After watching to the first video I found. I just assumed he had 500 K to 1 million subscribers. He definitely deserves them and I hope he gets them.
30K people who appreciate intelligent & well researched material. His water series is very profound. It never clicked to me that water was one of the main constituents in the Ice Giants, much more than earth. He also pointed out that water may be one of the most common compounds in the universe because it's elemental parts are so common. I never heard it put this way by anybody else.
This channel gets me so hype every time you drop a video. This channel is absolutely something special. You have a one of a kind way of telling the story of science and it's absolutely delectable.

For the past year I have been on an youtube odyssey to learn about the universe. When I thought I have seen all the great content, I am proven wrong. You are a gem. This is what youtube should be. You let the amazing topics tell their story, while your narration explains even the most difficult concepts with the perfect amount of dry humor.
Your Channel will grow immensly. When clickbait and shallow entertainment will eventually be seen for what it is, channels like yours will shine like a neutron star.

So I came away from Leonard Susskind's Lecture 2 .on General Relativity having finally grasped what a tensor is! On about the fifth visit! But my head hurt. I'd saved yours up for a bit of relaxation. No way! The density of hard factual and anecdotal information this time is phenomenal. The amount of work you put into these things puts you head and shoulders above the competition. I'm going to have to goof out elsewhere :)

I think Gaia also found a Star had passed us around 2 million years ago and that it would take around 2 million years for the disturbed Oort comets to travel to us. Just mentioning it for added reference if it is true.

This is my first ParallaxNick experience, and I am so impressed with the veracity, depth and breadth index of the content, and the beauty of the writing. Browsing through even a dozen comments shows that this is a well-attended, much-admired series; it’s so reassuring to me that in these dark days for deliberative logic, empirical evidence and critical inquiry, tens of thousands, or millions, of intelligent Americans still love science. And Nick, along with Cool Worlds, are like ambrosia for us!
My love of great metaphors is hinting that tides maybe work better than the river, I feel, for this video. The river is a great metaphor for the life sciences-evolution, speciation, human progress, cultural tributaries, the flow of history, etc.
Coincidentally, the sphere, so iconic in cell biology-fusion of conception, fission of meiosis, mitosis and reproduction, invagination, germination and proliferative radiation-is a great recurring metaphor for its sister-earth science-given the shapes and processes ubiquitous in both astronomy and particle physics-accretion by gravitation or electron shell nesting, cumulative conglomeration in star and planet formation, the inevitability of angular momentum, atomic fusion/fission, stellar explosion, disintegration, new element diasporization and eventual reconstitution, etc.
Both realms-the spheres of matter and rivers of vitality-boil down to, and emerge from, cycles. And cycles are both linear and arcuate-especially the pre-eminent, defining cycle, the spiraling helix, the “incarnation” of meta-matter-DNA-the architectural integration of matter generating information to generate matter.

Nick, I love your channel, and you deserve more subscribers.
That said, I am noticing a certain amount of distortion on your voice. This distortion is often due to a gain setting somewhere in there, often on the microphone pack (if you're using one of those), or in the gain setting for the mic channel coming into the mixer. People sometimes use the gain setting as a volume control, but that's not what you want. Gain controls the intensity of the input, whereas volume controls your output. If the gain is too high, it will overwhelm everything downstream of it cause distortion that send impossible to get rid of. (This is largely how Jimi Hendrix got his distinctive distorted guitar sound, by over cranking the gain knob)
Try rolling the gain on your mic back a bit, and balancing your volume output for the individual audio channel instead. Again, awesome channel, awesome videos!
Thank you so much for properly describing tidal forces. I dont know why but hearing some talking head mainstream scientist describe it as the moons gravity lifting the oceans water really ticks me off.
22:00 "An object must pass sufficiently close to the sun to produce a coma....." I would think that anything getting close enough to a star would eventually melt and begin losing material.

One quick add - not sure what software you are using but you can download Reaper digital audio workstation for free. You can also download free limiter and compression plug-ins (many actually come with it) so that when you do your voice-overs and correction the end result is all at the same volume and intensity. Of course you could add other effects as well if you were of a mind. Free and easy tools if you are interested.
