Contrary to popular representation, there are all skin colours in India - from the really fair to a beautiful wheatish tone to olive skinned and dark skinned - each one is beautiful in their own way...India is a melting pot of so many different cultures...don't apply the same stereotype to us all!
If you watch the show, they speak in Tamil sometimes. So that means she must be having Tamil ancestors and we Tamilans have darker skin tone in comparison with Indians from other parts. And in Hollywood when they show an Indian, they mostly represent someone from North India. Good to see a Tamil girl represents Indian. If it isn't because of Mindy Kaling, there would be another North Indian fair skin type girl.

I rate your rating 9/10 :)
OMG😅
I rate this show 8/10 👍
I rate it 7 bc of fake accent otherwise show is really good
I rate it 9 because some of the stereotypes were really exaggerated and cringey lol
Freaking loved this show binged it in 1 night. Who else did and wants a 2nd season ASAP?! I loved loved loved this show and Mindy Kaling is an insightful funny genius. Awesome to see more Asian representation on mainstream series. Actually just different cultures in general. As a Filipina Australian it makes my 💓 happy. Indian culture seems eerily similar to that of Filipinos especially the overbearing mother and the judgemental competitive “aunties”. 😂
This show was so relatable to me as a Hindu growing up in a different country. They really hit the nail on the head with this one.
i love how they actually show hinduism because I feel like we need more representation of hindu indians.
Exactly. We work hard in every country we go to. We maintain peace, follow laws, don't cause any conflict and yet get stereotyped by abrahamic religions. We need to celebrate our religion and learn about it more. Sanatan dharm is a library not confined to a single book
Its really funny they both pronounce devi n ganesh like so weird
Exactly!!
gunAsh
True that !
Yes they should pronunce it like Dhaevi. தேவி.
Davie....lol. Mindy is whitewashed af
I love how comfortable Devi and Mindy are with each other
This is nice to see dark skinned Indian girl represented ...you never see that In Bollywood..
I honestly didn't expect much from this show
But it just kept winning my heart episode after episode
Amazing ❤️
I can't even explain, how much I love this show
This show was everything I was looking for in a binge session this quarantine. Thank you Mindy.
I knew all along Devi was going to end up with Ben. Im so glad she did. No matter as a friend or as a competitor, Ben has always been there next to Devi. Cant wait for season 2.
My doctor says any time now.
I love this show sm! I am not Indian/ South Asian but I am a POC & I can identify heavily with this show! It has diversity & inclusivity without being forced, it is a coming of age story with POC on the forefront! Its not trying to meet a “quota” like many shows try do to when stepping towards being more diverse. It is hilarious, well written, and relatable! This show deserves a second season!!!
So u also like to only date white men
This is my favorite episode... I wish it was longer tbh. I loved getting a glimpse inside the Indian Hindu culture
Nice to see Indians in hollywood. so 4 of them have tamil origin. Mindy kaling (writer), maitreyi (Devi), Poorna(Devi's mom) & senthil (Devi's dad). proud to be tamilian.
I love being an Indian and proud of my culture but Devi’s discomfort with wearing saree, seeing talented Indian girls dancing Bharatnatyam or other forms of classical Indian dance is me when I was her age. My parents never forced anything on me but it’s that rite of passage I guess in every or most Indian diaspora girl growing overseas that I can relate with the character. Looking forward to this show
My exact thoughts
No indian like bharatnatyam
This show is amazing. Mindy and Lang never disappoints! I found myself tearing hard at the last episode. Definitely deserves a second season! ❤️❤️
This is the most relatable show I've ever seen and I'm not even indian American ... I'm just an indian from a small city . It has perfectly represented how our parents never really communicate or convey their love . If this doesn't get renewed for a new season imma gonna riot.
That lead actress - Wow. Such charisma and talent at such a young age!
We badly need a season 2 of Ben and Devi!!!
Waiting for Season 2 😭
I feel triggered that I binged and now I don’t know how long it will take to get season 2. Why did you do this to me Netflix? Ugh
Its coming this July
Finished the first season last night.
Absolutely loved the show. Maitreyi's performance is incredible and the wriing is exceptional for all ten episodes. I just really hope Netflix fastracks the show and we see a second (longer) season as soon as possible.
She was actually looking so gorgeous in that saree like an actual princess Jasmine . She is beautiful ❤
She’s such a beautiful girl!!
I need a season 3 right now I’m dying 😞😞😞
IKR 😭 it's so good omg
Loved the show so much. Wish we had a show like this growing up. Hope there’s more seasons! 🙏🏾
I watched the whole season 1 in a day. Felt like this should be my family in US. Love it. Waiting for the season 2 ❤️❤️❤️
No one can match the beauty the our Indian lady when they come to their Indian attire.Because we love simplicity!
i finished the entire season in one day, and begged my cousin to watch it. we're both in love with the show now and can't wait for season 2! :^)
Thank you Mindy for showcasing our culture! We need more shows like this! AND a second season for 'Never Have I ever' ❤️
Devi is awesome and so chill. Love from Punjab !!
Here I'm watching it again, after watching s02 and desperately crying for s03 😭😭😭❤️
This show is absolutely amazing and needs another season. I cried so hard on the last episode.
🙏🕉️☸️🛐
🇮🇳
This web series was full of spectacular performances.
Keep it up 👍👍
This was my favorite episode because of how Devi tries to navigate her identity. I'm not South Asian, but as a child of an immigrant, I can 100% relate with that experience of being judged for not being cultural "enough".
Just wanted to say I loved this show!
Yeah this seems still too surreal to see our indian culture on such an AWESOME Netflix show which is making strides in Hollywood too. I just feel too eccentric and happy.
I am so....happy with the way this show turned out. Binged watched in one sitting. Can’t wait for Season 2. 👍
Love the fact that these kids with brown skin are so comfortable with their complexion. Indians can learn this as we see all cricket players having Europeans and lighter skin wives. Sad... for Indians. Absolute fan of Mindy. Role model for south indians.
I can't believe it, The kelly Kapoor has Become a director, they grow up so fast
THIS IS A GOOD SHOW!!! WATCH IT!!!!
Pls make a second season Im in love with this show I watched it 5 times in 1 day
I wish once in a life I could meet Devi Maitriyi Ramakrishnan
