Yes!!! I heard it the first time when it came out and I thought “oh Dave what’s happened”, then heard I again and loved it! Then my husband dedicated it to me for our anniversary this August so yeah...I love this!
Better late than never... Thankyou simsons re-run, Thankyou Google, Thankyou you tube, Thankyou Dave Matthews band. Awesome track. 😍 I will never tire of listening to this,
I love this. Dave Matthews Band continues to evolve and always sound fresh. Such talented musicians. Thank you for enlightening my soul with another new fantastic album. You never let me down with that sound...
I guess 439 people don't appreciate hearing one of the greatest Lyricist of our time go back in the studio and just have a good time and make a fun song purely out of their love for music.
Wow some fans are so spoiled....by the best band the world has ever heard. Imagine trying to follow some of the material they've created in the past. I actually appreciate this song here because it's different and something new. As artists, it's gotta be hard to keep writing new music for as long as DMB has, let alone tour. So grateful for this band and so many of the fans too. The world is literally a better place with DMB
This is brilliant. First of all, Dave's vocals are number one here. We are blessed with his ability to sing different and perhaps "not good" and this is when the magic happens. He is telling a story. Put on some headphones and listen to all of the pieces and parts. Again, it's pretty magical.
a "true" dmb fan? what does that even mean? so I'm not a true dmb fan for being critical on one song? i think a "true" fan gives honest feedback and doesn't get on the band wagon for just any song he releases just because it is dave and 98 percent of his music is unique and beautiful. this guitar riff is very basic for Dave as he is really intricate in most of his music. and the vocals are not great either compared to his other songs. even his other new song samurai cop is amazing with great vocals. he just dropped the ball on thus track
Pretty funky. I can dig it. It's not something I typically expect from my dudes, but it's different enough to be appreciated. I highly advise people complaining about this song to do some review of what's gone on with the band in the last decade. Is it that big a deal that they're trying different things? Is it not okay for their sound to evolve with time? Sure, it's fine if you grow tired of it and just aren't into it anymore, but to shit on them because they aren't the magnum opus of the late 90's is just crass. I'd consider this a treat to those who don't get to see the band live. Dave's wacky, and humorously pitchy vocals is a testament to the live shows. He's free-wheeling it with a beat, and it turned out to sound pretty groovy. This seems like it was meant to be just that, a break from the usual that is short, sweet, just punchy enough to be a head-bobber, and in my estimation, a segue to a great follow-on song. Thumbs up!
NDFOOTBALL what is the jelly in the belly album? I have no idea what your talking about there. Also have you not heard the last 2 albums? 2009s Big Whiskey and 2012s Away. From The World? Those were teo of the bands best albums ever and most certainly showed that their best days were in fact NOT behind them. This album tho, i feel was a major flop.
At first listen I seriously did not like this album at all. Felt like it was a total throwaway, low energy and nothing that will stick to bring DMB back to getting a bit of mainstream attention again. Now after hitting 3 shows this summer, and especially during SPAC weekend while it was on during the day when we were just hanging out at camp... it clicked for me and grew on me more than I had expected. Actually is a really solid album with some soulful melodies, but you just have to listen at the right times or w/ the right people and see the (newest) songs live in person. In the end, although I think DMB's 25+ years of excellence deserves more attention, I'm happy to just have this band as our own little thing that most people know OF, but they don't know what they're missing by writing them off without really giving it a chance.
This band has challenged me for 20 years, with each album. Every time they drop a new one there are a few tunes that grow on me over time. Their music is in a constant fluctuation between tasteful complexity and utter simplicity, and as a musician I can appreciate that dichotomy. People complained about Everyday, they complained that their favorite tunes weren't on Busted Stuff, they took issue with Stand Up for almost every track, people liked Big Whiskey a little more (even though they complained about the name at first), and generally people liked AFTW, even though many still complained about Mercy incessantly. The fact is this: DMB has always pushed their fans' buttons, and I'm glad they continue to do so. I'm looking forward to cracking this album open.
Kevin Barnett - I did not...like I said, I really don't follow the band anymore. I saw they debuted it in Atlanta and I had never heard of it, which is what eventually brought me to this page to give it a listen. I had seen that they just released this as a single as well. So my thoughts were directed towards their decision to release this particular cut of the track on the record AS WELL as a single. DMB is always a better live act anyway of course. It just baffles me because as I mentioned before, IMO it's just not good and quite frankly, disappointing to me that the reality of DMB is that this is what we're gonna get from them.
I like this one a lot! Some of the newer songs have been just okay for me upon first listen, then grew on me, but I loved this one right away. Simple song with slightly African dance-y vibe and some great vocals.
Apparently I'm the only DMB fan here. Thank you so much for coming to Washington! I have been to tons of concerts and up until Wednesday night Phish at the gorge and 311 at red rocks had always held top spot. You sir have replaced both as the best fucking show I have ever been to! I will definitely be seeing DMB in the near future.
Guys... this is what Dave sounds like all the time! Obviously whoever is caught off guard doesn't listen to live recordings much. I like the less edited sound! It sounds different, but still great!
Damn that’s a lot of dislikes coming from Dave fans...that being said, I actually like this more than anything from the last album. I like the absurdity of it.
My first listen, I was skeptical and actually pretty averse to the uneven tones he uses here, but then I listened to it a second time, third time, again and again (no pun intended), and I love, love, love this song. Still making great music. What an album!

