-10 super etc. The mju series has a real hipster tax on it and is like the Canon AE1 - enormous supply, but its the only one named when recommending. Price is double what it should be at most considering you can buy many, many, MANY more capable cameras for a significantly smaller price.
i love my Olympus Infinity Stylus. It fits is a pants pocket and takes amazing photos. I particularly like it on the street where it's small and inconspicuous. Load it up with HP5 and go to town.
Bought and resold several of these about 10 years ago paid about 5 bucks a piece. Sold them for like 25 bucks, sold several mju 2s for somewhere between 50 and $70 I didn't even bother with the ones that had a zoom. I still have an Olympus XA 3 with the flash that looks brand new that I bought and it still has a sticker on it $4.99 I got pretty excited when I saw they were going on eBay for $150 or more. I bought and resold dozens of Point and shoot cameras and I never paid more than 10 bucks for them at the most. Guess those were the good old days.
Bought this camera when it first came out. It's in a top drawer with a half used roll of film in it from easily 15 years ago. Will have to use the rest of the film next time out shooting and see what's on the first half of the roll as I've now long forgotten!
Wow! My first real camera I bought in 1999 sophomore year! It was on clearance for like $25 Took it on a school trip to DC…but my little brother lost it soon after that…I’m still mad at him for that lol
MJU I price is raising as over $100 on eBay, and over $300 for mju ii. I got one from Japan and it's relax to play as point and shot which compare to my om-1 :)
MJU Crew! My MJU 2 is the ultimate "cant be bothered" camera when I at least still want that film quality. Also with that built in flash it's the only film camera I actually use with flash at night. The only problem I have with it is a fault of my own in that move around too much while shooting it so sometimes my shots come out blurred. Otherwise it's a trooper and I wont be fazed if I break it or spill beer on it!
I love this camera also. I have had it misfocus when I tried to shoot a couple with it. It focused on the tree right in back of it. One of these that I had quit hitting focus all together. I think the there is a light that helps it focus that quit working. I have four more that I picked up free and cheap however some years ago.
I had the Olympus Infinity Mini which, if I'm not mistaken, has the same lens as yours. It was mint. I never got around to shooting a roll through it cause I replaced the alkaline batteries with NiMH batteries. I went to take a shot and when the flash went off, it made a really loud pop. Yup, that was the end of that.
I picked this up for 75 cents 10 years ago at some old thrift store. No idea why they had it for so cheap but it's the closest thing I'll have to hitting the lotto.
I just started shooting the Olympus Acurra 105. It has the 38-105mm lens. I am super surprised how sharp this lens is. I got it for free in my moms old storage boxes :)
I just got one at Savers Thrift Shop last week. Whoever priced it I don't think know what it was. It was in a bag hanging in bag by the alarm clocks. I think I paid $7 for it. I already had the stylus Epic camera with zoom lens. I'm looking forward to trying out this one. Strange they would call red eye reduction Auto S. Her when I press the shutter in that mode testing it by recognize the rapid flash and knew exactly what it was.
Hello! Probably nobody is going to see the comment, but as a first filmcamera now, would you recommend this or the Kodak H35? Can’t decide if a new or old is better choice and which one is better quality! - would thank a lot for an answer:) Liked the video a lot!
I think this one is more versatile for sure, but the H35 is going to be a lot cheaper and give you twice the amount of photos for the money. The photos from the Olympus are going to be of a much higher quality though in terms of exposure and sharpness. Hope that helps!
I just found this camera at the thrift store for $10 along with another Olympus stylus zoom 105 also for $10. They both seem to be working so I'm so excited to try these out. The only difference with the Olympus Stylus is it has a quartz date and a mode button that I haven't seen on other people's cameras. I couldn't really find much information on the zoom 105 but I'm curious which one is better / which one I should try out first. If anyone has any information I'd love to hear it. Thanks!
idk if mine still working I just found it last day on our "things don't use anymore" AREA lol and I asked my grandpa where he got this and he just said that he found it on street :< So yeah idk how to use this and if it's still working 😭
Luckily I found a silver shiny limited version of mju1. Played with almost all different p&s cameras among $10-$1500, pretty satisfied with the mju series. And considering the price, mju1 is a better choice over mju2 since I cant really tell the difference between their lens. Both shitty, but after all, p&s cameras are all shitty. Whats important is the aesthetic design and how it feels. Love your vids, benj.
I have a Mju I. Unfortunately it has some battery issues (the camera never switches off, so the battery drains all the time). Some heavy vignetting (which I don‘t really mind), but also misses focus in busy scenes. For the money it is a nice camera if it works, but not the most reliable one.
do you think shooting porta 400 is overkill with a point and shoot like this? i've only shot kodak gold and c200 so far and im not sure if it's worth paying the price of porta
got mine today for freaking free!! bc it has a tiiny crack between the frame and the backpart, worst case all my photos are useless :/ anyone wouöd know a solution to this?

Loved the vid and hearing how you specifically use it. Gonna try and pick a second one up before that price spikes 😅
I never understand the people who are willing to pay the high prices for a plastic point and shoot camera that can easily break on you.

Good question, but yes, I VERY rarely will put Portra into a point and shoot. It’s almost always Gold, UltraMax, or ColorPlus.
