‘Incompetent’ Linda Burney is ‘part of the blame’ for failed Voice

  • Sky News host Cory Bernardi has taken aim at Indigenous Australians Minister Linda Burney after Australians overwhelmingly rejected the Voice to Parliament proposal.
    He said Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has managed to lose the “unlosable” referendum.
    “Part of the blame has to go with his choice of Linda Burney who is clearly an incompetent minister,” Mr Bernardi told Sky News host Paul Murray.
    “She has no capacity to even sell her brief - she was tasked with one single thing and she couldn’t answer a single question.
    “These people are hopeless - they are incredibly lazy.”

    The elephant in the room is the incompetency of Linda Burney. No one is willing to raise the point that if this is the calibre of Aboriginal representation, no wonder they are in dire straights. The woman is incapable of stringing any more than a few words together unless she has a script. Compare her response to the loss where all she seemed to do was read from a prepared speech and talk about “Uncle” and “Aunty” whoever to how Jacinta Price responded. No prepared speech, off the cuff and eloquent. No wonder Burney did not want to debate her. Linda Burney needs to answer questions on her incompetent attempt to get the Voice over the line. Hiding behind a “medical” issue won’t cut it. If the woman is ill and incapable of performing her role as minister then replace her as she is doing the Aboriginal cause no favours in her current capacity.

    We said sorry so long ago but we’re still divided. Non indigenous Australians are fed up with being lambasted and made to feel guilt for colonisation. We need to hear forgiveness. We plough our hard earned taxes to the aboriginal people to lift them yet nothing happens to bridge the gap and its so frustrating. I love this land, love it and feel a connection to it but I’m told it belongs to the aboriginal people, well really, where do the rest of us belong?. We’re human beings and we need cohesion. ‘Pay the rent?”, we are! Ive worked my ass off and paid my share and more. Acceptance and forgiveness is really the only way forward. Its their turn.This fiasco was hurtful and Aussies are cringeing at being welcomed to their home as if they don’t belong it’s a certain type that keep the sore open. This is my land too. Can we stop referring to aboriginals as First Nations.
      That term was plagiarised from the Canadian indigenous peoples.
      "First Nation” is a term used to describe Aboriginal peoples of Canada who are ethnically neither Métis nor Inuit. This term came into common usage in the 1970s and '80s and generally replaced the term “Indian,” although unlike “Indian,” the term “First Nation” does not have a legal definition".

    And now all I see, is nothing but sour grapes, from those who cannot accept the fact that they did not read the room, I upset a lot of people at uni when I told them outright that not only would I vote NO, that the NO vote would win and wouldn't even be close.

      I thought that we wouldn't get an outcome until at least much later on in the night, but to have a quick finish was pleasantly surprising, I still viewed the outcome of the referendum as a foregone conclusion.

Then compare that to the passionate, intelligent, eloquent presentations of Jacinta and Warren! They didn't have to use vile language or lies because it was all truth and all from the heart. ....and no million dollar donations or budgets for the no campaign, just all honest hard work that inspired others, like me, who had never been involved in a political campaign before! Could it be that Linda Burney is miffed because she wanted to be chosen as The Voice ? Is that why she's so upset ? One thing's for sure, she can't read the room and she obviously doesn't know how the people she is supposed to represent actually feel. She finally got her wake-up call.

  • @davidcarter4247
    @davidcarter4247 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

    It was Burney who gave the momentum to the no campaign from before the actual campaign started because she personified the lie, that indigenous people did not have a voice. She was in the NSW parliament for 13 years, eight of which were in government. She was deputy opposition leader. She has followed that with seven years in the federal parliament including 18 months as a cabinet minister. As for disadvantage, she is university educated and her personal income as a cabinet minister is at least eight times that of her constituents (2021 census). She owns three properties and has a half share in a fourth (register of interests). She is a multimillionaire.

  • @joeharvey3150

    The obvious question is why can't Linda Burney's (has she had a stroke?) NIAA get advice from whoever they want right now and tackle issues without a referendum and Voice?
    From the website: "The National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) vision is to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are heard, recognised and empowered."
    Why haven't the media been asking govt about this?
    Or looking into the past of fraudsters behind the Voice like Noel Pearson.?
    Albo may be stuck with Burney due to factional politics.

      @cherylwilliamson4924 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      There was a recent story about her and I believe she did have a stroke a few years ago and it affected her speech.
      Whilst I sympathise if that is the case, if she is fit to work she should be competent in the position she holds and I don’t believe she is.
      Refusing to debate Jacinta Price (Burney’s own words) tells us something doesn’t it?

    • @johnwoodrow8769
      @johnwoodrow8769 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      Simple, because providing 'advice' to the Minister for Indigenous Australians was NEVER the real intended role of 'the voice'. It was to be a 'third chamber of Parliament' (about the only thing Malcolm Turnbull ever got right) comprising unelected activists to co-govern Australia.

    Beyond everything else, the referendum demonstrated that Albanese and his Government have no idea about what is going on in the real world, it's a mystery to all of them. That brings a more severe problem to the table, because they clearly have no idea about what is going with cost of living issues or ways to correct the problems. Similarly they are misreading and misunderstanding the issues around energy and the real cost and availability of electricity. So, it seems we can safely assume, that there will be no actions on cost of living other than fumbling around with a bit of window dressing, there will be no action at all on energy supplies or pricing, and Albo will continue sleep walking his way to the next election while we wait, to see if Dutton can do any better? Nothing convincing has appeared so far. Perhaps the referendum outcome gives some kind of pivotal moment, to begin tipping into the run to the next election, but it remains to be seen. Albanese has run out of time and talent to now make the kind of monumental shift required to bring the support back. He is incapable of doing it.

Albeneasy certainly looked genuine and sincere , l will give him that , though we can be sincerely wrong , that’s not for me to judge . I look forward to seeing others surge ahead to fix and make sure , the Aboriginal and Australian people , get the best flow and productivity required to make better advantages systems flowing smoothly like a good Air conditioning system, we All inclusively need . God Bless Australia 🇦🇺 as Slim Dusty often said . Thank God for John Howard’s leadership . Remarkable character . And God bless the Genuine Aboriginal endeavours to make Australia great . Incredible food producers and great artists they are . I Love your work . Thank you . I pray the best solutions possible carpentry diem . Lol 😆 come on Aussie come on !