Beautiful song, deep from Dave's soul. I dedicate this song to my girl. Those who hate this 1. Don't have a significant other, or 2. Don't appreciate the one they have. This song makes me wanna dance silly and smile. Thank you, Dave. Also. I can hear a That Girl is You>> You Might Die Trying>> Halloween trio on tour. This would be beautiful.
I LOVE the groovy beat and cannot wait to see this one live in Chicago and at the Hollywood Bowl. To the haters, does it make you feel good to be negative? I don't get it...just don't reply and don't go to the shows. Those of us that truly appreciate DMB will have more room to dance.
Just because we don’t like the song doesn’t mean we don’t truly appreciate the band. They have been my favorite band for 20 years since I was 10 years old and still are. Doesn’t mean I have to like a song they put out because of this.
Again...I was just upset by the super negative comments...I totally get it if people don't like the song...of course we are not going to like all of them...I would just rather be uplifted by positive comments.
I fell in love with this song and "She" when I first heard them. To the people who don't like this song I'm perplexed because there are so many beautiful things about this song that I love and the melody is beautiful. It kinda makes me think some people either don't have good taste or maybe just closed minded. I'm sure there were people who didn't like The Stone at first and look at how glorious that song is today. I just don't understand how people could say they don't like his work when he's an amazing artist at pretty much everything he does in life. Some people just don't realize what's good when it's put in front of them and that's a loss. All I could think about when I first heard this song was dancing with a beautiful skirt on and feeling beautiful. I absolutely love it and I'm so thankful he put the hard work and love into bringing this song to life.
Alot of fans will relate, that when they first herd this band they didnt know what to make of what they were hearing. This song gives me the same feels. They are geniuses realesing this.
you said it yourself - we're all entitled to our own opinions. many of us think it's not good. according to your logic, that should be ok that we feel that way
I can see why the first reaction would be to criticize this, or that, in a world where everything is programmed to the Millisecond, every vocal auto-tuned. This is a statement and I personally loved it! It’s a journey, it’s raw, it’s honest and it’s REAL. Dave is finally back onto something. Perfect imperfection.
First listen ... and I have to say I'm kinda likin' it ... makes me want to do the summer eyes closed, arms swaying, hips swaying thingy that I do when I'm feeling a nice chill groove :) What's with all the "stay the same as you were 20 years ago" thing anyway? Evolution is natural ... lets just roll with it
To love someone so entirely that at any moment youre willing to give it all away just to, no matter how short a time, bring the faintest smile on thier face, then you know what absolute love is. Time looses all its power 20 years ago seems like yesterday. That smile, that sparkle as if god opened the heavens and let only his light touch you, thats what i see every time i see you...my heart, my life, my love, my wife❤💘❤
Remember the vibe that away from the world had? That album was way softer than any of their stuff before. This song, and oh joy begin, is lyrically strategic, soft but also gritty enough to be Dave Matthews Band. I'm very excited for the rest of the album and I'm very thankful for them not just falling into the rustic theme of modern alternative that was originally made popular by bands like this one. As someone who has enjoyed every song they've produced since the day I was born, this one is no exception.
There's something primitive about this little tune that I like. The groove and guitar riff are both nice, though I think a Jeff Coffin flute or penny whistle solo could have complemented it nicely. I've listened to a lot of Dave's music in my life, but this is the first time he's ever reminded me of Tom Waits. I think this could grow on me.
Can't believe people are complaining the vocals are 'too raw'. Raw vocals is what's so great about it. Having imperfections in your recording is what's exciting. Music isn't perfect. It's filled with angst and it's moody and unpredictable. People like distortion, noise, and raw vocals because the feel is there. What did you want him to do, autotune it T-pain style with some chipmunk delays?
deadstar21 agreed. So many haters of the last 5 albums use the argument that the first 3 sounded as they sounded live. I think they've returned to that rawness and wouldn't you know it! Haters still be hating 😂

I had to find out the name of this song after watching Marge and Homer dancing to it and it's Dave!

