Thanks so much! I think yours is the first full-length video I've seen pop up on the mini. Appreciated!

Really like the look of this, reminds of me of some Bob Lum's knives.

Excited for mine to finally get here, thanks for some legitimate cut tests and overview. Wouldve grabbed a TH Nightshade too, but not crazy on liner locks. A fixed blade variant with contored micarta would be top tier imo.

Oh boy! That’s a great idea, a fixed blade Nightshade. I’d buy one.

Have you seen the Kizer baby? Isn’t Kizer the parent company of Vosteed.
Anyway the kizer baby appears to be a fixed blade version of the nightshide. 😊

@@vrab. I have seen that but never tried it! It definitely looks like it will be a super good cutter like the Nightshade!
I recently bought one of the premium Nightshades they dropped with copper bolsters and Vanax steel. I may sell my old one, if you can’t find one and are desperate let me know 😁

Definitely need the s35vn version cut test.

Impressive the cutting board your using may have small grains of dirt/sand which will really dull the edge or maybe not-silica/rock/grit is pretty hard stuff on the Mohs scale

Certainly looks like knife was doing its job where you were along for the ride. Think I would like the larger size just to have more handle to hang onto. Thanks for the detailed video showing what the knife is capable of doing.

I agree, unless you want a small knife for the weight or carryability, go with the full size!

Try shaking it open. The omega springs are weak

Yeah I can flip it open by shaking it

Also: had a question. How do you think it compates overall to the baby banter? I watched most of tge baby banter cut test and it seems edge retention seemed better here. But im specifically wondering about ergos and also how it carries. Im interested in them as a small, lightweight edc to have for very minimal and occasional utility cutting. Thanks for reading!

    • @doodysdaggers

The Baby Banter is more light use than the Mini Nightshade. Also, the Nightshade is going to be WAY better at utility cuts than the Baby Banter. Both are very lightweight. The Baby Banter is a smaller knife, so it disappears in your pocket a little better. But I hardly notice I’m carrying the Mini Nightshade either.
Overall, I’d pick the Mini Nightshade every time. Better at utility cutting, better at slicing through cardboard and other materials, better blade shape, easy one handed closing with the crossbar lock.

@@doodysdaggers hey thanks so much for the super clear and detailed response. I really appreciate it! Mind made up: I'm gonna start planning to buy the mini nightshade and skip the baby banter. Really like this one with the red accents, though I'd love to see it with micarta scales too. Anyways, thanks again!

I have both. Love the Mini NS. Baby Banter has great action and a forward choil, but blade is not a good cutter with its thicker blade stock. The NS is a great slicer. If on the fence, get the Vosteed.

I find the pallet banding interesting because I've had 'good ' steel take a roll on stuff like that. Minor rolls but still. So which one do you like best?

    • @doodysdaggers
      @doodysdaggers  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Okay I agree I think it’s pretty tough on edges. I’ll keep doing it.
I’d say I like the full size better. But this mini is cool also, I’d use it as a backup or 5th pocket carry
