How do you feel about this proposal? 😬

I think it's a good thing. Further down the road I would like to see Halifax and Dartmouth get a more impressive skyline.

Agreed! Density is a good thing!

This is a big change for my property. I have a 10,000 sq ft vacant lot directly beside my tiny 1900 lot.

I'm in Bedford. As long as we leave Sandy Lake alone Im fine. Still pissy about Second Lake.

@@AndrewStephensare you sure. Ever been to any traffic/roadway planning meetings? Or just take a look at the crosswalk at Creighton and Cunard (concrete blocks in the crosswalk, yep they improved the road for cycling & now pedestrians have to venture into the intersection).
Halifax still has a small town mentally, not that of a big city.

I’m curious to know how the additional traffic (cars, walkers, cyclist, buses, Greenlands for parks…) will be addressed by the builders vs taxes payers?

I think we all know the answer to that one haha

Thank you for doing this video. I think it is a step in the right direction. Very little impact to individuals because not many people can get construction financing. I do find the proposal missaligned in that they will allow 40 story buildings but only increased ER-3 zoning to 12 meters from 11 meters. It would make more sense to allow more 6-10 story buildings and keep maximum heights at 30 stories. Sure the REITs will love this as they manage apartments, but for existing condo buildings you will still need 80% approval to rebuild and where would the residents go. In Vancouver I hear that property taxes will rise to new zoning regardless if you building something biggers so Halifax should be prepared for higher taxes again next year.

I just hope this is presented to the public in a realistic way. This proposal is not going to reduce tent sales at Canadian Tire if you catch my drift. I also hope infrastructure is part of the proposal as the Bedford Highway, or any highway for that matter can’t handle much more. I say this knowing that something hope that if or when this is rolled out it is done gradually.

Infrastructure is a huge worry right now for sure. Not to mention healthcare, schools, etc.. The list goes on and on!

Love the videos, but a subtitle typo: gentle density, not gentile density

No. We don't need more " density". We do need to end mass migration, though ( and Halifax has enough of a " skyline"- it isn't "Toronto North").

I think a lot of the general opinion surrounding this proposal will be aligned with your opinion