Typical of many DMB songs....you have to listen to the song a few times and then you're hooked! Musical Genius!
Have to agree, it truly grew on me, they need to extend the horn solo though
This song kicks ass! Why is everyone hating on it? Love the grit in Daves voice and the acoustic bass
Let me be honest, The Simpson's brought me here, and Im better off for it 😁✌

I love it and I love that they weren’t afraid to keep it bare. I love how Dave drifts in and out of his falsetto and raspy voice.
And that's oh so raw and sexy!!!!

Man so many of us came here because of a cartoon that made us melt and had to know who sang this amazing song!!! Another one for Homer & Marge
This is brilliant.
First of all, Dave's vocals are number one here. We are blessed with his ability to sing different and perhaps "not good" and this is when the magic happens. He is telling a story.
Put on some headphones and listen to all of the pieces and parts.
Again, it's pretty magical.
I don't see why all the complaints??!! 🤤 Listen to the range of his voice and the guitar!! Maaaaaaaan! It's so hot! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Just bad ass! A true DMB fan never questions such things. I F'n Love It!

I'm just sorry you don't understand. I hope you will one day.
Best track on this album.
Thumbs up!
Thomas I freaking ❤❤❤it!!!!
To each his own, i love Dave, have for years. Shit happens! Hell, cant be perfect all the time.

Never, ever ceases to amaze me the talent these Kings have.
This band has challenged me for 20 years, with each album. Every time they drop a new one there are a few tunes that grow on me over time. Their music is in a constant fluctuation between tasteful complexity and utter simplicity, and as a musician I can appreciate that dichotomy. This is the DMB 4.0 version of "Pay for what you get or "Let you down". It's pure, raw, and emotional. It's short and simple and that's the point.
The same people who love the howling on Halloween hate this. Open your ears and mind and appreciate the quiet feeling this song brings.
Please don’t compare this song to the brilliance of those songs. Thanks ✌️

How do you do

You're there

What's the game
Oh, Hallelujah
I saw a girl
And the way she moved
It changed the way
I see the world
That girl is you
And this is for real

Oh, Hallelujah

the simpsons brought me here
me too. I just had to look it up
me too
Same
👍🏽
Holy crap. Me too!!!
Alot of fans will relate, that when they first herd this band they didnt know what to make of what they were hearing. This song gives me the same feels. They are geniuses realesing this.
How can you complain about this song? We are all entitled to our own opinions but come on this is such a nice tune
austin corbin no its horrendous. Most agree that it's awful.
you said it yourself - we're all entitled to our own opinions. many of us think it's not good. according to your logic, that should be ok that we feel that way
yeah I get it popular opinion in the comments havent liked the song, and thats ok. but I dont understand whats not to like nor am i going to try to.
It's funny, I read the comments before listening and was so surprised at how much I liked it. Sometimes there really is beauty in simplicity :)
I hear Dave channeling Tom Waits and I'm loving it.
On the bright side we all need a bathroom break song and this one tops the list. It will grow on us all eventually.
Love this song...has that sexy groove feel and love the raspy voice. 25th show will be at bristow this year...keep putting out great music fellas!!!
Evolution is natural ... lets just roll with it
People expect every song to compete as their favorite. Enjoy that these guys are still alive releasing tunes AND touring. C'mon now.
Estoy acá por el baile de Marge y Homero 😬
oh hell yes, I love it!!
I loved the song after watching Homer&Marge Simpson. Dancing
Full band opener of this in Atlanta was AMAZING! Funky and fresh, IMO. Bring on more of this hip shaking vibe!
Definitely has that 'Some Devil' vibe which is nice. Will take a few more listens to appreciate though. Very different, but it has potential.
both songs so far have Some Devil ablum vibe, which to me is great.
My thoughts exactly, listened to that album a few weeks ago.
I didnt enjoy this AT ALL ... until hearing it at a recent show! Completely changes your view live!
This is a hot song
One day I hope I will find my Marge...
Love this track. Hoping to see it live this summer.
My husband sang this song to get me to go out with him. We have been together for 6 years & he still sings me this song
One of my favs for sure.

Damn, so smooth and rough at the same time.
The Simpson brought me here!😍
I absolutely love this song ....it is completely lovely! Just make me happy.
