Thank you for posting. I had a very very hard time getting the light off the driver's side. It was not as simple as you showed. I pulled and even hit it with a rubber mallet multiple times and harder than I thought I should. It wouldn't budge for about 15 minutes. After praying a lot it finally came off.
Thank you. I got pulled over tonight and I told the officer I am headed straight to autozone to buy new tail lights and they will be replaced tonight. He actually followed me most of the way. I was not joking. It beats getting stopped again!! This was harder than on my old hhr but really easy when I saw how it was done so we replaced both sides at the same time. I spend more time replacing lights in this dam van than I do washing it!
Thanks for the video! The left brake bulb was actually 7443. Not 7440. The auto store told me 7440 is single filament, and 7443 is dual. I checked the bulb that came out of my Honda, and it was 7443
Thanks, Blu! Watching your video earlier today made it a CINCH to replace the lower and HI brake lights on my wife's Odyssey. Right now, I was able to get the 921 (high-mounted) and 7440 (both Sylvania Long Life 2-packs) bulbs for the online price of $2.02 and $3.47!!! If you go in and have searched out Wal-Mart's online price--just show it to customer service (I was able to do it in the auto section). The regular prices are $5.99 and $4.48, so I grabbed TWO of the 7440!!! Autozone wanted something like $7.99 for the 7440. Now, my family can ride around MUCH more safely!
I found it very informative. I changed the Brake lights myself after watching. It save me a few dollars, and I don't have to go to the Dealer or Maint shop to replace them. Thanks.😊😊👍👍
2:00 The recommendation for using gloves to handle light bulbs only applies to high temperature quartz halogen bulbs. It does not apply to glass bulbs.
Thank you for addressing the LED aspect of the tail light. My 2014 tail light is different than every other video I've seen that shows two bulbs without the LED part. So mine is the same as yours. It must have changed when they did the 2014 minor update to the Odyssey.
It’s 2021 & this is the 1st time a bulb has had to be replaced. A lot of dirt/grit has built up along/inside the seam coming down from the slot. Wiggling the cover didn’t work. (It did wiggle loose where screws came out). We used a very small flat screwdriver to help pop the cover off. Be very gentle working it down the seam so you don’t scratch the paint. Make sure you wipe off the area along the panel & cover meet to eliminate the dirt/grit.
Hi, thank you for this video, it was very helpful on how to get to the bulbs. The 2012 model actually only has 2 bulbs on the brake/turn signal assembly. So instead of 7440 bulbs, 2012 owners should be looking for 7443 bulbs.
Thanks for the instructions! On my 2013 Honda Odyssey, it was _really_ hard to pull the light fixture off of the back of the car (shown at 1:23 in your video). My teenager and I pulled and pulled and nothing happened. Then we realized we weren't pulling hard enough. The black rubber pegs that hold it to the car body can be quite tight.
The lens does not pop out easily, unless it's been out before. On my 2011 Odyssey it was extremely hard to remove. I finally got an approx 1/2" plastic rod (to not scratch the paint) and put its tip against the *outer* forward edge of the lens assembly. Right where your left thumb is at 1:28 in the video. On the edge of the red plastic - *not on the black plastic* deeper in the channel / closer to the car body. Then I hit the rod with a rubber mallet until the lens popped out. If you seat the rod too deep into the channel, on the black plastic seal / support piece, you'll break that. Don't ask me how I know this. I put some lithium grease on the snap-in pins so maybe it will be easier next time.
I used to have a 2017 Honda Odyssey Touring so same design but sadly we had to get rid of it. It kept having ignition coil problems. We have a 2023 Honda Pilot now.
What is that wire above the reverse light? And also how do we replace the bulb for the strip light that goes across your trunk door near the license plate
There are two push-pin clips that cause the resistance you're feeling. You'll need to wedge a PLASTIC trim removal tool between the headlight case and body, and carefully pry it toward the back of the van.
Thanks for mentioning how, for the LED inner rear tail light assembly, the whole assembly needs replacement. That and the part numbers really helped me. For anyone needing to do that inner rear tail light assembly replacement, I found this video which shows how to do that without removing the whole cover inside the trunk door th-cam.com/video/taPVCIBS2gQ/w-d-xo.html (other videos show lots more work).

Was at the Honda Dealer they wanted $34.75 to replace bulb
If you put an LED 3rd brake lamp, it has polarity. If it doesn't work, turn it around and try again.

Thank you for this video!🙏 Saved me 100 dollars for 2 min of work. I replaced the whole casing.
Thanks for including the part numbers for the bulbs in the description.

I have the same issue and how did you make it to take it off.
Same here. Any tips?
Honestly, we just pulled hard. It’s on with almost a suction effect.
Thanks this really helped me out so much 😊
Wish I could give you multiple thumbs up. Thanks so much for making this video. So helpful.
Good video, would've liked to see before and after shots.

Do you know where the turn signal relay is on the odyssey i have a 2013 odyssey touring and have no idear where it could be.
I have a 2011 Odyssey Touring, I have a broken rear washer hose that need to be replaced, how do I show you a picture of it?
This helped a lot thanks!
Thank u! Super easy
That's good stuff thanks👈🏾🤙🏽
Removed the screws, lens wont slide out. Afraid of breaking it. Suggestions? DW 40 ?
They make a tool for that. It’s basically a plastic wedge that you use to pry it out from the back side of light assembly where it meets the body.
Mine won’t come out either. Did figure this out? I have a 2014.

thank you so much
How to remove/replace the red center strip between the two tail lights? Do you know the Honda part number? 2016 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite.
This is also my question. How can I make that big long bar-thing light up?
The clip in the middle won't disconnect on mine.
is there a third brake light LENSE part#? Can this be replaced by itself or I have to replace the whole unit?...2015 Honda Odyssey Touring/Elite.
What to do if the assembly won't slide out?
Hey thx!!! BIG help bro.
thank you
Third brake light bulb size?
My brake on the 2013 was 7443 not the presented 7440
Those are JIC Cross Slot Screws not Phillips head on the screws.
You skipped the other rear tail lights that don’t twist?
Hello how can I turn on the red bar that is covering the trunk? Please someone
Not sure you can turn it on lol.
I was curious about this too. Mine only comes in with the key fob unlock and locking.
Your odyssey? Looks like you got a family now lol
ROFL! This is my parent's car.
I LOVE IT! Wear gloves, HAHAHA.
