  • I've had a TX802 for about a year now, and ever since I got it the buttons would almost always double trigger. Try putting one into Test Mode when the buttons keep retiggering.
Anyway, it was driving me nuts. I tried to see if there were replacement switches or some way to easily fix it. That's when I remembered that my tech had told me about WD40 for clearing the static out of a volume pot on my Sony MXP-3036 console I was restoring. I knew that had worked, so I figured it couldn't hurt.
Turns out that totally fixed the flakey button issue on the TX802, and it only took me about half an hour (after testing it on one button first).

Wow great info! Didn't know about using WD40 / rubbing alcohol in that way on mixers too. Good stuff!

Well I took a chance on it and it seems to have paid off. It's been nearly two weeks and it's still solid. Previously I almost couldn't use the keys due to the constant retriggering.

Nice to know! I guess WD40 is really no problem to use on electronic audio gear.
I always avoided it, thinking people advised against it... but that may have just been for tape deck lubrication.

I wouldn't have even considered it because I thought it would be conducive.

Darn. Now my control room smells like WD40.
But the buttons are still working.

    Huh, I wouldn't have guessed that WD40 was non-conductive.

      I know, right?
When he told me that I was skeptical. But I used it on the Monitor Volume on my mixer repair and it completely eliminated the scratchiness.
