I love Bentley Absolute. The best description I've heard is it smells like the Lumber Department at Home Depot, and it absolutely does.
Hey AC. I blind bought this one almost a year ago and have used it for work, casual in the fall, winter daytime. I, too prefer Encre Noire A L'Extreme, but I do heart the ginger, rest of note tree in Absolute. The scent description is at your usual detailed yet efficient high level - yep, that's what it was: "biscuit-iness". I trust you and big populations of fragrantica users who give Absolute decent marks for longevity at least. I, like you, don't experience much projection. I get anosmia with this one, based on the hallway silage test, but the scent I do smell is great. Another great review. Keep meaning to make a "great slick editing and camera work," joke, but I wouldn't want it taken wrong way (I do like many reviewers who emphasize the camera work and / or obviously chop many takes together. It takes lots of prior hard work, passion to pull off your reviews the way you do; gives them style. Cheers.
Michael, that review was after 12 hours of full days work and 2 hours of commute back home. I do all my videos in one take and have minimum editing if at all, i used to add music and now I don't even do that , reason, people want to watch my views on fragrances not my cinematographic skills plus I have very little time after a full days work :)

The more you wear it the more it grows on you. I gifted it to one of my friends because he really loved it and 1 month later I found myself craving for it so I bought another bottle. Thank you for the beautiful description.
I cannot sum it up in words of how wonderful this fragrance is. The projection isn't there but oh man... this is the scent that I surely want to be remembered by.

I am happy I have made a blind by on this one. For me, it stays close to the skin rather early, but smells amazing. So, I share your opinion on this one.

This scent is so incredible. I wish I had discovered it sooner. I will not be replacing some of my oud and vetiver scents as they run out. This is a great combination of both of those worlds.

Thank you Leeroy, I am glad you pointed that. You know its important to do a good mix and more importantly full reviews. I know lists get more views but full reviews truly help people with their purchase decision IMHO.
Im buying that one blindly. I like all of fragances that he did. Short projection time fragances are more for closed doors (small rooms), intemate interactions (or 30 min quickies before it dies) and for ourselves (better spray on the arms for this).
hopefully the lack of projection isn't an issue :)

Great review. I agree with you about this fragrance. Great scent but I had to put out a missing fragrance alert after wearing it for 10 minutes.
Hahaha yes, first few wears were sheer disappointment but then I tried my formula and it seems ok now.

@@ACSmellsGood I got Azzaro Visit and used it for a while. The Cardamom in Azzaro killed the heart of the scent for me. Its good but does not give the same vibe as absolute. Thanks for the suggestion though.
I absolutely love absolute. I will wear this just so I can smell it on myself all day. But for some reason the women in my family don't care for it I don't get it because I'm in love with this scent. It is so uniquely different and addictive.

I just bought a bottle having read reviews that it smells similar to Gucci Pour Homme. It's does bear a similarity - like a weaker version, but it's not as intense. But it's a good substitute especially when you consider the insanely inflated price of the discontinued GPH.
This one is doesn't develop much for me but I love it. It reminds me of tumulte by Christian lacroix but tumulte is superior. Excellent review.

Glad you reviewed this one AC. I'm on my second bottle now.. really like it. Like Encre Noire, definitely a rainy day scent for me. I love the ginger note, I feel like the Gingerbread Man wearing this one.. lol! Good value for money again, like all the Bentley line. 👍
The gingerbread man made me laugh, you are right it is a bit like that and one who trades in Olibanum I suppose :) Good scent though !

I've been contemplating purchasing this juice, I think I'll wait a while & grab a decant of the Comme Des Garcons Man 2 instead. Your final thoughts on the fragrance helped me decide. Although it sounds intriguing I'm going to pass on anything that doesn't have at least good projection. I wear my scents as an expression of self and this doesn't seem like anyone would get it. Thanks

Great review as always AC, I had this one, it’s very nice but you’re right in saying it’s difficult to know where to wear it.
It smells like a dressed up fragrance but because the projection is a bit lacking I would opt for something that performs better on those occasions.
I agree Jon, I would say Encre Noir a L'Extreme or Montale Greyland and if budget allows then CdG Man 2 is the best :)

I have a number of fragrances that for some critical reason just fall short of being outstanding. Xeryus Rouge springs to mind (along with all my Penhaligons lol). Fine review.

I'm seemingly one of the few who's not a fan of Bentley Intense but this sounds good, thinking of blind buying this or Encre Noire a L'Extreme (I like Encre Noire), which do you suggest?

Can't find anyone to compare Bentley against Le Labo Santal 33 (when 1st can out "hamster cage").
Note: never smelled Bentley nor Santal 33. I have Gucci ph i and hate it in the winter (peppered vanilla) just like I hate TF Oud Wood in the winter.
Anyways, what's different between Santal 33 and Bentley, besides pickles/incense, are they both just cedar shavings hamster/pencil to novice?

Hello AC, i want to shared my story. One day my wife put this fragrance on her by coincidence, at first she want to put her favorite armaf club de nuit intense for woman, but somehow she accidentally pick this one from the closet.
Suprisingly, she like this fragrance, and told me she smells something sweet comes from it.
Dear lord, my nose only picks woodsy notes and insensce, a very2 dry woodys notes to be honest.
And.. to add some confusion in my head, when she enter the car, the smells of this bentley absolute fills the entire car, i didnt ask how much she putt this on herself, but after 4-5 hours latter when we meet up again, it stills wafting and leaving scent trail like nobody bussiness. Maybe there is some notes that more preceptible by female than male. And after that moment i realize that this fragrance is better smells from far, and it did prejecting and wafting without i ever realizing it before.
That was a fantastic story, I loved reading it. This fragrance is such a nice fragrance it is a joy to wear indeed.

I don't agree with your estimation that it's inferior to CdG Man 2 or Encre Noire l'Extreme; it's just different to these two. A bit more minimalist and brooding, exuding a dark elegance, in the same vibe as French Lover by Frederic Malle.
Are these Bentley perfume lines found in Duty free ? Like in Dubai & Asian airports ?
Not very sure mate, but they are quite affordable so you could try your favorite online shop.

I love Encre Noir Al'Extreme,Zadig& Voltaire This is him,but i dont like Bentley for man Intense at all.All are made from mrs.Lorson
But im sure i need to try Absolute.
Tiziana Terenzi Laudano nero,Gucci intense Oud....thats the type of scent that i prefer in colder days.

Stoyan, I would love to mate, but its so bloody cold here you won't believe. We are hosting the cricket world cup and 3 games have been washed out straight , its been raining non stop all week and to top that we have winds 35 mph... its morose mate. None of the summer scents smell as they should so I am delaying my summer list by at least 2 weeks, fingers crossed it will be hot and sunny soon.

One of the most beautiful men's fragrances. Unfortunately, it is necessary to speak about it ..... it is an eau de parfum with the durability of eau de toilette. Two, max. Three hours and after the fun. It is wonderful, but I was disappointed by the poor durability: / Think carefully before buying.
... some frags are the same as a dress for a naked king from fairytale... Never should buy this one... Writing with a high respect to AC...

I am sorry to say, this fragrance literally smells like ayurvedic medicine powder. Smell first and buy. Big no for me. I can't call this as a fragrance. I just hate this.
