Oh god I felt Slim’s pain right in my bones when that fish jumped off the gaff. Luckily it didn’t last long as he back it up with another one!! I don’t think I’ll ever tire of seeing dolphins playing at the bow
Great quote Soph about the journey and destination. Well done w the trim Slim. Where's the scruffy guy gone. Hey how's the Starlink going. Do you have connections wherever. Thanks
Oh I so felt the pain when the Spanish went overboard, Glad you caught a second one. Top filleting Soph, Again. Bet it tasted great after all the effort to nail one. Cheers
Fantastic video. Complete with great lesson 4:30 in to just get the bloody fish on board and secure AND THEN take your photos! Arrgh! We’ve all been caught though.
Absolutely hectic, Soph I gotta say u are one heck of a Sailor, Women I would go with u anywhere and feel safe as. Slim, what a great fish well done and Happy Birthday old man, oh and I reckon that's the best look uv had yet. Love the bloopers. Please be safe, those waters are treacherous. Luv yas Aussies Rule. 🇦🇺🌈😲
Just when I think you two couldn’t be more exciting, funny, creative etc…you go and post an episode like this one. Holy…well..Mackerel! Well done….see you next week!
Hi Guys Looks like you are having lots of fun. When we sailed the east coast years ago, we got some very good advice early on to just sail under a headsail when the wind was 15 knots plus and on the beam or aft of the beam. Our 32 foot cavalier hardly went any slower and it took all the pressure off the auto helm as the boat was being “pulled along” without the twisting tendencies of a main on an old style cruiser. We are cruising after all. Stay safe Peter
Ahh yes, thee ol' headsail. It probably would have been better for that last sail, but we were committed to the main unfortunately hahah. Also, we didn't want to seem like we were slacking it 😅 Cheers for tuning in and leaving a comment Peter, appreciate it 😊
Yeah not necessarily. The hassle with not having a main up at all, is if the wind does come for’ard of the beam and you need the main, it can be awful hard to get far enough into the wind to hoist it. Far better to hoist it to start with with a reef or two when running downwind. But your point about it being easy for the [full] main to put the boat out of balance and hence overwork your autopilot is very well made.
@@SlimandSophSailingNakama It's an absolute pleasure to watch you guys, and I can have anything than huge amounts of admiration to see how your produce these amazing adventures and videos while doing your work /education
Wow! Fantastic episode. The perfect blend of casual sailing, tactical sailing, humor, and human interest. And some great editing to boot. Certainly one of the best sailing channels out there! Cheers to you both, and wishing continued success.
... but what is the destination .... the next anchorage or the persons you shall be a month, a year, 2, 5, 10 years down the road .... the destination, is it fixed or is it everchanging way out in front for you to chase and be excited about ..... sure bin there with not quite getting the fish over the rail .. the replacement sure was a fine specimen ..... thx for the share .... as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....
I must admit that I understood that he was going to lose that first Spanish mackerel. He sort of looked as a loser, at least then. The second mackerel looked somewhat stiff-, as if it was iced? Or it is perhaps my envy over this guy's environment that's making me mean - just look, that marvelous weather, the elegant boat, and his beautiful female companion - my God, the envy I feel!!
Haha, best mate (pineapple) yep he is a ranga, grew a mo from bum fluff (14ish), in our 60s now and still has that fxxxing MO. Never seen his top lip since we were kids, does he even still have a top lip? LOL. Oh, my nickname is 'bushfire', yep redhead as well, but more 'strawberry blonde' so not casting stones! No MO!
Please keep your hand off the chain and well away from that anchor winch. Either use your hands or the anchor winch, not both. It may give you weeks and months of content but not worth the pain and loss of Phalanges.
Appreciate the concern Simon, I think the camera angle may have made my hands appear closer than they were haha, our windless is getting on.. so when we have a lot of chain out sometimes she needs a little helping hand, rest assured they are well clear of the pinch points.
Oh god I felt Slim’s pain right in my bones when that fish jumped off the gaff. Luckily it didn’t last long as he back it up with another one!!
